According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/wps\/portal\/fsis\/topics\/recalls-and-public-health-alerts\/recall-case-archive\/archive\/2017\/recall-052-2017-release\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USDA<\/a>, small metal scraps were among a batch of beef franks manufactured by Cincinnati-based John Morrell &amp; Co. for the Nathan&#8217;s and Curtis brands.<\/p>\n<p>Two products, both manufactured on Jan. 26, are being recalled:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>14 oz. sealed film packages containing &#8220;Nathan&#8217;s SKINLESS 8 BEEF FRANKS,&#8221; with a Use By date of Aug. 19, 2017<\/li>\n<li>16 oz. sealed film packages containing &#8220;Curtis BEEF MASTER Beef Franks,&#8221; with a Use By date of June 15, 2017<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The packages have &#8220;Est. 296&#8221; on the sides and were shipped to retail locations nationwide, according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>John Morrell &amp; Co. notified the federal government of the issue on Friday, affecting 210,606 pounds of ready-to-eat hot dog products. The company did not say how the franks\u00a0may have been contaminated with\u00a0metal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/05\/21\/massive-hot-dog-recall-after-metal-shards-found-in-packaging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Post<\/a>\u00a0notes the recall comes in advance of the Nathan&#8217;s Famous Hot Dog Eating contest\u00a0in Coney Island on the 4th of July.<\/p>\n<p>There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injury due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers who have purchased the\u00a0affected products are urged to throw them away or return them\u00a0to the place of purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers with questions about the recall can call 1-877-933-4625.
