Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session on Monday at 3:30-p.m. to discuss negotiations concerning the City Administrator’s position offered to Chris Schilken.<\/p>\n

Schilken, a loan manager and lender at Prairie Federal Credit Union in Minot, was recently offered the position having been interviewed by a city committee along with other candidates.<\/p>\n

All members were present, plus current City Administrator Jeff Fuchs, and City Attorney, Leo Ryan.<\/p>\n

The Council adjourned into Closed Executive Session pursuant to the North Dakota Century Code: SECTION 44-04-18.4 AND SECTION 44-04-19.2.<\/p>\n

Following the Executive Session that lasted about 30 minutes, the City Council re-convened into open session.<\/p>\n

Council Member Brubakken moved to withdraw the present offer, and to direct the hiring committee to look at other options to provide to the City Council, and discontinue the present discussions with Schilken.<\/p>\n

The Council voted unanimously to approve the motion.<\/p>\n

Following the meeting Mayor Andersen told CSiNewsNow.com that she had no additional comments on the action, other than what was public record.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (VCPW-CSi)\u00a0 Valley City Public Works is requesting if anyone notices electrical blinks or power issues to please contact VCPW.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s going on with the light, such as being out completely, going off and on or just stuck on.\u00a0 For power issues, such as flickering lights or brief outages. Please record date and time.<\/p>\n

This will help public works resolve the issue in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to the Jamestown Regional Airport parking lot just before 6-a.m. Monday where a late model car was on fire.<\/p>\n

Lt. Sheldon Mohr says the 2004 Buick LeSabre was just parked by the driver when the engine fire totaled the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The specific cause was undetermined.<\/p>\n

Four city fire units and 27 fire fighters were on the scene about 40 minutes.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A North Dakota woman has pleaded guilty in the killing of a pregnant neighbor so she and her boyfriend could keep the baby.<\/p>\n

Thirty-eight-year-old Brooke Crews could face life in prison after pleading guilty Monday to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and murder, and lying to law officers in the death of 22-year-old Savanna Greywind, of Fargo.<\/p>\n

Crews’ attorney said she wanted to take responsibility for her actions, but Crews didn’t offer details on how Greywind was killed. Authorities haven’t said either.<\/p>\n

Greywind was eight months pregnant when she disappeared in August. Kayakers found her body wrapped in plastic in a river. The baby was found alive in the apartment Crews shared with her 32-year-old boyfriend, William Hoehn. He’s scheduled for trial in March.<\/p>\n

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Grand Forks police are investigating the death of a woman found along a sidewalk in the city.<\/p>\n

Authorities say 75-year-old Bisnu Kami was found dead about 5 a.m. Sunday next to the sidewalk. She was from Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

Investigators haven’t said how she died, But they say foul play is not suspected.<\/p>\n

CRARY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Fordville man is dead after a pickup truck crash in Ramsey County.<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol says 90-year-old Edgar Behm lost control of his truck on an icy county road east of Crary about 8:30 a.m. Monday, and the vehicle overturned in the ditch.<\/p>\n

He died at the scene.\u00a0 There were no passengers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s Agriculture Department at the end of the month is deactivating an online map it set up in June to help drought-impacted farmers and ranchers.<\/p>\n

The Drought Hotline map<\/a> was launched to help connect producers in need of hay and those with hay to sell, or pasture or hay land to rent. It will be deactivated on Dec. 29.<\/p>\n

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the map has had participants from 33 states and two Canadian provinces, and it’s been viewed 11,000 times.<\/p>\n

Much of central and western North Dakota was mired in severe, extreme and even exceptional drought during the growing season.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Denver woman accused of shooting at law enforcement officers during a protest against the Dakota Access pipeline in North Dakota is seeking to suppress some evidence and statements she made to police.<\/p>\n

The Bismarck Tribune reports<\/a> attorneys for Red Fawn Fallis argued during a two-day hearing in federal court in Bismarck that her arrest in October 2016 violated her free speech rights.<\/p>\n

The hearing ended Monday. Attorneys agreed to file written arguments by Dec. 18.<\/p>\n

Fallis is set for trial beginning Jan. 29 on allegations she fired a handgun three times as officers tried to arrest her. No one was hurt. She has pleaded not guilty to federal charges that include discharge of a firearm in a crime of violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Federal geologists say they will reevaluate the amount of recoverable crude oil in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Sen. John Hoeven and industry officials requested the new assessment by the U.S. Geological Survey, saying it would likely attract investment by showing stronger production potential.<\/p>\n

Hoeven says he was notified of the new assessment Monday.<\/p>\n

Industry officials and Hoeven want the USGS to take into account 17 other formations in western North Dakota’s oil patch that could be exploited using technology developed for the Bakken and the Three Forks directly beneath it.<\/p>\n

North Dakota Petroleum Council President Ron Ness says the new assessment should “provide a much clearer picture of the resources we have in North Dakota.”<\/p>\n

No details were announced on when the assessment would start, or when it would be completed.<\/p>\n

STANTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The National Park Service has named a new superintendent for the Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site at Stanton.<\/p>\n

The Minot Daily News reports that Brenda Todd is a10-year veteran of the National Park Service. She’s currently the program manager at the Public Lands History Center at Colorado State University.<\/p>\n

Todd holds a doctoral degree in anthropology with a specialization in archaeology from the University of Colorado. She has worked with tribes and agencies throughout the country.<\/p>\n

Todd begins her new duties Feb. 4. She succeeds Wendy Ross, who is now superintendent of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

WAITE PARK, Minn. (AP) \u2014 Prosecutors have charged a St. Cloud man jailed in North Dakota with murder in a fatal shooting at an apartment in central Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Twenty-year-old Desmond Ormandy Barzey was charged Monday in Stearns County with unintentional second-degree murder as well as assault and being a felon in possession of a handgun.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Barzey entered an apartment in Waite Park, pointed a handgun and ordered everyone to empty their pockets. One man threw a shirt at Barzey and began moving toward him when Barzey allegedly shot him in the chest.<\/p>\n

The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital. Barzey fled and was arrested after a police chase near Bismarck early Sunday. Police recovered a handgun from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Barzey is being held in the Burleigh County Jail, awaiting extradition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) \u2014 Tom Brady was intercepted twice by Xavien (ZAY’ vee-ihn) Howard and was held without a third-down conversion Monday night, as the Miami Dolphins snapped the New England Patriots’ eight-game winning streak with a surprising 27-20 victory.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins (6-7) were 11-point underdogs at home, but they kept the Patriots (10-3) from clinching their ninth consecutive AFC East title \u2014 at least for another week.<\/p>\n

Brady went 24 for 43 for 233 yards and one touchdown. Miami sacked him twice and hit him five times, and held the Patriots to 25 yards rushing. New England was 0 for 11 on third down.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins’ Jay Cutler threw for 263 yards and three scores, including two to Jarvis Landry. Kenyan Drake had 114 yards rushing and 79 receiving.<\/p>\n

Wentz torn ACL…<\/p>\n

PHILADELPHIA (AP) \u2014 Carson Wentz got the Eagles this far. Now, it’s up to Nick Foles to deliver Philadelphia its first Super Bowl title. Wentz has a torn left ACL and will miss the rest of the season and playoffs, forcing the NFC East champions to turn to a familiar backup who once had one of the greatest statistical seasons in NFL history. In 2012, Foles posted a passer rating of 119.2, the third highest. He led the Eagles to their last playoff appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vikings…<\/p>\n

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) \u2014 The Minnesota<\/span> Vikings returned home from Carolina with a long list of uncharacteristic blunders that contributed to their first loss in 10 weeks. The timing of the 31-24 defeat by the Panthers could work out well. The Vikings have plenty of time to re-establish momentum for the playoffs. The health of the offensive line is a concern. Coach Mike Zimmer says the ankle injury to left tackle Riley Reiff is not as bad as feared.<\/span><\/p>\n

MLB-WINTER…<\/p>\n

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) \u2014 No matter how much their fans imagined Giancarlo Stanton bashing balls over the Green Monster, the Boston Red Sox never came close to getting the NL MVP.<\/p>\n

But does anyone really expect the Red Sox or the Cubs and other top contenders to stand still after seeing the slugger join the dreaded New York Yankees?<\/p>\n

Dave Dombrowski, Boston’s president of baseball operations, says the team is “looking for a middle of the order bat. That hasn’t changed. First base or DH.”<\/p>\n

A couple of big hitters just happen to be available, too.<\/p>\n

J.D. Martinez, who launched four home runs in a game for Arizona last season, is a free agent. So is Eric Hosmer, coming off a career year in Kansas City.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the Chicago Cubs think bopper Kyle Schwarber might fit better somewhere else. The Cubs already seems to have a target at the swap-and-sign gathering in Florida: pitcher Alex Cobb, who could possibly take Jake Arrieta’s spot in the rotation for the NL Central champs.<\/p>\n

COLLEGE BASKETBALL POLL<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Villanova is the new No. 1 in the AP Top 25 while Arizona State made a big leap after a tumultuous week in which half of the top 10 lost.<\/p>\n

The Villanova Wildcats (10-0) were fourth but earned 41 of 65 first-place votes to hop over Michigan State, which earned 19 first-place votes to climb from third to second. They were the favorites to take over at the top following unanimous No. 1 Duke’s weekend loss at Boston College.<\/p>\n

Wichita State climbed three spots to No. 3, followed by Duke and Arizona State. The Sun Devils (9-0) jumped 11 spots and earned the other five first-place votes after winning at then-No. 2 Kansas to extend their best start since the 1974-75 season.<\/p>\n

The Jayhawks fell to No. 13 after two losses.<\/p>\n

Unbeaten Miami climbed four spots to No. 6, followed by North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Xavier to round out the top 10.<\/p>\n

WOMENS COLLEGE BASKETBALL POLL<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Tennessee moves back into the top 10 after a big win while UConn continues to be No. 1 in The Associated Press women’s basketball poll.<\/p>\n

The Lady Vols (10-0) knocked off then-No. 2 Texas on Sunday and climbed four spots to seventh in the Top 25 on Monday. Tennessee, which was a perennial top team in the sport<\/span>, hasn’t been among the first 10 teams in the poll since Nov. 30, 2015. The Longhorns dropped six spots to eighth.<\/p>\n

Both teams are chasing the Huskies (8-0), who routed DePaul in their only game this past week. UConn received all 32 first place votes from a national media panel. The Huskies, like many other teams, are off for exams this week.<\/p>\n

Notre Dame, Louisville, Mississippi State and South Carolina follow UConn. Baylor, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon and West Virginia round out the first 10.<\/p>\n

Iowa (10-1) entered the Top 25 for the first time since 2015, coming in at No. 25. Kentucky fell out.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Commuters returning to New York City’s subway system on Tuesday, one day after a would-be suicide bomber attack, will be met with heightened security. President Donald Trump renewed his call for close scrutiny of foreigners who come to the U.S. and less immigration following the Monday rush-hour blast. Akayed Ullah was arrested in the bombing near the Port Authority bus terminal.<\/p>\n

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) \u2014 A turbulent Senate election is down to voters in Alabama who will choose between Republican Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones. Polls open Tuesday morning. Multiple women have accused Moore of sexual misconduct when they were in their teens and he was in his 30s. Moore is now 70 and denies the charges. He says voters know his character already. Jones says “decency” must prevail. He’s urging Alabama voters to see the race as a “crossroads” with a chance to improve the state’s image.<\/p>\n

MIDLAND CITY, Ala. (AP) \u2014 The wife of embattled Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore fought back against accusations that her husband doesn’t support blacks or Jews, saying at one point that one of their attorneys “is a Jew.” Speaking at a campaign rally Monday night in Midland City, Alabama, Kayla Moore pointed out that her husband appointed the first black marshal to the state Supreme Court. She said they also have many friends who are black.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump is pushing back against sexual misconduct allegations. Trump says he’s the target of “false accusations and fabricated stories of women who I don’t know and\/or have never met.” Trump lashed out on Twitter Tuesday, a day after three women who previously accused Trump of sexual harassment shared their stories on NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today.” Trump says Democrats “have been unable to show any collusion with Russia” and now are “moving on” to these allegations.<\/p>\n

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) \u2014 The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Mayor Edwin Lee has died. He was 65. The newspaper is citing a statement by the mayor’s office that states that Lee passed away Tuesday just after 1 a.m. at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The statement says family, friends and colleagues were at Lee’s side.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
