Leaders of the House and Senate appropriation committees say more funding will be approved, though the amount and method isn’t known.

Rep. Jeff Delzer says state officials also still hope the federal government will help with funding.

The four-state, $3.8 billion pipeline is to carry North Dakota oil to Illinois. (AP) — The usual spectacle of colonies of ice houses is missing from many lakes in North Dakota this winter.

The Minot Daily News reports that the reason is too much snow, which suffocates access points to lakes and makes travel on lakes virtually impossible.

During the North American Ice Fishing Circuit’s national qualifying tournament at Lake Metigoshe on Sunday, participants weren’t able to use vehicles to move about the lake from one fishing area to the other as they typically do.

Myron Langehaug of Bottineau says the lake had open water when the winter storms began to ascend on the region.
