Valley City (CSi)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, that on Tuesday, March 6th<\/sup>, the ND Winter Show in Valley City was hosting a pickup pull event in the main arena at the ND Winter Show building.\u00a0 At approximately 9:15 pm, a 2004 Dodge pickup was pulling the skid vehicle, a 1994 Peterbilt, in the event.\u00a0 The Dodge was making a pass and traveling from west to east across the main arena.\u00a0 At the east end of the main arena, the Dodge struck a large tire that was a buffer between the main arena and a wall separating the main arena from the east concourse.\u00a0 After striking the large tire, the tire and the Dodge went through the wall onto the east concourse.<\/p>\n

Two pedestrians on the concourse were struck, a 15 year old female and a 33 year old female. The 15 year old female was transported by Barnes County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital where she was treated and released.\u00a0 The 33 year old female refused treatment on scene.<\/p>\n

The driver of the 2004 Dodge was 19 year old Nathan Bell, of Gardner, ND.\u00a0 The driver of the skid vehicle was 23 year old,Hunter Henjum, of Valley City,.<\/p>\n

The Barnes County SO, Valley City PD, Valley City FD and Barnes County Ambulance all responded to assist.<\/p>\n

(KVLY)\u00a0 On their way to the N-A-I-A division two women\u2019s national tournament, the VSSCU Women’s basketball team\u2019s bus left an icy \u00a0I-29 near Watertown, South Dakota on Monday.<\/p>\n

The driver attempted avoid hitting a sign, and moments later the bus went off the road.<\/p>\n

The bus crashed through a fence before stopping above a slushy creek.<\/p>\n

21 people were on the bus, including players and coaches, and staff.<\/p>\n

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says there were no injuries.<\/p>\n

Watertown Search and Rescue picked them up taking them another bus.<\/p>\n

Though players were shaken, they said the best way to put what happened behind them is by winning the NAIA national championship.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Police Department is asking residents to check vehicles this morning.<\/p>\n

Lt. Justin Blinsky, says vehicles were entered overnight Tuesday, leading to the arrest of \u00a029 year old Jared Fritz of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

He was arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and theft from a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

Blinsky said they suspect Fritz of going through up to five cars in southeast Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Police are asking residents to call the LEC dispatch at 701-252-1000 if their vehicle was broken into.<\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi 3-6-18) Jamestown Police is warning residents that a convicted sex offender is has changed his Jamestown residence.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Police reports that 24 year old Sawyer Suko now resides at 1530 6th Ave. SW No. 24 Buffalo Motel, Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n

He is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n

He presently has no vehicle.<\/p>\n

He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota high risk level committee, of the Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Suko has been convicted of Gross Sexual Imposition, involving a 13 year old girl, when both Suko and the female were intoxicated at a campsite, when Suko was 18 years of age. The conviction date was January 6, 2012, in Stutsman County, District Court.<\/p>\n

Disposition: One year and one day\u2026with 285 days suspended, and under supervised probation\u2026currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation, and is on GPS Monitoring.<\/p>\n

Suko is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n

Any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders, their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The James River Valley Library System has applied for \u00a0Jamestown Tourism Visitor\u2019s Promotion Capital Construction Funds for the Louis L\u2019Amour Project.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund said a part of the project is to have the Alfred Dickey Public Library in Jamestown hosting displays, of memorabilia and other items of Louis L\u2019Amour.<\/p>\n

Searle pointed out that the project will focus on L\u2019Amour\u2019s Jamestown roots, starting as a child, and through his formative years, that helped shape his successful writing career.<\/p>\n

The project will show what L\u2019Amour did while living in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Anyone with ideas of photos or stories may call the Alfred Dickey Public Library in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Searle pointed out others applying for the funds include:\u00a0 Fort Seward for funds going toward a video, Frontier Village planning restoration of the Midland Continental Railroad caboose at Frontier Village, and the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse with continued restoration.<\/p>\n

Applications to receive the Capital Construction funds are accepted twice a year for review, March 1st<\/sup>, and October 1st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) \u2014 Poor road conditions in the Dakotas after a winter storm have led to a fatality.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 35-year-old Fargo man driving a pickup rear-ended a snowplow on an icy Interstate 29 in Grand Forks County on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

WALCOTT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 No birds were lost when fire destroyed a barn on a Richland County turkey farm.County Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht says the barn that burned at Lelm Farms east off Walcott on Tuesday morning was empty, and officials were able to restore electricity to two other barns that each housed 15,000 turkeys.There was no immediate word on the cause of the blaze.\u00a0<\/article>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Fargo man has been charged with murder in the death of a man at the suspect’s north side apartment.<\/p>\n

Authorities say 29-year-old Daniel Habiger is charged in the killing of 32 year-old Jarryd Heis of Fargo. If convicted, Habiger faces life in prison without parole.<\/p>\n

Police say Habiger called dispatchers from a convenience store shortly before 6:30 a.m. Friday and reported that he had been involved in a fight at his apartment.<\/p>\n

Officers found the body of Heis in Habiger’s apartment. No other details have been released.<\/p>\n

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 5.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The Plains farm aid nonprofit Farm Rescue is accepting applications for spring crop-planting assistance. Farm Rescue provides free physical labor for farmers and ranchers dealing with an injury, illness or a natural disaster. It was launched in North Dakota in 2006 and has since expanded to South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Montana and Nebraska. Its services include crop planting and harvesting, haying, and hay and grain hauling. It has helped more than 525 farm families through the years.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 U.S. Sen. John Hoeven says President Donald Trump has nominated the leader of North Dakota’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation to be the next U.S. marshal for the District of North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Dallas Carlson has worked in law enforcement for more than 35 years, including 29 years at BCI. He’s been the agency’s director since 2011. He has a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson State University, and has trained at the North Dakota Law Enforcement Training Academy and the FBI National Academy.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Senate still needs to confirm Carlson’s appointment.<\/p>\n

U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says Carlson’s nomination is “well-deserved recognition of his outstanding career.”<\/p>\n

Duties of the U.S. marshal include protecting the federal judiciary, apprehending federal fugitives, managing seized assets, housing and transporting federal prisoners and operating the Witness Security Program.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota state officials say a broken valve on a storage tank caused nearly 17,000 gallons of oil to spill at a well last month.<\/p>\n

State Oil and Gas Division officials say they were notified about the spill on Feb. 21. It occurred at the well about four miles north of Flaxton, near the Canadian border.<\/p>\n

Officials say all of the fluid and most of the impacted soil has been removed. The cleanup will continue this spring when a new layer of topsoil can be placed at the site.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A group seeking to raise North Dakota’s minimum wage to $15 is hoping to bring the proposal to voters in November.<\/p>\n

Secretary of State Al Jaeger says he received a draft petition on Monday and is reviewing it. If it’s approved, supporters would need to gather and submit at least 13,452 valid signatures to get a proposed measure on the ballot.<\/p>\n

Scott Nodland of Bismarck is chairman of the petition’s sponsoring committee. He tells the Bismarck Tribune that people are living at poverty level if they are paid the state’s $7.25 minimum wage.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The state of North Dakota wants a judge to dismiss a lawsuit that challenges a new law intended to clarify disputed ownership of minerals under a Missouri River reservoir.<\/p>\n

State Democratic Rep. Marvin Nelson and others filed the lawsuit in January. They say the law is unconstitutional and a giveaway of state resources under Lake Sakakawea.<\/p>\n

Gov. Doug Burgum signed the measure last year limiting state mineral claims under the lake to a smaller area than the state had claimed.<\/p>\n

The Bismarck Tribune reports attorneys for the state argue the case should be dismissed because it does not name all parties with a stake in oil and gas minerals that would be affected by the lawsuit.<\/p>\n

A hearing is scheduled on March 27 in East Central District Court in Fargo.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Houston Rockets are two away from matching the longest winning streak in team history.<\/p>\n

Chris Paul scored 25 points and the Rockets picked up their 16th consecutive victory by downing the Thunder, 122-112. James Harden had 23 points and 11 assists for Houston, which improved to an NBA-best 50-13.<\/p>\n

The outcome keeps the Rockets atop the entire league by a half-game over Golden State.<\/p>\n

Russell Westbrook scored 32 points and Carmelo Anthony added 23 for Oklahoma City, which is in a logjam of teams trying to fight their way into third place in the West.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Warriors are 6-0 since the All-Star break after Stephen (STEH’-fehn) Curry drained six 3-pointers while scoring 34 points in a 114-101 downing of Brooklyn. The Raptors are two games ahead of the Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Damian Lillard nailed eight 3-pointers and delivered 37 points as the Trail Blazers cruised to their eighth consecutive win, 111-87 over the Knicks. \u2014 The Pelicans have a nine-game winning streak after Anthony Davis hit for 41 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 121-116 decision over the Clippers. \u2014 The Wizards pulled out a 117-113 overtime win against the Heat behind Bradley Beal’s 30 points on 12 of 16 shooting. UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Cavaliers All-Star Kevin Love has opened up about his panic attack this season and his struggles with mental health.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old forward has written an essay for the Players’ Tribune that says he was overcome by anxiety during a Nov. 5 home game against Atlanta. He was briefly hospitalized at the Cleveland Clinic and the episode left him shaken.<\/p>\n

Love is currently sidelined with a broken left hand. He says he drew courage after Toronto All-Star DeMar DeRozan disclosed he has dealt with depression.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has been fined $15,000 for public criticism of officiating following Saturday’s loss at Houston. Smart said Rockets guard James Harden is among those who receive favorable treatment from referees. UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Gonzaga is going back to the NCAA Tournament after winning the West Coast Conference tourney for the sixth consecutive year.<\/p>\n

Killian Tillie scored 22 points and the sixth-ranked Bulldogs improved to 30-4 by whipping BYU, 74-54. Zach Norvell Jr. provided 17 points for the Zags, who reeled off a 36-6 run bridging the two halves.<\/p>\n

A few more men’s basketball teams have earned automatic berths in the NCAA Tournament:<\/p>\n

\u2014 Grant Benzinger had 19 points and nine rebounds as Wright State beat Cleveland State 74-57 to win the Horizon League Tournament. Kenny Carpenter had 18 points and Tyree Appleby scored 15 for the Raiders. Wright State will play in college basketball’s showcase for the third time in school history and the first since 2007.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Joe Chealey had 32 points and the College of Charleston rallied from 17 down in the second half of an 83-76 comeback win against Northeastern in the Colonial Athletic Association final. The Cougars trailed 42-25 with 17:27 left in the second half and didn’t take control until they hit their first four shots of OT to go ahead 75-69.<\/p>\n

\u2014 LIU Brooklyn has reached the NCAA Tourney for the first time in five years after Joel Hernandez delivered 32 points and seven rebounds in a 71-61 victory against Wagner in the Northeast Conference title game. Raiquan Clark had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Blackbirds.<\/p>\n

\u2014 David Jenkins dropped in 29 points and Mike Daum added 25 with 11 rebounds in leading South Dakota State’s 97-87 win over South Dakota in the Summit League Tournament championship. The Jackrabbits also got 18 points and 11 boards from Reed Tellinghuisen in capturing their third straight NCAA Tournament berth.<\/p>\n

NFL-FRANCHISE TAGS<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is among five NFL players who have received the franchise take before today’s deadline.<\/p>\n

Others getting the tag were Miami wide receiver Jarvis Landry, Detroit defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, and Los Angeles Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner.<\/p>\n

Bell is the only one to receive the exclusive tag, meaning he can’t negotiate with other teams. Both sides plan to continue negotiating a long-term contract, but the tag currently means Bell will receive the average of the top five salaries among running backs for 2018.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Panthers have reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension with Pro Bowl kicker Graham Gano (guh-NOH’). A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press the deal is worth $17 million overall with $9 million guaranteed. The 30-year-old is coming off his best NFL season, converting all 29 field goals from inside of 50 yards and 29 of 30 overall, and made 34 of 37 extra points.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Running back Chris Ivory has agreed to sign a two-year contract with the Bills, where the eight-year veteran will have an opportunity to serve as LeSean McCoy’s primary backup. Ivory finished with just 382 yards rushing and a touchdown last season and was inactive for four of the Jaguars’ final five games.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The NFL’s salary cap will be $177.2 million, more than $10 million above last season. Teams must be below that figure when the league season begins on March 14.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross says he won’t force his players to stand for the national anthem, even though he believes kneeling is an ineffective way to promote social justice. Ross’ comments Tuesday in a statement released by the Dolphins came after the New York Daily News reported he said all of the team’s players will stand for the anthem in 2018.<\/p>\n

Brad Marchand completed a hat trick by scoring 34 seconds into overtime to give the Bruins a 6-5 win over the Red Wings. Marchand finished with five points, including a pair of second-period goals and two assists in the first.<\/p>\n

Detroit rallied after Jason Krug and Jake DeBrusk scored in the opening minute, but Boston eventually won its fourth in a row to stay six points behind the Lightning.<\/p>\n

Boeser fell into an open gate at the players’ bench after trying to make a hit on Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck during Monday’s 4-3 win over New York. The star rookie left Rogers Arena on a stretcher and was taken to a hospital after the collision.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Kansas City Royals have worked out a one-year, $3 million deal with outfielder Jon Jay, a contact that allows him to earn an additional $1.5 million in performance bonuses. Jay made $8 million last season while hitting .296 with two home runs and 34 RBIs in 141 games for the Chicago Cubs last season, including a .350 average in 40 at-bats as a pinch-hitter. Jay did not commit an error in 141 chances last season and will turn 33 before opening day.<\/p>\n
