{"id":118884,"date":"2017-04-03T08:10:06","date_gmt":"2017-04-03T13:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=118884"},"modified":"2017-04-03T21:33:09","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T02:33:09","slug":"vc-commission-approves-myhre-payout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=118884","title":{"rendered":"VC Commission approves Myhre payout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-70342\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/VCpublicWorks-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/VCpublicWorks-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/VCpublicWorks-259x175.jpg 259w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/VCpublicWorks.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Valley City Commission met in Special Session Monday at 7-a.m.<\/p>\n<p>All members were present\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The only agenda item was to consider separation agreement with City Attorney Russell Myhre.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioners voted 3-1 with Mayor Carlsrud voting in opposition.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Carlsrud\u00a0\u00a0 said he \u201cDidn\u2019t like the mess that brought us together, today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that separating with Myhre three months early means added cost to the city during the transition process.<\/p>\n<p>Carlsrud feels Myhre would have conducted himself professionally through the transition period, adding that Myhre has done so during his years serving the City Attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Magnuson said the process should have started in January this year.<\/p>\n<p>He asked City Administrator Schelkoph to address the effects and costs to the city on Myhre\u2019s leaving.<\/p>\n<p>He said the payout is $17,100 over the next three months, at minmium, including the Municipal Court.<\/p>\n<p>The City Municipal Court will have a replacement prosecutor with a pay of $3,500 per month over the next three months less if a replacement is found.<\/p>\n<p>He said a City Attorney replacement is running according to the time frame.<\/p>\n<p>He added a replacement to handle the City Attorneys duties will be handled, including flood control property buyouts.<\/p>\n<p>The delay in handling day to day issues that come up for legal assistance is not known at this point.<\/p>\n<p>Magnuson added the city should contact law offices in time to temporarily handle issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default\">Commissioner Bishop added that the City Commission&#8217;s action is based on actions by Myhre and not a movement by the City commission to replace him.<\/p>\n<p>On December 27th of 2016, the Valley City Commission unanimously approved\u00a0 a settlement and agreement concerning\u00a0 Myhre&#8217;s retirement.<\/p>\n<p>The City Commission voted to\u00a0 pay Myhre\u00a0$75,000 at the end of 2016 and will\u00a0was to be\u00a0paid another $75,000\u00a0in 2017 for a total of $150,000.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Valley City is in the process of searching for a new City Attorney to represent the city.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Valley City Commission met in Special Session Monday at 7-a.m. All members were present\u2026 The only agenda item was to consider separation agreement with City Attorney Russell Myhre.
