\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Authorities report a female wanted on a warrant wanted for failing to report after being sentenced for prison time is now in custody.<\/p>\n

Stutsman County Narcotics Task Force Officer, Logan Hord notified the media on Monday (Oct 23, 2017) that Janessa Jean Marie Ryan, was arrested Monday in Jamestown without incident.<\/p>\n

The Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s office had asked for the community\u2019s assistance in locating two wanted individuals.<\/p>\n

Hord reported last week that 24 year old Levi Shawn Guthmiller who was also wanted was taken into custody without incident, on October 18, 2017 also without incident.<\/p>\n

Guthmiller was wanted by authorities in Minnesota on an arrest warrant for Felony Possession of Controlled Substance and Fleeing\/Eluding a Police Officer.<\/p>\n

Officer Hord thanked the community for their assistance.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Interstate Engineering in Jamestown reports, that the 5th<\/sup> Street Northeast project is in its final phase.<\/p>\n

In his E-Mail Ben Aaseth said, \u201cThe concrete subcontractor is working on the final speed table this week. There will be work going on behind the back of the curb as well, I am guessing the road will be done and striped by the end of next week.\u00a0 The top lift of the hot bituminous pavement will be on the final two phases next week.\u00a0 The sidewalk and others behind the curb work will continue over the next three weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

The $2.5 million project includes new curb and gutter and sidewalks on the street from 12th Avenue to 27th Avenue Northeast.<\/p>\n

The completion date was set for October 15th, however, \u00a0the contractor says there was still some items that needed finishing.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi) A Public hearing today\u00a0on Montana-Dakota Utilities proposed rate increase, is at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

The hearing will be in room 338, Rhoades Science Center, at Valley City State University.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi) \u00a0Valley City Public Schools Superintendent, Josh Johnson says, changes \u00a0at Valley City High School have been implemented with the bus loading and unloading zones.<\/p>\n

The bus loading and unloading zone from the north side of the high school at 5th Street,\u00a0to the east side of the high school on\u00a0Central Avenue.<\/p>\n

Johnson adds the change is being made to address safety concerns with\u00a0student pedestrian traffic and buses leaving the high school. A\u00a0bus zone will be designated on Central Avenue and vehicles will no longer be allowed to park in this area from 8:00am-4:00pm during school days. Those wishing to pick up or drop off students from the high School may do so on the north side 5th Street.<\/p>\n

Johnson said parents and visitors to the Junior High School will see a 15-minute parking spot outside of door No. 6 on the west side of the high school building. He adds, the spot on 2nd Street. West is designated for parents and visitors that need to quickly run into the school to drop something off\u00a0or are waiting for their student to come out. The reserved spot is only during school days from 8-am-4-pm.<\/p>\n

Northwood\u00a0 (CSi) \u2013 Farmers Union Insurance (FUI) reached an agreement with the Northwood Hockey Boosters of Northwood to secure the naming rights to their indoor arena. For the next 10 years, the hockey arena will be known as the Farmers Union Insurance Arena in this small community of about 1,000 people in northeastern North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Sales and marketing manager for FUI Kevin Ressler, says, \u00a0\u201cThis sponsorship fits perfectly with our \u2018Simply Different\u2019 brand. \u201d It doubles down on our belief of supporting rural communities and the folks who live there. Because this facility is important to the community of Northwood, it\u2019s important to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

A group of passionate leaders in the Grand Forks County town built the arena in 2014 through donations. Ressler said Northwood has a vibrant youth hockey program, and FUI lent earlier support to the booster club with a logo-on-ice sponsorship agreement.<\/p>\n

Northwood Hockey Boosters, President, Bryan Brenden, “Farmers Union has really stepped up to the faceoff circle for us and Ice Storm Hockey.\u00a0 The funds will allow us to continue to offer equipment, at no cost, to a majority of our hockey players and also focus on what matters \u2013 the kids in our program.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ressler adds, \u201cI hope we can continue our commitment in the future, because that\u2019s what really separates us from other insurance companies. Most major brands have left small towns and pulled their agents. We\u2019ve actually increased the number of agencies we have in small towns to serve the population that meets our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

FUI is also the premier sponsor of the North Dakota High School Activities Association, and the BEK Broadcasting Network which televises high school athletic competitions throughout North Dakota. The company sponsors numerous other sports organizations and activities. Last year, FUI purchased the naming rights to an expansion rink, the Farmers Union Insurance Center, attached to the Scheels Arena in Fargo, home of Fargo Force hockey.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A task force made up of representatives from Minnesota and North Dakota is meeting to talk about the stalled Red River diversion project around the flood-prone Fargo-Moorhead area.<\/p>\n

The 16-member group organized by North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton includes elected representatives from both states and residents who live upstream and downstream from Fargo.<\/p>\n

Upstream residents are suing over the project because they believe there is a better plan that won’t flood private land. A federal judge last month halted construction because the project does not have the necessary permits from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.<\/p>\n

Burgum says the task force is “a talented group of people who are collaborative thinkers.”<\/p>\n

The group has a Dec. 15 deadline to come up with recommendations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The North Dakota Census Office says the state has the highest percentage of millennials in the country.<\/p>\n

Office manager Kevin Iverson says many millennials moved to the state in the early years of the oil boom and have stayed. The number of millennials has increased in Fargo, Bismarck and Grand Forks where unemployment is low.<\/p>\n

Iverson tells KFGO the age of North Dakotans is younger than the national average and has been since 2009. He says another result of a younger demographic is a big increase in the number of children under five, up 24 percent between 2010 and 2012.<\/p>\n

SALINAS, Calif. (AP) \u2014 A California company has voluntarily recalled packaged vegetables distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada because of possible bacterial contamination.<\/p>\n

Mann Packing of Salinas says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the products. The recall was ordered last week after random testing in Canada turned up a single positive result for listeria.<\/p>\n

The vegetables have “best if used by” dates from Oct. 11 through Oct. 20.<\/p>\n

The recalled brands are: Signature Farms products sold at Albertsons; Archer Farms products sold at Target; kohlrabi salad blends sold at Trader Joe’s; several varieties of broccoli and cauliflower sold at Walmart; and at least 30 Mann branded bags of veggies.<\/p>\n

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump is reassuring Americans who may have worried that they’d see limits on what they could save in 401(k) retirement accounts. He tweeted that there will be “no change” to the tax incentives for the accounts, which he says have offered a “great and popular middle class tax break.” The New York Times reported that GOP lawmakers were considering limiting the amount workers could save. House Republicans are hoping to pass a budget this week so they can focus on tax reform.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The widow of a fallen soldier is criticizing President Donald Trump over his condolence call last week. Myeshia Johnson, La David Johnson’s widow, says she was angered by his tone and that he couldn’t remember her husband’s name. Trump quickly responded Monday on Twitter that he’d been “very respectful” and spoke the name “without hesitation.”<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Sen. John McCain says he does not consider President Donald Trump to be a draft dodger. But McCain is criticizing the system that allowed Trump and other wealthy Americans to use medical deferments to avoid military service during the Vietnam War. The Arizona Republican says during an appearance on ABC’s “The View” that he believes “the system was so wrong that certain Americans could evade their responsibilities to serve the country.”<\/p>\n

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) \u2014 New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has launched a civil right investigation into The Weinstein Co. following sexual assault allegations against its co-founder, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Schneiderman’s office has issued a subpoena seeking company records relating to harassment complaints and settlements. The Democrat says his office wants to know whether workers at the New York-based company were subjected to pervasive harassment or discrimination.<\/p>\n

BEIRUT (AP) \u2014 Syrian officials and activists say the bodies of at least 67 civilians, many summarily killed by the Islamic State group, have been discovered in a central town in Syria that government forces retook from the extremists over the weekend. A senior Syrian official described the attack as a “shocking massacre,” saying the search for and documentation of those killed in the town of Qaryatayn is still underway.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
