WOODWORTH, N.D. (AP-CSi) \u2014 Law officers have shot and killed a man after authorities say he fired at police during a chase in south-central North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement confirms that late Wednesday morning a pursuit conducted by the Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office led to the fatal shooting of the suspect<\/p>\n

Police Department Assistant Police Chief Major John Johnson, tells CSiNewsNow.com that the pursuit \u00a0\u00a0started in Jamestown and began when a police officer identified the suspect as driving under suspension. The pursuit was called off by Jamestown police northwest of Jamestown and continued by the Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The report says the suspect\u2019s vehicle became stuck in an area north of Medina, near Woodworth with the suspect then attempting to flee on foot, showing a weapon, and shots were fired, when a deputy and two police officers returned fire at the suspect, wounding the individual.<\/p>\n

The report from Sheriff Chad Kaiser was that the suspect who is believed to be in his mid twenties, was killed.\u00a0 His name and home town were not immediately available.<\/p>\n

He reports that no law enforcement officers were hurt.<\/p>\n

An internal and external investigation will be conducted, as is the policy concerning an officer-involved shooting.<\/p>\n

Medina Ambulance Service responded to the area where the pursuit ended.<\/p>\n

Medina Public School went into lockdown after being notified of the incident shortly before 2:30 p.m., and remained locked down for about 15 minutes until notified by the sheriff\u2019s office calling a short time later. saying any threat was removed.<\/p>\n

The investigation continues as the Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the external investigation.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi) – Wednesday morning around 11:30am, \u00a0law enforcement was engaged in a pursuit of an individual, in the rural area west of Jamestown, \u00a0last known traveling on County 40.<\/p>\n

Approximately an hour later it was reported that a shooting occurred near Medina, with one individual shot.<\/p>\n
