Loverna Metzger was born August 15, 1930, in Medina, ND, the daughter of Adam and Sophie (Bitz) Metzger.\u00a0 She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948, and then worked for Easter Seals for a year and at Bagen Realty.\u00a0 Loverna also was a waitress at Gladstone Hotel, and later was a stenographer.\u00a0 She and Fred Hofmann were united in marriage on November 5, 1950 at First Baptist Church, Jamestown.\u00a0 They made their home on a farm northeast of Medina.\u00a0 Fred passed away on May 23, 2012.<\/p>\n
Loverna was a member of Sunshine Homemakers, Stutsman County Dairy Women, Stutsman County Republican Women, and Women\u2019s Ministries of Medina Assembly of God.\u00a0 She was a member of Medina Assembly of God and served as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer, church treasurer, and Women\u2019s Ministries secretary and treasurer.<\/p>\n
She enjoyed reading, embroidering, putting puzzles together, and listening to Gospel music.<\/p>\n
Loverna is survived by her five children, Karen Small, Tuba City, AZ, Kathryn (Kendall) Jones, West Fargo, ND, Kenneth (Joyce) Hofmann, Aberdeen, SD, Karolyn (Don) Farquhar, Sutherland, IA, and Keith (Julie) Hofmann, Medina, ND; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Elroy) Enzminger, Bismarck, ND; and sister-in-law, Clara Metzger.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Elroy Metzger and two brothers, Reuben and Norman, in infancy; and a sister, Gladys, in infancy.<\/p>\n
