FORBES, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Forbes man who was arrested after SWAT teams from Fargo and Jamestown were called out is accused of assaulting a 9-year-old girl.<\/p>\n
Dickey County Court documents show that 49-year-old Robert Miner is charged with aggravated assault. He’s accused of repeatedly kicking the girl in the legs and burning her hand by sticking in hot gravy.<\/p>\n
Authorities say no one was hurt when Miner was apprehended Tuesday, although the circumstances of the arrest are not clear.<\/p>\n
Court documents do not list an attorney for Miner. He is being jailed in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Watson, of LaMoure, faces the following charges:<\/p>\n Watson appeared in front of Southwest District Court Judge William Herauf along with his attorney, Kevin McCabe, at the Golden Valley Courthouse in Beach for the Golden Valley case.<\/p>\n After some deliberation, \u00a0Wednesday, Judge Herauf moved to recess for the day in order to make a decision about whether he would allow testimony about the alleged acts in Mississippi. The case will resume at 9 a.m. on Thursday, February, 1.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n OMAHA, Neb. (AP) \u2014 A report says a business conditions index for nine Midwest and Plains states slipped over the past month but still pointed to continuing improvement in regional economic conditions.<\/p>\n The report released Thursday says the Mid-America Business Conditions Index dropped to 57.3 in January from 59.0 in December. The November figure was 57.2.<\/p>\n Creighton University economist Ernie Goss oversees the survey, and he says manufacturing and other business sectors in the region are adding jobs at a solid pace.<\/p>\n The survey results are compiled into a collection of indexes ranging from zero to 100. Survey organizers say any score above 50 suggests growth in that factor. A score below that suggests decline.<\/p>\n The survey covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Former North Dakota Republican Party Chairman Gary Emineth says he’s running for U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n Emineth said Wednesday in an interview on WDAY-AM that he’s entering the race for the seat currently held by Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp.<\/p>\n Emineth, a Bismarck businessman, said earlier this week he began considering a run after U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer passed up a challenge to Heitkamp.<\/p>\n State Sen. Tom Campbell is the only other Republican in the race so far. Campbell has spent about $425,000 on advertising to raise his profile since August.<\/p>\n Heitkamp has raised about $6 million.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n (CSi)\u00a0 Paul Schaffner of Minot, has declared his candidacy for GOP nomination for United State Senate. \u00a0Schaffner, a former teacher and coach currently works in the oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n The news release states:<\/p>\n \u201cI am pleased and honored to announce my candidacy for the United States Senate. (AP) \u2014 Supporters of amending the North Dakota constitution to include a sweeping government ethics overhaul have turned in a proposed initiative to put the issue on the November ballot.<\/p>\n With voters’ approval, the initiative billed as an “anti-corruption amendment” would ban foreign money from elections, restrict lobbying and create an independent ethics commission, among other provisions.<\/p>\n Democratic lawmakers have been unsuccessfully pushing for years to establish an ethics commission in North Dakota. It’s one of only a handful of states without such a panel.<\/p>\n Supporters need almost 27,000 signatures by July 9 to get it on the November ballot.<\/p>\n The sponsoring committee is headed by Bismarck Republican Dina Butcher and Ellen Chaffee, a Democrat and former president of Mayville and Valley City State universities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Garrison man has been sentenced to time served and three years of probation for punching a Ward County sheriff’s deputy in the head.<\/p>\n Forty-four-year-old Archie Hopkins was accused of striking the deputy in March 2017 after the officer had taken off Hopkins’ handcuffs.<\/p>\n
