Tuesday Morning…Update…<\/p>\n

\u00a0Tues Feb 19, 2013\u20269-AM\u2026.The North Dakota Department of Transportation and North Dakota Highway Patrol have opened<\/strong> I-29 from Grand Forks to the Canadian Border and the No Travel Advisory for northeast North Dakota has been Lifted.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Snow plow crews are out in full force working to clear roads, so please remember to watch for plows and don\u2019t crowd the plow.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND\u00a0 (KCSi-T.V. News Feb 18, 2013)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports on Monday, at about 8: 26 a.m.,\u00a0at mile marker 265, three miles east of Jamestown,\u00a0a series of about three crashes resulted in a ten vechile pileup, which included six commercial vehicles, that closed I-94 for about five hours, to allow the scene to be investigated and ckean up.<\/p>\n

Extremely high wind, blowing snow, drifting and very icy roads, caused eastbound traffic to either slow or stop.<\/p>\n

Once this occurred rear end collisions and vehicles driving into the\u00a0 median and ditch began; two vehicles intentionally drove into the south ditch to avoid the massive wreck, totaling 12 vehicles, requiring towing.<\/p>\n

The last vehicle involved in the incident occurred about 2 hours after I-94 had been closed, when an eastbound Illinios vehicle drove around the close barricade in Jamestown\u00a0 and collided with a wrecked semi that remained in the passing lane.<\/p>\n

That vehicle was totaled, however, neither occupant was transported for injuries.<\/p>\n

A total of five individuals\u00a0 transported by Jamestown Ambulance Service, to Jamestown Regional Medical Center were treated and released with minor injuries.<\/p>\n

The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

Also, \u00a0North Dakota Highway 46, was closed for about two hours Monday while two jackknifed semis were removed about 4 miles east of Highway 281.<\/p>\n

Early Monday evening, eastbound I-94 was again shutdown for about 45 minutes while a jackknifed semi blocking both eastbound lanes were removed.<\/p>\n

Assisting the NDHP were the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

\u00a0In Minnesota, a fatal crash occurred about 11:30 a.m. Monday. \u00a0A semi was westbound in the left land of I-94 as a Department of Transportation snowplow cleared the right lane. A motorist tried to drive between the vehicles, smashing into both.<\/p>\n

\u00a0McVILLE, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a man who died in a snowmobile crash over the weekend.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lt. Aaron Hummel said Tuesday that 59-year-old Michael Duane Barney of Michigan, N.D., was killed while traveling west on Horseshoe Lake. Barney’s snowmobile hit a slight grade and went airborne adjacent to Nelson County Road 35.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Police say Barney cleared the road, lost control of the snowmobile and rolled on the west side of Horshoe Lake. The accident occurred about 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Barney was taken to Nelson County Hospital, where he died from his injuries.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota woman is facing criminal charges in a vehicle-pedestrian accident that killed two people.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sheila Morin has been indicted in federal court with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. She has pleaded not guilty.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Authorities say Morin was drunk on Oct. 27 when she caused the accident that killed 41-year-old Jennifer Crissler and 30-year-old Lacey Delorme.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Trial has been scheduled for April 23.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lawyers in the case were not immediately available for comment.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Senate on Monday approved two anti-abortion bills that would ban the destruction of human embryos and outlaw abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Senators voted 30-17 to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy based on the disputed premise that at that point a fetus can feel pain. The measure is a challenge to the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion up until viability, usually at 22 to 24 weeks.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The embryo measure narrowly passed 24-23. The measure’s aim is to regulate in vitro fertilization and prohibit intentional destruction of embryos.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bill also defines a human being as a fertilized egg and requires the state to expand Medicaid coverage to all pregnant women.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Microsoft could expand its Fargo-based campus as early as 2015. Microsoft’s local branch is running near 100 percent capacity in its three buildings. Site leader Don Morton says with significant growth projected, the computer giant may consider adding two new buildings.<\/p>\n

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A new study documents a loss of 1.3 million acres of grassland over a five-year period in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa. The research by Christopher Wright and Michael Wimberly of the Geographic Information Science Center of Excellence at South Dakota State University says a doubling in commodity prices has created incentives for landowners to convert grassland to corn and soybean cropping.<\/p>\n

\u00a0LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss has died at the age of 80. Buss had been hospitalized for cancer, but the immediate cause of death was kidney failure, according to his assistant, Bob Steiner. Buss purchased the Lakers in 1979 and saw the team win 10 NBA championships and reach the finals 16 times.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Timberwolves return from the All-Star break tomorrow night to face the Philadelphia 76ers at Target Center. \u00a0FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) – The Minnesota Twins are being patient with pitcher Rich Harden. The right-hander is trying to win a job on the team after missing a season because of surgery on his rotator cuff. UNDATED (AP) – Derek Jeter received an ovation that could be heard throughout Steinbrenner Field when he jogged onto the diamond for the New York Yankees’ first full-squad workout Monday.
