\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Police is warning Jamestown residents concerning a convicted sex offender living in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

David Leroy Thorson resides at 2605 Circle Drive, at the State Hospital,Transitional Home.<\/p>\n

Thorson is a 47 year old white male, five feet nine inches tall, weighing 220 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n

He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee of the Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Offense:\u00a0 Gross Sexual Imposition involving a 9 year old girl on two occasions.<\/p>\n

Conviction Date:\u00a0 August 2002 Morton County District Court.<\/p>\n

Disposition: Count 1-10 years, 3 years suspended, 203 days credit.<\/p>\n

Count 2 10 years, 7 years suspended 203 credit, supervised probation<\/p>\n

Offense:\u00a0 Corruption of a minor, providing alcohol to a 15 year old girl, and had intercourse with her.<\/p>\n

Conviction Date: August\u00a0 1991 Billings County District Court.<\/p>\n

Disposition:\u00a0 180 days.<\/p>\n

Offense: Corruption of a minor,\u00a0 concerning a 16 year old girl, within a month he forced a 15 year old and a 16 year old girl to have intercourse with him.<\/p>\n

Conviction Date: June 1991<\/p>\n

Disposition: 1 year.<\/p>\n

Offense:\u00a0 Gross Sexual Imposition involving a 14 year old girl.<\/p>\n

Conviction Date: June 1991 in Stark County District Court.<\/p>\n

Disposition:\u00a0 10 years, 8 and a half years suspended.<\/p>\n

Thorson is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n

Any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders, their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Eventide Jamestown\u2019s Executive Director, Doug Panchot said, the proceeds will go to continued technology improvements including the Music and Memory Program for residents.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Investigators say a fire that destroyed a North Dakota church recently purchased by a white supremacist was intentionally set.<\/p>\n

The state fire marshal’s office says the fire was started by an “open flame device” near a door of the former Zion Evangelical Free Church in Nome.<\/p>\n

Craig Cobb bought the century-old building for $8,000 and estimates his total loss at more than double that amount because he had moved in some furniture.<\/p>\n

The fire marshal’s report says the building had no electrical service or heat. New locks were installed one day before the fire.<\/p>\n

Cobb is serving four years of probation for terrorizing and menacing residents of Leith in 2013. He currently lives in Sherwood, and says he has no plans to keep the property in Nome.<\/p>\n

BUXTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A storage building at Central Valley Aviation north of Buxton was destroyed by fire.<\/p>\n

Assistant Fire Chief David Knudsvig says\u00a0 two crop-spraying airplanes and spraying equipment also were lost in the Wednesday blaze.<\/p>\n

No one was hurt. There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n

BELCOURT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities have identified a Fort Totten woman who died after a crash that happened while she was being pursued by police in Rolette County.<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol says 25-year-old Clarice Brown was driving a car that fled from police investigating a reported disturbance at Sky Dancer Casino on U.S. Highway 281 early Monday. The car eventually went in the ditch and rolled.<\/p>\n

Brown died of her injuries on Tuesday. A passenger in the car was injured but later released from a hospital.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A group of doctors is offering to pay for a surgical simulator if North Dakota State University stops using live animals for its trauma life support training.<\/p>\n

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine says it will pick up the $3,235 tab for the simulator if the university and Sanford Health stop using live pigs for the course. The advocacy group has been working for the last decade to stop the practice, and says North Dakota State is one of the few programs that still uses live pigs.<\/p>\n

University officials say the program is committed to the well-being of animals in its care and also providing the best training possible. They say the exercise meets all federal guidelines.<\/p>\n

The doctors’ group has organized a protest Thursday on campus.<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Minot-area residents will need to find an estimated $400 million to pay the local share of two major water projects in coming years.<\/p>\n

The city’s public works director, Dan Jonasson, spoke with the liaison committee Wednesday saying Minot’s existing half-cent tax for flood control won’t be enough to complete the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection and the Northwest Area Water Supply projects.<\/p>\n

Jonasson says a sales tax needs to be seriously considered.<\/p>\n

The Minot Daily News reports the estimated cost of the entire basin-wide project is estimated at about $1 billion. The first four phases of the flood protection project would cost Minot $325 million. A funding bill in the state Legislature would cover $193 million.<\/p>\n

About $213 million is remaining to pay the Northwest Area Water Supply, of which local share would be $76 million.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The Senate has cleared the way for a Friday confirmation vote on President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court. On Thursday, the Senate voted 55-45 to successfully block Judge Neil Gorsuch, denying Republicans the 60 votes they needed to move forward. Republicans then voted to eliminate the 60-vote threshold, allowing them to proceed to the Friday vote with a simple majority.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi says President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the Obama administration’s national security adviser broke the law is “weird” and “beneath the dignity” of the presidency. Pelosi called on Trump to “declassify the basis” of his comment and said, “It’s time for him to be president, to be the manager.”<\/p>\n

MOSCOW (AP) \u2014 President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman says Russia’s support for Syrian President Bashar Assad is not unconditional, but that the country demands a full investigation of the suspected chemical attack on a rebel-held province in Syria before the United Nations takes any action. Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s remarks came two days after the suspected chemical attack killed at least 72 people.<\/p>\n

BEIRUT (AP) \u2014 President Bashar Assad’s government has come under mounting international pressure after a chemical attack in northern Syria, with even key ally Russia saying its support is not unconditional. Turkey, meanwhile, said samples from victims of Tuesday’s attack on the northern opposition-held town of Khan Sheikhoun, which killed more than 80 people, indicate they were exposed to sarin, a highly toxic nerve agent.<\/p>\n

LOS ANGELES (AP) \u2014 Comedian Don Rickles, the Emmy-winning king of insult comedy, died Thursday at 90, his longtime publicist and friend Paul Shefrin said. For more than half a century, Rickles headlined casinos and nightclubs from Las Vegas to Atlantic City, New Jersey, and livened up late-night talk shows.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
