BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A driver who pleaded guilty in a fatal bicycle crash in Bismarck is sentenced to four years in prison.<\/p>\n

Twenty-nine-year-old Darci Voldness, of Jamestown, pleaded guilty to felony negligent homicide and misdemeanor ingesting a controlled substance in September. Voldness made a U-turn at Buckstop Junction in August 2016 and collided with bicyclist Denver Glas. The 33-year-old Linton man was thrown from his bike.<\/p>\n

The Bismarck Tribune reports Voldness will also spend three years on probation and has been ordered to pay nearly $11,000.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi) Jamestown voters in 2018 will be electing at least one new City Council member.<\/p>\n

Ramone Gumke tells CSiNewsNow.com that when he was first elected in 2010 it was his plan to only serve two terms if he was re-elected, as he feels that serving more than two terms an elected representative, can become complacent and possibly lose their drive.<\/p>\n

Gumke says he plans to run for seat on the Stutsman County Commission in 2018, and bring his talents and knowledge he\u2019s gain in public service to the county.<\/p>\n

Also in 2018 Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen\u2019s term is up for election.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi-United Way) –\u00a0 <\/em>The United Way of Stutsman County welcomed Lana Meissner, 21st<\/sup> Century Community Learning Centers (21 CCLC) MOST site coordinator for Jamestown to present at its monthly meeting in October.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota South East Education Cooperative (SEEC) operates the MOST (Meaningful Out of School Time) in Jamestown. MOST is a United Way Agency and has three participating schools in Jamestown. Student registrations in Jamestown are at the following participating schools: Lincoln Elementary School:70 students, Roosevelt Elementary School: 55, and Washington Elementary School has 35.\u00a0 The program is open for children from kindergarten through 5th grade.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during out-of-school time for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and\/or low-performing schools. It helps students meet state and local education standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers other educational services to the families of participating children.<\/p>\n

Lana Meissner noted the program is structured to ensure there is a nice balance of educational activities as well as recreational.\u00a0 United Way funds are used for snacks, activity items and staff needed to run the program.\u00a0 Lana was proud to announce that they utilize local university students in the educational programs which is very beneficial for the university and the MOST program.\u00a0 United Way of Stutsman County thanks Lana and the MOST program for presenting at the monthly meeting and for their work in this important program for our community.     Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The NDDOT has announced a Public Input Meeting will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on November 16, 2017, from, 5-p.m., to 7-p.m., at the Carrington City Hall, 103 10th Avenue North, in Carrington.<\/p>\n

    The purpose of the Public Input Meeting is to discuss proposed improvements to US 52 from the junction of US\u00a0281\/ND 200 to the south edge of Carrington.\u00a0 The meeting will provide opportunity for public input. Representatives from the NDDOT will be on hand to answer questions and discuss concerns.<\/p>\n

    The meeting will utilize an open house format.<\/p>\n
