News Feb 18, 2013)\u00a0 &#8212;\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports on Monday, at about 8: 26 a.m.,\u00a0at mile marker 265, three miles east of Jamestown,\u00a0a series of about three crashes resulted in a ten vechile pileup, which included six commercial vehicles, that closed I-94 for about five hours, to allow the scene to be investigated and ckean up.<\/p>\n<p>Extremely high wind, blowing snow, drifting and very icy roads, caused eastbound traffic to either slow or stop.<\/p>\n<p>Once this occurred rear end collisions and vehicles driving into the\u00a0 median and ditch began; two vehicles intentionally drove into the south ditch to avoid the massive wreck, totaling 12 vehicles, requiring towing.<\/p>\n<p>The last vehicle involved in the incident occurred about 2 hours after I-94 had been closed, when an eastbound Illinios vehicle drove around the close barricade in Jamestown\u00a0 and collided with a wrecked semi that remained in the passing lane.<\/p>\n<p>That vehicle was totaled, however, neither occupant was transported for injuries.<\/p>\n<p>A total of five individuals\u00a0 transported by Jamestown Ambulance Service, to Jamestown Regional Medical Center were treated and released with minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>Also, \u00a0North Dakota Highway 46, was closed for about two hours Monday while two jackknifed semis were removed about 4 miles east of Highway 281.<\/p>\n<p>Early Monday evening, eastbound I-94 was again shutdown for about 45 minutes while a jackknifed semi blocking both eastbound lanes were removed.<\/p>\n<p>Assisting the NDHP were the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reported earlier Monday&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) have OPENED the eastbound lane on I-94 from Jamestown to Valley City which was closed due to a traffic incident. Both lanes are now open to traffic.\u00a0 Officials are advising No Travel in the Jamestown and Valley City area due to areas of near zero visibility and icy conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Monday morning..the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP)\u00a0 temporarily closed both eastbound and westbound lanes on I-94 from Jamestown to Valley City due to a traffic incident 3 miles\u00a0east of Jamestown at mile marker 265,\u00a0 TO EXIT 292, that occurred about 8:30 AM.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The accident started with \u00a0semi losing its load and ending up in a ditch in the eastbound\u00a0lanes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Ambulances and wreckers\u00a0\u00a0were been called to the scene, along with law enforcement agencies of the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Stutsman County Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>There\u00a0is zero visibility with snow and blowing snow, Monday morning, and afternoon,\u00a0with several accidents during the morning hours.<\/p>\n<p>Many\u00a0vehicles are in\u00a0 the ditches\u00a0on the\u00a0Interstate and other roadways in the Stutsman County area.<\/p>\n<p>Also&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) have <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">closed I-29 from Grand Forks to the Canadian Border<\/span> due to blowing snow and drifting at interchanges, creating zero visibility and hazardous driving conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A \u00a0jackknifed semi has been removed from ND highway 46, (4 miles east of the Junction of Hwy 281 southeast of Jamestown) and it is now open to traffic.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>Travel Alert \u00a0<\/strong>is still in effect for, Wahpeton and\u00a0surrounding areas due to high winds causing blowing snow to stick to the roadway creating areas of scattered ice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feb 18, 2013 Update&#8230; 6-p.m&#8230;.
