Update Friday afternoon….<\/p>\n

Regarding the anticipated storm… newer model runs coming in…show plenty of warm air on the east\/northeast side of the storm keeping rain\/freezing rain the main threat early on over central ND.<\/p>\n

At this time the big challenge remains where the rain\/snow line will be – this will have a large impact on expected threats (rain\/freezing rain\/snow) and snow amounts.<\/p>\n

Earlier the Weather Service said, the potential continues for a significant winter storm late this weekend into early next week.<\/p>\n

Precipitation is expected to start as light rain or freezing rain, mainly Saturday night into the day on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The rain will change over to snow Sunday night and continue into Monday before tapering off Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Some heavy snow and strong winds will create dangerous travel conditions, although exactly where and how much snow is still uncertain. Stay tuned for
\nfurther updates.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Residential recycling carts will be distributed the week of March 5th<\/sup>, with collections beginning on Monday April 2nd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Ralph Friebel of Recycling Center of North Dakota, LLC, formerly Renaissance Recycling in Jamestown, says depending on when the snow storm clean up is completed, the recycling carts plan to be distributed starting March 7th<\/sup> or 8th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Recycling material will start being collected the week of April 2nd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

He said the recycling carts will come with an information packet.<\/p>\n

That will include a welcome letter, cart maintenance, \u00a0a map showing the pick up days and dates, with the city divided so the recycling truck comes by every other week to the residence, on the garbage collection day of the week.<\/p>\n

Also included will be a calendar showing a one year recycling pick up schedule.<\/p>\n

Also included in the packet will be a magnetic list that shows what items can and cannot be recycled.<\/p>\n

He added that the recycling center will continue to have the current days and hours of operation until April 2nd<\/sup>: Tuesday and Thursday 9-a.m. to 6-p.m. and Saturday from 9-a.m., to 2-p.m.<\/p>\n

On April 2nd<\/sup> the plan is to have the recycling center open everyday, but open shorter hours.<\/p>\n

He says the recycling center\u2019s move to the former Coke plant is expected in about two months.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 In a news release, the Valley City- Barnes County Development Corporation announced that Preventive Services, of Houston, Texas says it will establish a remote heart monitoring center, in Valley City, expected to be operational by April 15 this year.<\/p>\n

The company provides diagnostic\u00a0 services to cardiologists\u00a0 at clinics and hospitals, providing real time information for better patient care.\u00a0 The company also provides customer facing services, including patient registration and insurance processing.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s President & CEO, Jon Otterstatter says the company has experience 20 percent growth annually, in recent years, adding, \u201cExpanding to Valley City along with our continued employee and facility growth in Houston and California, will provide the resources for us to better serve our increasing patient population throughout the United States.<\/p>\n

HR Director, Melanie Arnett add, the priority is hiring the Monitoring \u00a0Center Manager, who will serve as the liaison between\u00a0 North Dakota and it\u2019s other locations, adding \u201cThe ideal candidate for this position will have a medical background, preferably and RN or LPN with a bend toward cardiology.<\/p>\n

The Valley City operations will begin with 25 people, with additional hires over the next twelve months.<\/p>\n

The next opportunity is the roll out of a training program to develop candidates to be EKG Technicians.<\/p>\n

The news release says Preventice offers competitive wages and benefits to all of it\u2019s positions.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, James River Humane Society board member, Jay Nitchke said, in Jamestown, Dr. Dawn\u2019s Pet Stop will offer the discount March 12-16.<\/p>\n

The discount is $10 off neutering, and $15 off spaying.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports threaten North Dakota’s economy.Rep. Kevin Cramer, facing Heitkamp in a Senate race expected to be one of the nation’s toughest, doesn’t appear to like them either.Trump’s pledge to impose the tariffs has escalated tensions with China, Europe and other trading partners. It’s also raised concern in his own party.Heitkamp, a Democrat, says China and Europe are important markets for machinery and agriculture exports.Cramer, a Republican, says he doesn’t like tariffs in general and he worries about retaliation from U.S. trading partners. BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakotans who want to serve on the state’s Board of Higher Education can apply for two seats that are opening this summer.<\/p>\n

The governor-appointed board oversees the 11 public colleges and universities in the state. It has eight voting members and two nonvoting members who represent university system faculty and staff.<\/p>\n

The terms of Kevin Melicher of Fargo and Mike Ness of Hazen end at the close of June. Whoever is appointed to those seats will serve four-year terms beginning July 1.<\/p>\n

The application deadline is 5 p.m. on April 2. Whoever Gov. Doug Burgum chooses will be subject to confirmation by the state Senate.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A community food cooperative in Bismarck is making progress on addressing its debts.<\/p>\n

The Bisman Community Food Co-op last October owed vendors more than $236,500, with more than $42,000 of that owed to local producers.<\/p>\n

General Manager Carmen Hoffner tells The Bismarck Tribune that the co-op has been paying off up to $3,000 of its back debt each week.<\/p>\n

The co-op store was opened with the premise of giving shoppers a place to buy healthy, locally grown foods.<\/p>\n

Hoffner says the co-op has switched to a new principal vendor, and also cut back on staff and product ordering, and is now operating under budget.<\/p>\n

Vendor Mirek Petrovic says small, local vendors have been willing to wait for their money because the co-op is a great opportunity for them.<\/p>\n

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) \u2014 Police are asking for the public’s help as they search for a 19-year-old man suspected of killing two people at Central Michigan University. The shooting occurred in a residence hall Friday morning on the campus in Mount Pleasant. Police say neither victim was a student. Police released the suspect’s photo to the public. Anyone who sees him is asked not to confront him, but to call 911.<\/p>\n

(AP) \u2014 A Florida police union is calling for more transparency in the investigations into the law enforcement response to a Feb. 14 mass shooting at a high school that killed 17 people.
