\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi) At approximately 3:30 pm on Thursday, June 1st<\/sup>, 2017, one individual escaped from a ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation funded addiction treatment unit at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown.\u00a0 The individual escaped from a fenced outdoor enclosure at the treatment facility.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The escapee is:\u00a0 Desiree Marie McKay, 33, 130 lbs, short brown hair and brown eyes (See attached picture below). Desiree was last seen wearing a medium blue t-shirt, khaki shorts and red frame glasses. She has a tattoo of a rose on her right and left hands and her left bicep area<\/p>\n

McKay has ties to the Jamestown, Bismarck, New England and Ft. Totten, ND areas.<\/p>\n

A vehicle was stolen from the Jamestown area at the approximate time of her escape.\u00a0 It is a white, 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe with chrome rims, ND license 917BCE.<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol is\u00a0asking for the public\u2019s assistance in locating McKay.\u00a0 If you spot McKay or the stolen Chevrolet Tahoe, do not approach her or the vehicle.\u00a0 Contact law enforcement immediately by dialing 911 or call North Dakota State Radio Communications Center at 1-800-472-2121.<\/p>\n

\"\"Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 \u2013 Senator John Hoeven Thursday joined North Dakota National Guard (NDNG) officials in dedicating their new $13 million vehicle maintenance facility in Valley City. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven helped secure<\/a> $10.8 million of the facility\u2019s $13 million cost, with the balance of funding coming from the National Guard Bureau. Hoeven joined Guard leaders at the groundbreaking<\/a> in 2015.<\/p>\n

Also on hand were, North Dakota Lt. Governor, Brent Sanford, and North Dakota Adjutant General, Major General Alan Dohrmann.<\/p>\n

Hoeven says, \u201cThis vehicle maintenance facility is a significant upgrade for the Guard and provides more space and new capabilities to keep the Guard\u2019s vehicles up and running.\u00a0 The old shop was more than 50 years old and could not accommodate the Guard\u2019s vehicles. This new maintenance facility was completed ahead of schedule and will help support our Guard members in their important missions to serve our state and nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new facility is 45,000 square feet, with 30,000 square feet in the maintenance shop and 15,000 square feet of vehicle storage space. It will support maintenance for up to 175 pieces of equipment. The new facility will allow Guard units to meet operational readiness and training objectives and it provides space for office supplies and parking, training and physical fitness areas and administrative offices. It meets guidelines for anti-terrorism Force Protection as well as requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.<\/p>\n

The old vehicle maintenance facility was built in 1960 and was a little over 3,200 square feet. Among other limitations, it could not accommodate the 231st Brigade Support Battalion\u2019s Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks. Senator Hoeven toured the constrained maintenance center in Valley City in 2014 and was able to secure funding for the new facility in the fiscal year 2015 government funding legislation.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says during a \u201cWarrant Roundup,\u201d\u00a0 agencies, Wednesday made a total of 14 arrests, and five committals to the State Hospital.<\/p>\n

He says the Warrant Roundup is conducted about once a month in conjunction with the Jamestown Police Department, the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office, The Stutsman County Narcotics Task Force, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and North Dakota Parole and probation.<\/p>\n

Chief Edinger also reported that about 5:15 -p.m. Wednesday at 4th<\/sup> Avenue Northwest, a vehicle failed to stop for authorities and an arrest was made following a high-risk traffic stop.<\/p>\n

He say occupants of the vehicle were taken into \u00a0custody, stemming from Task Force initiated incident.<\/p>\n

Edinger says one individual was apprehended at the bottom of the hill near Sunnyside Trailer Court stemming from the same incident.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced water release changes Thursday (Jun 1, 2017) at Jamestown Dam and Pipestem Dam.<\/p>\n

Bob Martin at Pipestem says the release from Pipestem Dam is increased from zero to 200 cfs.<\/p>\n

At Jamestown Dam the release is decreased from 650 cfs to 450 cfs.<\/p>\n

There is no change in the combined release, still at 650 cfs in the James River in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Martin says Pipestem Reservoir is\u00a0 21 feet into the flood storage area, with the goal to have it evacuated to the fall freeze up level by September 1, 2017.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown City Administrator Jeff Fuchs has announced that NDDOT Director Grant Levi has notified the City of a \u00a02018 grant award of $276,953 in the NDDOT Transportation Alternatives Program.<\/p>\n

Fuchs says The grant will allow construction of additional sidewalks on 12th Ave NE,\u00a0 from 5th St NE to 13th St NE, then east on the Airport Road to the JHS entrance and south to the High School. It also includes sidewalk between the High School and TRAC as well as funding from TRAC east to Eastwood Drive.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Fuchs adds, it\u2019s \u00a0great news for the residents of Jamestown as it will assist in providing a much safer pedestrian and bike route between JHS, TRAC and Gussner School areas.<\/p>\n

Fuchs added special thanks to Robin Iszler for putting the grant application together and all the others on her committee who assisted with this project.<\/p>\n

Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 As part of the Drivers License Services Optimization program, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will be reducing where drivers license services will be provided. Some part-time drivers license sites will discontinue operation, and services will be available at other drivers license locations.<\/p>\n

The other part-time sites that will no longer be providing drivers license services beginning September 1, 2017 include: Carrington, Lisbon and Wishek will not provide drivers license services. This does not affect motor vehicle registration and title services provided at the Motor Vehicle branch offices in Lisbon.<\/p>\n

Drivers License services are available in person or online, and locations in the area include Jamestown, Oakes and Valley City.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An online renewal process will be introduced this year so individuals who choose this option will not need to visit an office every other renewal cycle. More information on this online renewal process will be announced later this summer.<\/p>\n

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Two officials with the Standing Rock Sioux have been acquitted of disorderly conduct charges that were filed during early protests against the Dakota Access oil pipeline.<\/p>\n

Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault and Tribal Councilman Dana Yellow Fat were arrested on Aug. 12 for allegedly pushing back against a line of law enforcement officers in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

During their trial Wednesday, both men said they were only trying to protect older tribal members. Jurors quickly returned not-guilty verdicts.<\/p>\n

The Standing Rock tribe led the opposition against the $3.8 billion pipeline, alleging it threatened drinking water and tribal sites. Hundreds of people were arrested during protests last year.<\/p>\n

The pipeline developer denied the claims. The company was allowed this year to build the final leg of the pipeline to move North Dakota oil across South Dakota and Iowa to a plant in Illinois.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The North Dakota Legislature’s 141 members have been assigned to committees to study topics that could inspire bills for the next legislative session.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 Legislative Management committee on Wednesday assigned the lawmakers to conduct 50 studies on topics such as state retirement funding, health care and the financial condition of the state’s 11 public colleges and universities.<\/p>\n

Each committee will compile a report and any suggested legislation for the 2019 session.<\/p>\n

The Legislative Management committee is a 17-member panel that oversees the Legislature’s business between sessions.<\/p>\n

Republicans hold more than two-thirds majorities in both the North Dakota House and Senate, and they control the study and committee selection process.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota State University has won this year’s Summit League Commissioner’s Cup.<\/p>\n

The award goes to the school with the best overall performance in men’s and women’s athletics. South Dakota State University had won it the past four years.<\/p>\n

This year, the University of South Dakota took second, followed by SDSU, IUPUI and Denver.<\/p>\n

SDSU won the men’s award, and USD the women’s award. NDSU was second in both categories.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Mayors from major cities around the world say they remain committed to the Paris climate accord despite President Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the deal. In a statement Thursday, mayors of the world’s megacities committed to addressing climate change said that despite the U.S. move, American cities can continue to play a role in trying to prevent catastrophic global warming. The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, says climate change “poses a unique threat to the future of our planet.”<\/span><\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The Kremlin says Russia is committed to the Paris climate change accords. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, a spokesman for President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that Russia “thinks highly” of the accords and there is no alternative to it.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Former FBI director James Comey is set to testify June 8 before the Senate intelligence committee investigating Russian activities during last year’s election. The committee says Comey will testify in an open session, which will be followed by a closed session.<\/p>\n

PARIS (AP) \u2014 AP Interview: The head of the French government’s cyber security agency is warning of the approaching risk of “permanent war” in cyberspace because of hacking attacks for espionage and fraud by states and criminals. Guillaume Poupard said Thursday that “in terms of effects and impact, we are clearly getting closer to a state of war.” He lamented a lack of commonly agreed rules to govern cyberspace and said nations “must work collectively.”<\/p>\n

ST.PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) \u2014 The head of the French government’s cyber security agency, which investigated leaks from President Emmanuel Macron’s election campaign, says they found no trace of a notorious Russian hacking group behind the attack. In an interview in his office Thursday with The Associated Press, Guillaume Poupard said the Macron campaign hack “was so generic and simple that it could have been practically anyone.”<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The Palestinians are praising President Donald Trump’s decision not to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, saying it strengthens the chances of peace. President Mahmoud Abbas’ spokesman, Nabil Abu Rdeneh (nah-BEEL’ ah-boo reh-DAY’-nuh), says the decision is an “important positive step” that illustrates the U.S. seriousness about promoting peace.
