(AP) \u2014 Two people have been arrested for a shooting at an apartment building in Fargo.<\/p>\n Several apartments were evacuated late Sunday night after shots were fired in one unit. The Red River Regional SWAT team was called after a couple in the apartment where the shots were fired refused to come out.<\/p>\n KFGO says multiple bullet holes were found in the apartment and in the door of an apartment across the hall. A 31-year-old woman who lives in the apartment and a 31-year-old man eventually surrendered.<\/p>\n Police have not said what motivated the gunfire.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota State University police are investigating some acts of vandalism at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex and elsewhere on campus.<\/p>\n Authorities say four large windows at the complex were broken with shots from a BB or pellet gun. Also three bus stops on campus were damaged by a similar gun.<\/p>\n Police say the person or people responsible could face felony charges because the damage is in the thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The chancellor of the North Dakota University System is denying allegations of discrimination and harassment by a former vice chancellor.<\/p>\n Chancellor Mark Hagerott tells The Associated Press that he “strongly disagrees” with the complaint filed this month by Lisa Feldner. Hagerott says the allegations are a “distraction” from the business of education.<\/p>\n State Board of Higher Education Chairman Don Morton says he also “strongly disagrees” with Feldner’s accusations.<\/p>\n Hagerott fired Feldner in September but gave no reason.<\/p>\n Feldner’s 17-page complaint to the state Labor Department details several allegations against her former boss that she said created a hostile work environment.<\/p>\n Feldner says several women complained about Hagerott touching them, but not in a sexual manner. Feldner accuses him of patting women like “children or pets” in a “condescending” manner.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Crookston, Minnesota, woman will serve nearly six years in prison for trying to cover up a killing at a North Dakota truck stop.<\/p>\n U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson also on Monday ordered 33-year-old Lorie Ortiz placed on three years of supervised release after she serves her prison time.<\/p>\n Ortiz was charged as an accessory after the fact in the shooting death of 24-year-old Austin Forsman. Forsman was shot as he sat in his vehicle outside the Flying J Truck Stop in Grand Forks in March 2016.<\/p>\n Authorities say the killing was drug-related and the investigation resulted in 13 indictments in federal court. Authorities say Ortiz was involved in destroying or attempting to destroy evidence, namely cellphones, in an effort to help participants in the killing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The Bismarck area is becoming a hot spot for microbreweries in central North Dakota.<\/p>\n Bismarck, Mandan and the surrounding area could be home to six of the state’s nearly 20 microbreweries by next year.<\/p>\n The craft beer industry is also increasing demand for locally grown ingredients.<\/p>\n Bismarck-based Two Track Malting Company started making craft malt barley in June 2016. It now has a waitlist and recently doubled its production from 5 tons (about 4.5 metric tons) of malt each week to 10 tons (about 9 metric tons).<\/p>\n Ted Hoffman founded the North Dakota Brewers Guild. He says bars are now asking for 5-gallon (19-liter) kegs rather than 16-gallon (61-liter) kegs because they want to put more beers on tap from the growing number of local craft breweries.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s superintendent is asking teachers statewide to review academic standards for science, health, early learning and the arts as the process for drafting new benchmarks gets underway.<\/p>\n The process of updating those standards is expected to last until next fall. The standards are measurements of what students are expected to know and be able to do as they progress through elementary, middle and high school.<\/p>\n State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler is asking teachers who specialize in science, health, the arts or early learning to apply to serve on one of the four content committees that will draft standards. (AP) \u2014 Hunters killed six mountain lions during the early season in North Dakota’s Zone 1, which ended Sunday.<\/p>\n The harvest limit was eight. The late season, when hunters can purse mountain lions with dogs opened Monday and runs through March 31 \u2014 or until the late season harvest of seven total lions or three female lions is reached.<\/p>\n After the late season, the Game and Fish Department says a conditional season could open five days later to pursue the additional two lions that weren’t taken during the early season. Zone 1 includes land in western North Dakota. The rest of the state outside Zone 1 has no harvest limit.<\/p>\n The mountain lion season is open only to North Dakota residents.
