\"\"Valley City\u00a0 (KVRR.com\/VCPS)- \u00a0 A perceived threat to Valley City \u00a0Public Schools on social media has been reported as not being credible.<\/p>\n

The school district sent an alert to parents.<\/p>\n

School officials\u00a0are cautious but planned\u00a0\u00a0on scheduling classes, on Monday\u00a0as of Sunday night.<\/p>\n

After an investigation, the school was able to confirm that it was an old post that originated in Valley, Alabama.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Valley City Police continues with the investigation into the threat.<\/p>\n

The school district sent out a letter to parents, informing them of their findings.<\/p>\n

The news release\u00a0from Valley City Public School Superintendent Josh Johnson on February 25th, stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Saturday night our school resource officer received information that there was a social media message circulating that was perceived by some as being a threat. Information of the post was sent to the Valley City Police Department as well as school officials. The Valley City Police Department has been investigating this report.<\/p>\n

At this time we do not believe that this message is a direct reference to Valley City Public School, due to additional schools receiving similar messages and the vague content of the message. We will, however, continue to monitor and assess the situation. On Monday, we are having additional officers available in and around the schools to monitor students.<\/p>\n

At this time, we are planning on having school as scheduled\u00a0 Monday. As you know, safety is always our priority. If there is additional information that leads us to change our decision based on the police investigation, we will notify you through our communication system of email, social media and emergency calling system.<\/p>\n
