Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s office responded to a cabin along Lake Ashtabula near Meyers Landing on May 30, 2017 for a call for service.<\/p>\n

Chief Deputy Don Fiebiger says a rural Oriska man had shot himself in the chest with a .22 caliber rifle, who was Life-Flighted to a Fargo hospital for\u00a0 treatment.<\/p>\n

More details coming as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 North Dakota National Guard, The Valley City-based 231st Brigade Maintenance Support Battalion, along with Guard and state and local officials will celebrate the ribbon cutting officially opening for operations the new facility, on Thursday June 1, 2017, at 1-p.m.<\/p>\n

Scheduled to speak are: U.S Senator John Hoeven, North Dakota Lt. Governor, Brent Sanford, and North Dakota Adjutant General, Major General Alan Dohrmann.<\/p>\n

The public is encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n

The $13 million project was completed this spring after construction began in June 2015. The building provides the National Guard with a new vehicle maintenance shop and unheated enclosed vehicle storage facility to support unit maintenance operations and training.<\/p>\n

The previous maintenance shop, which was located near the Valley City Airport, was not suitable for expansion to house the new equipment. Built in 1960, the building had only 3,230 square feet of floor space. The new building has more than 45,000 square feet.<\/p>\n

The location is 2135 7th Street SE, Valley City.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi) Jamestown city crews will begin<\/strong> flushing fire hydrants in the SE & SW areas beginning today (Wednesday) \u00a0and will continue the work throughout the City during normal working hours until completed.<\/p>\n

Please be aware of the possibility of lowered water pressure when flushing of hydrants occurs in the various areas.<\/u><\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 R.M. Stoudt in Jamestown is hosting the 10th Annual\u00a0Running of the Pink, \u00a05-K Run\/Walk, 10-K Run, Saturday, June 3, 2017, starting at 9-a.m.<\/p>\n

The event will be held rain or shine.<\/p>\n

Over $80,000 has been raised from the events, and last year\u00a0 topped over 600 registrants.\u00a0 400 were walkers participating in the 5-K \u00a0event.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Tara Kapp from R.M. Stoudt said, the latest registration count showed over 400 participants have pre-registered, so it\u2019s anticipated that at least 600 will participate.<\/p>\n

She added that last year a total of $30,000 was raised, including an R.M. Stoudt match of $15,000 in honor of Stoudt\u2019s 75th<\/sup> Anniversary in 2016.<\/p>\n

ALL PROCEEDS<\/strong> are donated locally to the JRMC Foundation & Women\u2019s Way Chapter to be used for Breast & Cervical Cancer screenings, education & needs.<\/p>\n

The funding also supports the \u201cNo Excuses\u201d program through the Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Foundation, \u00a0that allows screenings for those with no insurance, or limited insurance, to have the 3-D mammograms at JRMC at no cost.\u00a0\u00a0 The program also covers gasoline costs for those traveling to Jamestown for the screening from out of the area.\u00a0 More information by calling JRMC, or R.M. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A North Dakota sheriff who abruptly resigned last month has been arrested on five charges, including felony counts of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine and bribery.<\/p>\n

Forty-one-year-old Johnny Zip Lawson quit as Wells County sheriff on April 25, citing personal reasons. Court documents show that a warrant for his arrest was issued Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Lawson is also charged with misdemeanor counts of false information to a law enforcement officer, neglect of duty by a public official, and ingesting meth.<\/p>\n

Wells County officials scheduled a Wednesday afternoon news conference to talk about the case. Court documents do not list an attorney for Lawson.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The developer of the Dakota Access oil pipeline, which is expected to begin shipping oil to contractors on Thursday, will face scrutiny later this summer over whether it violated North Dakota rules during construction.<\/p>\n

North Dakota’s Public Service Commission is looking into whether Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners removed too many trees and shrubs, and whether it improperly reported the discovery of Native American artifacts. No artifacts were disturbed.<\/p>\n

ETP says it didn’t intentionally do anything wrong. If the three-member commission decides differently, the company could face tens of thousands of dollars in fines.<\/p>\n

Regulators decided during a Wednesday meeting to hold hearings in either July or August.<\/p>\n

ETP said earlier this month that the $3.8 billion pipeline would begin transporting crude on June 1 to fulfill contracts with shippers.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Gov. Doug Burgum says a newly created task force will support development of drone technology in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Burgum announced the task force Wednesday at the Drone Focus Conference in Fargo. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao also attended the conference.<\/p>\n

The governor says the UAS Detection and Counter-UAS Task Force will study government, business and research opportunities for drone technology and work with operators who want to test drone detection and countermeasures in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Burgum says North Dakota has already staked a position in drone applications and testing by investing $43 million to advance research and development.<\/p>\n

An Army report last fall cited more than 600 types of unmanned aerial systems being used in more than 80 countries.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump says he’ll announce his decision on the Paris climate accord “over the next few days.” That’s what Trump says in a tweet, and he adds: “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” A White House official says Trump’s expected to withdraw the United States from the landmark agreement. But the official says there may be “caveats in the language” that Trump uses to announce the withdrawal \u2014 and that could leave open the possibility that the decision isn’t final.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Kathy Griffin has lost a decade-long gig ringing in the new year for CNN as a backlash builds over her video displaying a likeness of President Donald Trump’s severed head. CNN, which had called the images “disgusting and offensive” after Griffin posted the video on Tuesday, announced Wednesday it would not invite her back for the special she had co-hosted annually. Griffin has apologized for the video.<\/p>\n

SHANGHAI (AP) \u2014 Activists are concerned that the Trump family’s commercial interests will interfere with U.S. leadership on human rights after the arrest and disappearance in China of three labor activists. They were investigating a Chinese company that produces shoes with Ivanka Trump’s brand. An official with Amnesty International says it’s “troubling” that the family will do business in China despite the country’s record on labor and human rights.<\/p>\n

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) \u2014 The Afghan government’s media center has raised the death toll from the massive suicide truck bombing in Kabul to 90 killed. The center also says that 400 people are now reported to have been wounded in the Wednesday morning attack. No group has claimed responsibility. The media center quoted a statement from the Afghan Ulema Council, the country’s top religious body that includes Muslim clerics, scholars and men of authority in religion and law, as giving the new casualty tolls.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump’s offer to world leaders to call him directly on his cellphone could open him up to charges of hypocrisy. During last year’s presidential campaign, Trump criticized Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for using a private email server while she was secretary of state. He insisted Clinton shouldn’t be given access to classified information because she’d leave it vulnerable to foreign foes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
