Murray finished with 23 saves for the Penguins, who used the first coach’s challenge in finals history to wipe out an early Nashville goal and held on despite going an astonishing 37:09 at one point without a shot.<\/p>\n Game 2 is Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n SPORTSWRITER-INDY 500 TWEET<\/p>\n DENVER (AP) \u2014 A veteran sports<\/span> writer is no longer working with The Denver Post after he posted on Twitter that he was “uncomfortable with a Japanese driver winning the Indianapolis 500 during Memorial Day weekend.”<\/p>\n Terry Frei sent the tweet after Takuma Sato on Sunday became the first Japanese driver to win the race.<\/p>\n Frei sent a follow-up tweet apologizing to Sato and the paper for his comment, saying he “fouled up.” He noted his tweet occurred during an emotional time when he was honoring his late father, who was a World War II pilot in the fight against Japan.<\/p>\n He declined to comment further Monday.<\/p>\n The Denver Post apologized on its website, saying that Frei’s tweet was disrespectful and unacceptable. (AP) \u2014 Tiger Woods says an unexpected reaction to prescription medicine led to his arrest on a DUI charge in Florida.Woods spent nearly four hours in the Palm Beach County Jail after being arrested early Monday on suspicion of DUI.The 14-time major champion says in a statement that alcohol wasn’t involved. Woods says he didn’t realize the mix of medications affected him that strongly.<\/p>\n He also says he understands the severity of what he did and takes full responsibility.<\/p>\n Woods had a fourth back surgery on April 20. He wrote in an update on his website last Wednesday that the fusion surgery gave him instant relief from pain and that he hasn’t felt this good in years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n NHL-ALL-STAR WEEKEND<\/p>\n PITTSBURGH (AP) \u2014 Commissioner Gary Bettman said Tampa will host the 2018 All-Star weekend, the surest sign yet that the NHL will actually bypass the Olympics.<\/p>\n The Lightning had been rumored to host the event, which will take place Jan. 27-28 at Amalie Arena, but the Olympics remained the elephant in the room. He was 78.<\/p>\n His family says he died Sunday in Key West, Florida.<\/p>\n Deford was a six-time Sports<\/span> Writer of the Year and a member of the National Association of Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame. He wrote with a lyrical elegance and was best known for his work at Sports<\/span> Illustrated and on National Public Radio. He retired this month from NPR’s “Morning Edition” after 37 years as a contributor.<\/p>\n He was the first sports<\/span> writer awarded the National Humanities Medal.
