Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol attributes Monday\u2019s (Apr 24, 2017) return to wintery weather driving conditions as a contributing factor in two vehicle crashes in the Grand Forks area.<\/p>\n
In the first crash, 41-year-old Elizabeth Velasquez, Portage La Prairie, MB, was traveling north on Interstate 29 when her vehicle slid into the east ditch and overturned. I-29 was ice-covered at the time of the crash. Velasquez was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries. She was driving a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe.<\/p>\n
In the second, 24-year-old Andrew Waechter, Grand Forks, was westbound on U.S. Highway 2 when his vehicle slid into the median and overturned. The highway was slushy at the time. Waechter was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. He was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup.<\/p>\n
Several other vehicles slid in the ditch and median along I-29 north of Grand Forks, which had accumulating snow and slush, along with reduced visibility.<\/p>\n
