Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Rural Fire Department returned Wednesday to the scene of Sunday afternoon\u2019s pasture fire<\/a>, near Buchanan, about 3:30-p.m.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s fire\u00a0was in a burn pit\u00a0that spread to an area of\u00a0 brush around the pit.<\/p>\n

Rural Fire Captain Rick Woehl says,the fire units were on the scene Wednesday nearly two hours putting out hot spots.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 R.M. Stoudt in Jamestown is hosting the 10th Annual\u00a0Running of the Pink, \u00a05-K Run\/Walk, 10-K Run, Saturday, June 3, 2017, starting at 9-a.m.\u00a0\u00a0 Over $80,000 has been raised from the events, and last year\u00a0 topped over 600 registrants.\u00a0 400 were walkers participating in the 5-K \u00a0event.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Tara Kapp from R.M. Stoudt said, last year a total of $30,000 was raised, including an R.M. Stoudt match of $15,000 in honor of Stoudt\u2019s 75th<\/sup> Anniversary in 2016.<\/p>\n

ALL PROCEEDS<\/strong> are donated locally to the JRMC Foundation & Women\u2019s Way Chapter to be used for Breast & Cervical Cancer screenings, education & needs.<\/p>\n

The funding also supports the \u201cNo Excuses\u201d program through the Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Foundation, \u00a0that allows screenings for those with no insurance, or limited insurance, to have the 3-D mammograms at JRMC at no cost.\u00a0\u00a0 The program also covers gasoline costs for those traveling to Jamestown for the screening from out of the area.\u00a0 More information by calling JRMC, or R.M. Bismarck\u00a0 (PPR)\u00a0 The delayed \u00a0wind farm project near Ashley, may soon be built.<\/p>\n

Prairie Public Radio reports, the Merricourt Wind Power Project in McIntosh County was given siting approval in 2008, but was not built. The Public Service Commission had given the project siting approval in 2008. However, it was never built.<\/p>\n

The developer has filed a new siting application \u2013 and the PSC has scheduled a hearing on it.<\/p>\n

Commissioners Julie Fedorchak\u00a0\u00a0and Randy Christmann say some of the proposed wind power projects couldn\u2019t find anyone to buy the power, so they weren\u2019t built.<\/p>\n

Otter Tail Power Company has filed for an \u201cadvanced determination of prudence\u201d for the Merricourt Wind Farm \u2013 to purchase the power.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Grand Forks police are investigating a reported incident in which a man dressed in a bunny suit tried to lure children into a van.<\/p>\n

Authorities say the man wearing the costume approached children on Wednesday and asked if they wanted to pet the bunny he had in his van.<\/p>\n

The children left and told their parents. Police searched the area but didn’t find anyone matching the description.<\/p>\n

The van is described as a red-and-silver conversion van. A sticker of a bunny is on the back window.<\/p>\n

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say a Washington state man was arrested for possession of 13 pounds of marijuana following a routine traffic stop in western North Dakota.<\/p>\n

The Morton County Sheriff’s Department says 38-year-old Josh William Carter of Tacoma, Washington, was pulled over speeding early Wednesday morning on Interstate 94. A deputy found 21 heat-sealed plastic bags of pot worth about $33,000.<\/p>\n

Carter was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He has not been asked to enter a plea.<\/p>\n

Court documents do not list an attorney for Carter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp wants a special prosecutor to investigate possible ties between President Donald Trump and Russia following the president’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Democrat says Comey’s firing “raises far more questions than it answers.”<\/p>\n

Republican Sen. John Hoeven says the case has been made for Trump to fire Comey but the timing raises questions. He’s calling for a continued investigation by a bipartisan Senate committee into last year’s presidential election, “including any Russian interference.”<\/p>\n

GOP Rep. Kevin Cramer did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.<\/p>\n

Comey traveled to North Dakota last year to open a FBI office in Williston and to visit with tribal officials at the Fort Berthold Reservation.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum says he’s disappointed that the U.S. Senate has voted against repealing a rule related to methane emissions.<\/p>\n

The Senate voted 51-49 to reject a procedural motion objecting to the Bureau of Land Management’s so-called flaring and venting rule.<\/p>\n

Burgum says allowing the BLM rule in place will have detrimental impacts on some oil and gas operations on public lands.<\/p>\n

Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota voted in support of the rule. She says it would not get in the way of proactive steps the state has taken to decrease flaring and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also supporting the energy industry and good jobs.<\/p>\n

Republican North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven voted to support the resolution.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The Dakota Access pipeline leaked 84 gallons of oil in South Dakota early last month, which an American Indian tribe says bolsters its argument that the pipeline jeopardizes its water supply and deserves further environmental review.<\/p>\n

The state’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources says the April 4 spill was relatively small and was quickly cleaned up, and it didn’t threaten any waterways.<\/p>\n

The agency posted a report in its website’s searchable database, but it didn’t take any other steps to announce it to the public, despite an ongoing lawsuit by four Sioux tribes seeking to shut down the pipeline.<\/p>\n

Brian Walsh, an environmental scientist with the agency, said Wednesday that the state doesn’t issue news releases on spills unless they threaten the public’s health, a fishery or a drinking water system, and that no such threat existed in this case.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 This year’s winter wheat crops in the Dakotas are forecast to be down significantly from last year.<\/p>\n

The Agriculture Department forecasts North Dakota’s production to be down 50 percent, to about 2.9 million bushels. The main reason is fewer acres for harvest.<\/p>\n

In South Dakota, where winter wheat is a more prevalent crop, production is forecast to be down 32 percent to 43.7 million bushels. Fewer acres for harvest also is the main reason for the drop in that state.<\/p>\n

Average winter wheat yield in North Dakota is expected to be up slightly. In South Dakota, the average yield is forecast to be down a couple of bushels from last year’s record.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (UJ)\u00a0 The Jimmie softball team will head to Sioux City, Iowa, for the Sioux City Bracket of the 2017 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, beginning May 15,2017 at the Elizabeth and Irving F. Jensen Softball Complex.<\/p>\n

Joining Jamestown will be Reinhardt (Ga.) University, Ottawa (Kan.) University, and tournament host Morningside College.<\/p>\n

UJ won the North Star Athletic Association conference tournament and enter the bracket as the No. 3 seed with a record of 41-19. They face Reinhardt, the 13th-ranked team in the NAIA Coaches\u2019 Top 25 Poll in the first game at 2:00 p.m. Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Canada <\/strong>\u2013 Dunnigan was stellar in pitching circle, helping lead Jamestown (N.D.) to their first-ever North Star Softball Postseason Tournament Championship, as the Jimmies\u00a0finished the tournament with a 5-1 record.\u00a0In the winner-take-all championship game, she struck out a tournament-high 14 batters to defeat top-seeded Bellevue (Neb.) 2-1 and\u00a0earn an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.\u00a0 Dunnigan posted an earned run average of 1.48 in six pitching appearances, holding her opponents to a .157 batting average\u00a0and led the tournament with 36 strikeouts.\u00a0She allowed 16 hits in 28 1\/3 innings of work.\u00a0Dunnigan also recorded four wins in the postseason tournament.<\/p>\n

Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson says interviews will be next<\/p>\n

The candidates are Dennis Ziegler from West Bend Public Schools in Wisconsin,\u00a0Mike Schmidt from Wilmot Public Schools in South Dakota and\u00a0Randy Loing from Rolla Public Schools.<\/p>\n

Dickinson\u00a0 (DSU)\u00a0\u00a0 Dickinson State University has announced its decision to discontinue baseball and golf effective in the 2018-19 academic year. The sports will remain active during the 2017-18 seasons and will be discontinued in the fall of 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The decision was made as part of larger university reductions. DSU must implement reductions of $4.9 million in the upcoming biennium which begins in July 2017. Cutbacks are being made across the campus community, with just under $400,000 coming from athletics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mission of the institution is to ensure we give students the best possible education,\u201d said DSU President, Dr. Thomas Mitzel. \u201cWe recognize that education spans across academics, athletics and programs \u2013 all of which were considered in the budget planning process.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to balance the budget and the needs of our students. DSU must be a good steward of the trust placed in us by the city and the state,\u201d said Mitzel. \u201cIn order to be financially sound we had to reduce programming and become more efficient in how we educate our students while maintaining the excellence in education found at DSU.\u201d<\/p>\n

DSU will allow student athletes in the affected programs to contact other schools and will grant their release if they decide to transfer. There is an opportunity for the sports to continue if they are able to raise their own external funding.<\/p>\n

TWINS-WILK…<\/p>\n

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) \u2014 The Minnesota<\/span> Twins have claimed left-hander Adam Wilk off waivers from the New York Mets.<\/p>\n

The Twins announced the move on Wednesday. The 29-year-old Wilk was the Mets’ emergency starter on Sunday when Matt Harvey was suspended. He started six games for Triple-A Las Vegas this season, going 2-3 with a 5.91 ERA.<\/p>\n

Minnesota<\/span> has been in the middle of a shuffle of the starting rotation after sending Kyle Gibson down to Triple-A Rochester last week. The Twins currently have an opening in the rotation for the game Saturday at Cleveland and Wilk could slide into that spot.<\/p>\n

Wilk will join the Twins on Thursday in Chicago, where they are playing the White Sox.<\/p>\n

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) \u2014 The fresh start for wide receiver Michael Floyd’s sidetracked career will come at home in Minnesota<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Floyd agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Vikings on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Floyd finished last season with Super Bowl champion New England after a drunken driving arrest led to his departure from the Arizona Cardinals.<\/p>\n

“Happy as ever!!! Happy to get to work,” Floyd wrote on his Twitter account.<\/p>\n

Floyd is a native of St. Paul, the capital city where he was a two-time winner of the Minnesota<\/span> Associated Press Player of the Year award at Cretin-Derham Hall High School.<\/p>\n

FATAL CRASH-BERMAN’S WIFE…<\/p>\n

WOODBURY, Conn. (AP) \u2014 The wife of longtime ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman has died in a traffic crash in Connecticut.<\/p>\n

State police say 67-year-old Katherine Ann Berman was one of two victims in the two-vehicle crash at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in Woodbury. The other victim was 87-year-old Edward Bertulis, of Waterbury.<\/p>\n
