Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Buffalo Mall merchants are sponsoring their 13th annual Business Leaders Soup Spectacular Cook-off contest to raise funds for the James River Senior Center Home Delivered Meal Program. The date has been set for Saturday, March 10th, 2018 from 11:00am \u2013 1:00pm in the Buffalo Mall commons area.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Buffalo Mall, Manager, Bev Dawson said, community business leaders and service clubs will enter their favorite soup.
\nFor $5.00 the public is invited to taste the soup entries and cast their vote for
\nthe best soup in Jamestown. \u00a0\u00a0Also, an additional dollar will allow a vote on another soup choice. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Home Delivered Meal Program.<\/p>\n

James River Community Center, Office Manager, Rhonda Sahr added that in 2017 the Center\u2019s Home Delivered Meals Program made 16,623 deliveries in the city of Jamestown.<\/p>\n
She said hot meals are delivered Monday-Friday and frozen meals are available on the weekend, that are delivered on Fridays.<\/p>\n
She pointed out that volunteer drivers are always welcome, and may deliver meals one day per week, one day per month, or whatever fits their schedule.<\/p>\n
Currently drivers deliver meals on eight routes.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi) A few members of the Jamestown Shriners have decided to start a new club called EZ (El Zagal) Wheels, for those people interested in classic cars, street rods, motorcycles or anything with wheels.<\/p>\n
The first fundraising activity for EZ Wheels will be the Cornhole Bean Bag Tournament, On Saturday March 10th starting at noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall. This tournament, expected to be an annual event, is open to anyone 21 years and older.<\/p>\n
Preregister at the Corner Bar, 952-2337. The cost is $50 per two-person team.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism \u00a0Grant and Executive advisory Board has unanimously approved a $1,200 grant for \u00a0Dakota Lawn Care Spring Fling Vendor Show to help with advertising expenses. The event will be held on March 24th at the Jamestown Civic Center, the first year of the event.<\/p>\n
The business\u2019 owner John Doehler says 12 vendors \u00a0will display lawn and outdoor project items in the local area.<\/p>\n
The application states that an anticipated $500,000 in spending by visitors would bring $10,020 in taxes for the city of Jamestown.<\/p>\n
The board also approved a $5,000 grant toward the National Buffalo Museum for the \u00a0Buffalo Hall of Fame interactive kiosk project.<\/p>\n
The Museum\u2019s Director, Ilana Xinos application says the $6,903 project will move the Buffalo Hall of Fame display to another location in the museum, part of \u00a0a renovation, she said is expected to be completed in April.<\/p>\n

Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, March 2, as a mark of respect for the memory of Reverend Billy Graham.<\/p>\n
Individuals and businesses also are encouraged to fly the flags at half-staff during the same time period.<\/p>\n
The governor\u2019s directive is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump to lower flags to half-staff on March 2 for the interment of Graham.<\/p>\n

ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (AP) \u2014 Eastern Idaho officials have identified a North Dakota man killed in a snowmobile crash.<\/p>\n
The Fremont County sheriff’s office in a news release Monday says 32-year-old Wayne Halverson of Wishek died Saturday in Island Park when he went off a trail and ran into a tree.<\/p>\n
Officials say other snowmobilers and emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Halverson was pronounced dead at about 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Halverson is the fourth snowmobiler to die in eastern Idaho this year. The other three deaths were caused by avalanches.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The president of the Fargo School Board has been removed following reports of bullying and threatening comments to a board member and condescending remarks to parents.<\/p>\n
Board member Jennifer Benson tearfully told colleagues Tuesday night about Jim Johnson cornering her after a recent meeting and swearing at her. Benson says Johnson also disrespected parents who spoke up about concerns over possible school boundary changes during the same Feb. 13 meeting. Benson asked the board to follow its code of conduct policy and remove Johnson as president.<\/p>\n
KFGO<\/a> reports Johnson denied he spoke in a condescending way to anybody and says he’d say the same things again. He’ll stay on as a board member.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s Public Service Commission says utility ratepayers may see some lower bills due to reductions in federal corporate income tax rates.<\/p>\n The three-member, all-Republican panel last month ordered four public utilities to calculate savings from their federal corporate income tax rates.<\/p>\n The utilities involved are Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., Great Plains Natural Gas Co., Otter Tail Power Co. and Xcel Energy.<\/p>\n State regulators earlier approved temporary rate increases for MDU and Otter Tail. Under state law, utilities may collect temporary increases while the PSC studies their request for a rate hike.<\/p>\n MDU and Otter Tail already have submitted plans to slightly decrease their proposed rate increases. PSC members say their final action on the utilities’ calculations won’t be completed until late summer or early fall.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Fargo City Commissioners have affirmatively responded to downtown business leaders who want to relax the city’s public drinking ban.<\/p>\n Commissioners voted unanimously to direct the city attorney to draft an amendment to the drinking ordinance.<\/p>\n KFGO reports Downtown Community Partnership CEO Melissa Rademacher told commissioners a relaxed ordinance would benefit restaurants and retailers by bringing in more business.
