News) &#8212;\u00a0\u00a0 At least two Jamestown residents were contacted on the phone Tuesday Jan 29, 2013 by an individual with a foreign accent, asking for them by first name, stating their computer had been reported as having virus problems.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They asked to individuals to type in an address,\u00a0 which brought up a screen saying several thousand viruses existed on the computer.\u00a0\u00a0 At that point the scammer had taken control of the computer.<\/p>\n<p>The scammer then went on to offer to remove the viruses,\u00a0 and a screen appeared for them to\u00a0type in credit card information.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a known Phishing Scam.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Internet users are urged to never go to an address based on an unknown\u00a0\u201dvoice\u201d,\u00a0 never give credit card numbers to unknown individuals who call you.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you received such a call and gave out credit card information,\u00a0 turn off your computer and contact the local Police.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you received such a call and went to their website giving them remote control of your computer,\u00a0 turn off your computer and contact a local computer technician for advice as to steps to check and remove any viruses placed on your computer by the scammer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It appears the scammers concentrate calls in a particular city or area code for a short time before the word gets out to the media.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 By using public directories,\u00a0 scammers get names and phone numbers,\u00a0 to make it sound like they know the person they are calling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Be safe,\u00a0 do not give credit card information to strangers.\u00a0 Do not allow access to your computer to an unknown\u00a0\u201dvoice\u201d on the phone.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Report the scam if you believe you have given out passwords, credit card, or bank information in error.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Regional Medical Center\u2019s Hospice program will benefit from proceeds raised, from this year\u2019s &#8220;Polar Pig, Walk the Plank.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The event is in conjunction with the Stutsman Harley Owners Group (HOG), and will be held on Saturday February 2, 2013 at Stutsman Harley Davidson in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson, Don Wegner says the silent auction begins at 9-a.m., with registration and the ABATE Chili Cookoff starting at 10:30-a.m. A donation of $5 to enter.<\/p>\n<p>He adds Don Wilhelm, Inc., in Jamestown is donating a car to be auctioned off at 12:30-p.m., with the proceeds going to hospice.<\/p>\n<p>Walk the Plant begins at noon, with participants raising money for hospice through pledges, and other donations, with $100 raised to be a plunger.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes will be awarded for \u2026Team Spirit, Best Splash, and the Wildest Costume.<\/p>\n<p>A D.J. will also be on hand.<\/p>\n<p>Wegner says this is the 7th year of Walk The Plank, Polar Pig, and has thus far raised $67,000 for the JRMC Hospice program.<\/p>\n<p>For more information contact Don Wegner at 701-320-7866.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota Army National Guard unit has been notified that it might be called to duty in Afghanistan.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 814th Medical Company is based in Bismarck and has a detachment in Grand Forks. If the unit is mobilized, about 65 soldiers would begin serving overseas early next year, for up to a year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It would be the first deployment for the unit in the war on terror.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Authorities believe a body found in a Cass County field is that of Colter Dallman, a 27-year-old Fargo man missing since early January.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel says that is based on a preliminary identification. An autopsy is planned Thursday.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities found the body Monday while searching for Dallman. Vettel says there is no evidence of foul play.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Golden Valley woman has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in a fatal July 2011 crash and been given a suspended sentence.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMemory Bell will serve no prison time if she successfully completes two years of supervised probation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities said Bell&#8217;s driver&#8217;s license was suspended and she was distracted by adjusting the radio at the time her vehicle struck that of 23-year-old Tyler Holder on a county road, killing the Beulah man.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The brother of a North Dakota man sentenced to life in prison for killing their mother has called the sentence appropriate and says his brother will not be able to hurt anybody else.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dale Grenstiner is the son of Ann Grenstiner, who was found slain in her home last March. Another son, Dean Grenstiner, was sentenced Monday to life in prison with the possibility of parole for killing Ann Grenstiner.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dale Grenstiner says his brother has mental health issues. He says his mother tried to get him help, but that Dean Grenstiner thought she was picking on him.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dale Grenstiner is a police officer in Connecticut. He thanked the Bismarck Police Department for keeping him informed following his mother&#8217;s death.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A North Dakota man who was arrested on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation but was able to remove his handcuffs and drove off in the police vehicle has been sentenced to prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon announced Tuesday that 21-year-old Weldon Littleghost, of Sheyenne, was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for damaging government property, possessing a stolen firearm and escape.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say Littleghost and co-defendant Lucas Little, of Tokio, were arrested on tribal charges in April 2011 on the Spirit Lake reservation when they managed to drive off in the vehicle and remove their handcuffs. The two destroyed the car&#8217;s digital video and radio systems and shot out the back window.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Little was earlier sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A group that supports hockey in the North Dakota city of West Fargo is raising money by raffling off guns, including assault rifles.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe \u00a0West Fargo Hockey Association hopes to raise about $90,000 by raffling off 200 rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders and assault rifles. The drawing is March 15.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Organizer Mike Prochnow says planning for the gun raffle began last August, well before the December school shooting in Newtown, Conn., that sparked a nationwide debate about gun control.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Department of Transportation is launching program that will provide funding to increase safety on county and township roads in the state&#8217;s oil-producing counties.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The program was announced Tuesday by NDDOT and Gov.
