\"\"BISMARCK, N.D. (Sept. 8, 2017) \u2013 Gov. Doug Burgum\u00a0has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Monday, and encouraged North Dakota residents to do the same, in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.<\/p>\n

The governor\u2019s directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued by
\nPresident Donald Trump, who also requested that Americans observe a moment of silence at 7:46 a.m. Central Daylight Time on Monday to honor the nearly 3,000 victims of the attacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will always remember the tragedy of Sept. 11 and the heroism of those who selflessly risked their own lives to save others,\u201d Burgum said. \u201cThe spirit of sacrifice demonstrated on that day endures in our first responders and military members who serve those in need and protect our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The North Dakota 9\/11 Memorial Stair Climb will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the Capitol, 600 E. Boulevard Ave., Bismarck, as a way to honor and remember the New York Fire Department firefighters who gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. A 9\/11 Memorial Wall will be on display from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in conjunction with the stair climb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
