Steele will take an\u00a0oath of office and will be sworn in during a formal\u00a0ceremony at Alexandria, Virginia\u00a0Nov.17. He will serve under the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve\u00a0Affairs. The position carries a three-year term and is the equivalent to a\u00a0military two-star flag officer under Department of Defense protocol. Steele will\u00a0provide leadership and\u00a0vision for a team of more than 50 dedicated volunteers who\u00a0are spread all across North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Steele is\u00a0currently the Regional President of Southeast North Dakota Region \u2013 U.S. Bank\u00a0in Fargo. He has a degree from Valley City State\u00a0University, Valley City, North\u00a0Dakota in Business Administration. \u00a0He has\u00a0a long and distinguished record of association with numerous\u00a0community\u00a0volunteer organizations.<\/p>\n<p>With almost\u00a0half of the Nation\u2019s military force serving in the Guard or Reserve, Steele\u00a0will have a direct impact on these men\u00a0and women and\u00a0their civilian employers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0patriotic support of America\u2019s employers and the employees they share with the nation\u00a0ensures the viability of the all-volunteer force, and\u00a0thus our national\u00a0security,\u201d said Steele. \u201cESGR applauds employers who practice personnel\u00a0policies that support employee participation in the\u00a0Guard and Reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Steele\u00a0joins 53 other chairs who oversee the ESGR mission in all 50 states, three U.S.\u00a0territories and the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>ESGR seeks to foster a culture in which all employers\u00a0support and value the employment and military service of members of the\u00a0National Guard\u00a0and Reserve in the United States.
