Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)-UJ)\u00a0 Fall Enrollment at University of Jamestown has been finalized for the 2017-18 school year.\u00a0 1136 students are enrolled at UJ this year, making this the largest number of students enrolled at the university in over a decade.<\/p>\n

UJ President, Dr. Robert Badal says, \u201cWe are happy to welcome a diverse groups of students to campus.\u00a0 Our students represent 30 states and 20 foreign countriesThe graduate programs at UJ have experienced steady growth over the last few years, and this year is no exception.\u00a0 Graduate programs as a group are up with growth in the Master of Education and Master of Arts in Leadership programs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimmie athletics programs will also see growth this year as the University launches first year teams in competitive dance, competitive cheerleading and eSports.\u00a0 Following accreditation approval, the Mechanical Engineering program will be a recruiting emphasis. Returning students will also notice that construction on Harold Newman Arena is nearly complete, and the facility is already in use.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The 1st<\/sup> Annual \u201cFriends of the Library,\u2019 Social and meeting will be on Thursday September 21, 2017 at 7-p.m., to be held at the Jamestown Arts Center.<\/p>\n

On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the library systems, Development Director, Bill Kennedy said to be discussed at the meeting and social is plans for the renovations of the Alfred Dickey Public Library in Downtown Jamestown.\u00a0 Cake will be served following the presentation.<\/p>\n

The \u201cCentennial Initiative,\u201d includes raising $500,000 for the renovations, anticipated to be completed by the 100th<\/sup> Anniversary of the Alfred Dickey Public Library in 2019.<\/p>\n

Renovations so far have included a new roof, and in the future plans are to upgrade the building\u2019s foundation, install new carpeting, new shelving and a computer table.<\/p>\n

Kennedy added that , the 1st<\/sup> of six Friends of the Library, Adult Program offerings is Tuesday September 19, 2017, at the Alfred Dickey Public Library, with the topic, \u201cChildbirth Education,\u201d with the speaker, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Jennifer Kross.<\/p>\n

The calls come from \u201cJMTN HOSP\u201d and a local 952-number. The call includes a pre-recorded message about booking an Orlando vacation.<\/p>\n

First reported in May this year, DeBorer said, \u201cWe learned\u00a0 that scammers are using our name and a local number to scam area residents.\u00a0 If you receive a call of this nature, please hang up.\u201d<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A family attorney has identified a teenager from Minnesota who died after being found unresponsive in a North Dakota State University residence hall.<\/p>\n

Attorney Paul O. Taylor issued a statement Monday identifying the teen as 17-year-old Devin Delaney of Burnsville. Taylor said the family requested privacy.<\/p>\n

Campus police were notified about an unresponsive teen at Sevrinson Hall about midday Sunday. The live-saving efforts of emergency medical crews were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

The teen was not a student at the Fargo university, which allows guests to stay overnight in dorms.<\/p>\n

Burnsville High School declined immediate comment. North Dakota’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation also declined comment.<\/p>\n

NDSU didn’t immediately provide additional details about the investigation.<\/p>\n

WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The zoo in Wahpeton has a new animal that’s considered spiritually significant in several Native American religions.<\/p>\n

The Chahinkapa Zoo has acquired a white bison named Ska from a ranch in Selfridge. Ska is named for the Native American word for white.<\/p>\n

The yearling weighs between 600 and 700 pounds. Zoo curator Tom Schmaltz says Ska is unique because he’s the product of recessive genes. White bison are rare. But Ska is not considered a true albino because he doesn’t have pink eyes.<\/p>\n

Ska shares zoo space with three other bison. Schmaltz says they get along great because bison are herd animals and like living together.<\/p>\n

The herd also includes Corso, which has served as the mascot of the North Dakota State University football team.<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A federal judge has partially sided with a company suing the Minot Public School District for $1.9 million in unpaid services following the 2011 Souris River flood.<\/p>\n

The reports that Storm Team Robbins, LLC was hired under the name ServPro of the Seacoast by the district to clean flood damaged schools. The Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursed most of those expenses.<\/p>\n

ServPro is suing the district for the remaining expenses. But district officials argue that ServPro’s owner told the district it wouldn’t be charged over what FEMA paid.<\/p>\n

Judge Daniel Hovland has ruled that there was a breach of contract. He says the lawsuit will be resolved by a jury trial.<\/p>\n

A trial scheduled for Oct. 10 has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies take on the VCSU Vikings in the annual football game on September 18, 2017 at VCSU\u2019s Shelly Ellig Field at 7-p.m.<\/p>\n

Along with the game there will be a Silent Auction.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies Programs.<\/p>\n

ATLANTA (AP) \u2014 Even with federal help, states typically have to pay tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to respond to floods, fires and other natural disasters, stressing their budgets. Tough economic times leading to lower tax revenue can make the problem worse, forcing states to cut spending for other programs and services. Two-thirds of all states had lower-than-expected tax revenue last year.<\/p>\n

PASADENA, Texas (AP) \u2014 A U.S. government hotline received three reports of spills at a heavily polluted Superfund toxic waste site near Houston after Harvey flooding. Aerial government photographs reviewed by The Associated Press appear to show black-colored water surrounding the waste site, flowing through a bayou and into the Houston Ship Channel. The Environmental Protection Agency says it has found no evidence that toxins washed off the site but is still assessing damage.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump is meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and says they “are giving it an absolute go”‘ in Middle East peace talks. Trump on Monday said that “we’re working very hard” to reach a deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.<\/p>\n

UNITED NATIONS (AP) \u2014 French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian says dissention and conflict are at their highest level since the Cold War, while cooperation among nations has become more difficult. He says that world leaders are gathering at the U.N. General Assembly for their annual meeting at “a critical moment” that is seeing “a worrying degradation of the international environment.”<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Senate Republicans are planning a final, uphill push to erase President Barack Obama’s health care law. But Democrats and their allies are mustering an all-out effort to block the GOP gambit. Leading the new charge for Republicans are South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham and Louisiana’s Bill Cassidy. They’ll need votes from 50 of the 52 GOP senators to succeed. After Sept. 30, special procedures expire and they’d need 60 votes. That would entail Democratic support, which they won’t get.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
