News) Jamestown Public Schools Announces School WILL be in session on Monday, April 1, 2013 due to having a storm day on March 4<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Public School Board will be meeting with AdvancED Review Board on Monday, March 11, 2013 in the Thompson Room located in the Middle School at 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Public School Board will have a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in the Thompson Room located in the Middle School to review the report with the AdvanceED Review Board at 4:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; Buffalo Mall Merchants are sponsoring their 8<sup>th<\/sup> annual Business Leaders Chili Cook-Off Contest to raise funds for the James River Senior Citizens\u2019 Meals on Wheels Program.<\/p>\n<p>The date has been set for Saturday, March 9<sup>th<\/sup>, 2013 from 11:00am-2:00pm in the Buffalo Mall commons area.<\/p>\n<p>For $5.00 the public is invited to taste the chili entries and cast their vote for the best chili in Jamestown, along with an award for the Most Votes. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Meals on Wheels Program. A wristband will be given to the chili samplers.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with the chili cook-off, RSVP+ will host a benefit bake sale for the Meals on Wheels Program as well.<\/p>\n<p>Business leaders include local bank presidents, realty companies, service clubs, as well as utility &amp; engineering companies.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday\u2019s (Mar 5, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the Buffalo Mall\u2019s, Tim Perkins said, the Chili Cookoff will be in the mall\u2019s commons areas, with entertainment provided by local entertainers, R&amp;C School of Rock.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out, to reserve a booth to call him at the Buffalo Mall at 251-2237.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s winner of the People\u2019s Choice Award was the Jamestown Sun, and the Best Chili went to Classic Catering.<\/p>\n<p>Also on our show on Tuesday, James River Community\/Senior Center\u2019s Rhonda Sahr said, in 2012 Center One provided over 32,000 home delivered meals in Stutsman, Wells, and Sheridan Counties, with over 27,000 meals delivered in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>The Meals on Wheels Coordinator at Center One, Rick Dockter thanks volunteers who bring out meals in all types of weather, year \u2018round, as about 85-100 meals are delivered daily.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers to delivered the meals are always welcome, as there are 8-14 people on each route starting at 11-a.m., Monday through Friday, with six local Jamestown routes.<\/p>\n<p>Time required for the Jamestown route is about one hour each day.<\/p>\n<p>Call the James River Community\/Senior Center for more information at 252-2882, Rick\u2019s extension is 13.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Mar 2, 2013) &#8212; The Jamestown Kiwanis Club and Kids Against Hunger, thank everyone who came out to help package meals on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Buffalo Mall.<\/p>\n<p>Kiwanis officials said the event went better than they could have imagined.<\/p>\n<p>400 volunteers package 140,000 meal bags, consisting of white rice, crushed soy, dehydrated nix vegetables blend, and a vitamin and mineral powder blend.<\/p>\n<p>It said the community came together with a common cause &#8211; to help feed starving children and to save lives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Winter Show is beginning its annual run in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>The state&#8217;s longest-running agricultural show is in its 76th year. (AP) &#8211; Fargo officials say they have more than enough sandbags in reserve to handle flooding if the current National Weather Service predictions hold up.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A flood outlook released last month by the weather service says the Red River at Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., has a 70 percent of topping 30 feet and a 5 percent chance of cresting near 38 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo officials say about 101,000 sandbags would be needed to hold back the water if it approaches 38 feet. The city currently has 750,000 filled sandbags left over from the 2011 flood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mike Lukes, spokesman for the weather service in Grand Forks, says this week&#8217;s snow storm will likely bump up the risk of flooding in the Red River Valley. He was not specific.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A negligent homicide charge has been filed against a man accused in a hit-and-run death in Dickinson late last year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-seven-year-old Timothy Menges was arrested Monday in the Nov. 21 death of 47-year-old Tracy Freer. Police say Freer was struck by a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Queen City Motel.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Kylan Klauzer says tips led police to Menges. Klauzer says Menges is from the Missouri area, though court documents indicate he has been in Dickinson for at least the past year.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Court documents do not list an attorney for Menges. He was due to make his initial court appearance Wednesday. The felony charge against him carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A Bismarck woman accused of allowing her 15-year-old daughter to drink alcohol to the point of passing out has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and been sentenced to probation.<\/p>\n<p>33-year-old Janelle Guy pleaded guilty to contributing to the deprivation of minors, and authorities dropped a felony child abuse or neglect charge. Guy was given credit for 27 days served in jail and ordered to pay $350 in court fees.<\/p>\n<p>Guy was accused of allowing several teenagers to drink in her apartment last October. She stood trial last month but a jury failed to reach a verdict and the judge declared a mistrial.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0MANDAN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A New Salem man accused of mistreating horses and donkeys has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty charges in Morton County. William Kiefer entered his pleas yesterday to five counts through his attorney. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A second man charged in an alleged human trafficking case in Grand Forks is heading to trial. Twenty-seven-year-old Joshua Harry earlier took a plea deal offered by prosecutors and pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution in the case that authorities say involved the pimping of a 17-year-old girl.\u00a0 Harry now wants to stand trial on a more serious charge of human trafficking, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Officials on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in western North Dakota say potentially radioactive filters used by the oil industry are being illegally dumped in fields and garbage containers and along roads.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They say the filters that look like small nets might attract children and endanger their health.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The filters are used to screen fluids at oil wells. Three Affiliated Tribes environmental official Edmund Baker says they&#8217;re being found particularly in the Mandaree area.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Baker plans to travel to communities throughout the reservation to alert residents to the danger.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota lawmakers are slated to return to the Capitol today to kick off the second half of the 2013 Legislature.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Members of the House and Senate finished voting on bills in their respective chambers last week and took a five-day break. The intermission is called &#8220;crossover.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the Legislature&#8217;s second half, the Senate holds hearings and votes on bills that were first introduced in the House, and the House does the same for Senate measures.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 At the halfway point, 341 of the 511 House bills that passed and now go the Senate. In the Senate, 405 bills were introduced and 293 passed and will move on to the House.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Legislators were paid during their vacation. (AP) &#8211; Several men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s college basketball teams from the Dakotas are playing in the NAIA Division II tournaments this week.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s teams from Valley City State and Jamestown College made the national tournament. The Dakota State men&#8217;s team also made it, along with the Mayville State women. It&#8217;s the first national tournament appearance for the Mayville State program.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The women&#8217;s tournament is in Sioux City, Iowa.
