Another clipper\/cold front<\/a> with more wind and light snow is slated<\/p>\n for Tuesday and Wednesday. Some minor snowfall accumulations can<\/p>\n be anticipated for western\/central ND.<\/p>\n An arctic front<\/a> Monday into Tuesday bringing the much colder air, gusty winds and some wind chills<\/p>\n possibly below zero Tuesday through Thursday.<\/p>\n The precipitation chances and amounts will be modest.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports\u00a0multiple vehicles, including a MSUM team bus were involved in a crash about 2:30-p.m., Friday westbound on I-94 30 miles west of Jamestown.<\/p>\n The reports says, the 1995 Motor Coach Industries bus transporting the team operated by 70 year old Robert Philpott, of Moorhead, and a 2005 Buick Terraza, driven by 35 year old Joell Hill of Fargo were traveling in the left lane on Interstate 94.<\/p>\n Around MM 227 a vehicle was stopped in the right lane due to the driver having a medical issue. A semi swerved to the left lane in front of the Buick to miss the vehicle stopped in the right lane. The driver of the Buick applied brakes for the the semi and was rear ended by the Motor Coach. The Motor Coach is owned by Richards Transport Service, \u00a0transporting the Minnesota State University – Moorhead basketball team to a game in Bismarck, with 20 passengers.<\/p>\n The Buick\u00a0passengers,\u00a0included nine year old girl and a five year old boy.\u00a0\u00a0A\u00a0\u00a0third juvenile\u00a0 18 months old was properly restrained. (AP) \u2014 The first people to be sent to jail for protesting the Dakota Access oil pipeline in North Dakota have appealed to the state’s Supreme Court.<\/p>\n Sixty-four-year-old Mary Redway of Providence, Rhode Island, and 27-year-old Alexander Simon of Lamy, New Mexico, were convicted Oct. 19 of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Redway served four days in jail and Simon 12 days.<\/p>\n The Bismarck Tribune reports<\/a> both are appealing their convictions, as is a third protester, 46-year-old Kevin Decker of St. Joseph, Missouri. He also was convicted of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He was sentenced in February to a year of probation and $1,585 in fines and fees.<\/p>\n Protests against the pipeline resulted in 761 arrests from August 2016 to February 2017. Opponents worried about environmental harm, which the developer said were unfounded.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A project to map trees on the Northern Plains using aerial imagery is helping the North Dakota Forest Service get a better handle on the state’s tree resources.<\/p>\n The state has partnered with the forest service departments of Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota to collect data and determine where critical tree resources are declining.<\/p>\n Forest health officials say nearly 2 percent of the state’s area is native forest, and that the weather and soil isn’t conducive to traditional forests.<\/p>\n North Dakota planted windbreaks after severe dust storms in the 1930s, but their condition is aging. Forest Health Manager Lezlee Johnson says landowners are concerned about the windbreak infrastructure.<\/p>\n Johnson says the project’s results could double the amount of tree cover that was previously counted under the state forest inventory program.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Miss America Cara Mund has been named grand marshal of the 2018 North Dakota State Fair Parade.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old Bismarck native won the Miss America competition in September. Friday afternoon in the elimination bracket of the 2017 NAIA Volleyball Championship.<\/p>\n UJ lost a close first set, 26-24, then were outhit .333-.103 in losing 25-11 to fall behind 2-0. Jamestown’s hitting woes continued in the third set, as they made 10 errors in 41 attack attempts and hit just .073 in a 25-18 third set loss.<\/p>\n Morgan Hensch<\/a> (SR\/Fergus Falls, Minn.) had 11 kills to lead the offense.
