Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The James River Valley Library System, Director Joe Rector reports, that the new bookmobile is slated to be in town on \u00a0January 30th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n He adds, when the new bookmobile arrives, the Stutsman County Library will be closed for a day so the staff can train driving it.<\/p>\n Rector has gotten permission to park the present bookmobile at the Buffalo City Diesel location until it can be sold.<\/p>\n Rector says the total bookmobile cost is $239,501, adding that five percent of the total bookmobile cost remains. The library receives a grant for $35,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture when the bookmobile arrives in Jamestown.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 When summer arrives, Jamestown Regional Airport will be undergoing improvement projects.<\/p>\n The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority has voted to approve the \u00a0taxi lane reconstruction project at the General Aviation hangar area on the west side.<\/p>\n Being revised is the 2017, wetlands project stemming from \u00a0input from outside agencies, and changes \u00a0needing approval from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.<\/p>\n On another note, Airport Authority Chairman Jim Boyd will be serving his final year on the Airport Authority Board, finishing out his five year term.<\/p>\n The airport\u2019s runway use has been approved \u00a0for the Jamestown Drag Racing Association drags, to be held on July 15-16, 2017.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ROLLA, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy and a suspect are dead after a shootout in northern North Dakota that involved several officers firing weapons.<\/p>\n Rolette County Sheriff Gerald Medrud says 29-year-old Colt Allery had been with the department for three months after previously working for other area law agencies.<\/p>\n The incident began about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday when officers responded to a stolen vehicle call. Deputies pursued the vehicle for about 15 miles before a shootout began at a remote intersection south of Belcourt, a town near the Canadian border that’s about 60 miles from Devils Lake.<\/p>\n The suspect, who has not been identified, also was killed. Medrud says three other deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on standard administrative leave. North Dakota’s state crime bureau is investigating the case.<\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Six police officers suffered minor injuries and one protester was taken to a hospital after a clash between law enforcement and opponents of the Dakota Access pipeline in southern North Dakota.<\/p>\n The Morton County Sheriff’s Office says the clash occurred Wednesday night at a blockaded bridge near the protesters’ main encampment along the route of the $3.8 billion pipeline to carry North Dakota oil to Illinois. Opponents worry the pipeline will harm the environment.<\/p>\n Authorities say the officers used less-than-lethal ammunition against protesters, including bean bag rounds and tear gas.<\/p>\n The officers suffered ankle, shoulder, wrist and hand injuries. The protester who was taken to a hospital suffered a face injury. Protesters reported other injuries on social media.<\/p>\n Twenty-one protesters were arrested, bringing total arrests since Aug. 10 to 624.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Williams County officials have reinstated a fine against an oil transportation company for failing to pay fees and comply with zoning regulations while it was operating company housing several years ago.<\/p>\n County commissioners decided Tuesday to impose a $1.2 million fine against Western Petroleum LLC and its parent company, Pilot Logistics.<\/p>\n The total amount is a $1,000 fine for each day the company failed to pay fees for non-renewal of a conditional use permit, being out of compliance with zoning regulations and operating temporary housing.<\/p>\n A fine of $29.6 million was first issued to Western Petroleum in 2014 after officials discovered the lapses.<\/p>\n In response to the fines, the company has filed a suit in district court.<\/p>\n COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) \u2014 A woman who prosecutors said ran a drug trafficking ring that stretched from northern Idaho to North Dakota has pleaded guilty in federal court.The Spokesman-Review reports 52-year-old Loren Michelle Toelle of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy to launder money.<\/p>\n Prosecutors said Toelle, who worked as a stripper in Las Vegas, used her former husband’s money to distribute oxycodone, heroin and methamphetamine. Toelle recently divorced Coeur d’Alene gastroenterologist Dr. Stanley Toelle, and maintains he had no part in the criminal behavior. The doctor is also facing charges in the case and is set to stand trial in March.<\/p>\n Loren Toelle is the ninth of 11 defendants to plead guilty in connection with the drug ring. He’s spent the last week in a rehabilitation center and expects to return home soon.<\/p>\n Carew says he wants to remind people to get their hearts checked. His donor was a 29-year-old man.<\/p>\n The 71-year-old former Twins and Angels star had a heart attack in September 2015 and later had a device implanted in his heart.<\/p>\n Carew played from 1967 to 1985.
