SIOUX CITY, Iowa\u00a0 UJ.edu)\u00a0 — For the second time in as many games, the 6th-ranked Jimmie women’s basketball team used a strong second and third quarter performance, defeating No. 6 Morningside (Iowa) 78-74 Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The win was the 200th career victory for Jimmie head coach Greg Ulland<\/a>, and\u00a0helped Jamestown improve to 16-2. Morningside falls to 13-4 and have now lost two of their last three.<\/p>\n Jamestown outscored the Mustangs 43-33 in the middle periods to overcome a three-point first quarter deficit, and withstood\u00a0a 15-0 Morningside run\u00a0that give the Mustangs\u00a0a 26-18 lead with 7:51 in the first half.\u00a0UJ finished the second quarter by scoring 19 of the final 27 points and led 37-34 at the break.<\/p>\n McKayla Orr<\/a> (SR\/Ypsilanti, ND) scored 10 points in the third as UJ extended their lead to 61-54 entering the final period. Orr drained a three-pointer with 7:34 to play to give the Jimmies\u00a0their biggest lead of the game at 68-56.<\/p>\n Morningside went on a 9-0 run to pull within five at 68-65 with 5:17 remaining.
