The brackets for the 2018 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Postseason Softball Tournament are set for May 4-7, 2018. Presentation (S.D.) will be this year\u2019s conference tournament host site. The tournament takes place at the Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen, S.D. on Field A and D (located on Brown County Highway 19).<\/p>\n
Top eight seeds advance to the NSAA Softball Postseason Conference Tournament, which feature two brackets with four teams each\u2014Gold Bracket and Navy Bracket\u2014using a double-elimination within each bracket. The seeding is based on the regular-season North Star conference record (winning percentage).<\/p>\n
Jamestown (N.D.) (39-6 overall record, 22-3 NSAA conference record), 2017 North Star Softball Tournament defending champion, will be the top overall seed for the conference postseason tournament. The Jimmies will be placed in Gold Bracket section of the tournament, along with No. 4 seed Bellevue (Neb.) (31-21 overall record, 13-11 NSAA), No. 5 seed Dakota State (S.D.) (19-28 overall record, 13-15 NSAA) and No. 8 seed Mayville State (N.D.) (12-27 overall record, 8-18 NSAA).<\/p>\n
The NSAA conference tournament kicks off with UJ taking on MSU on Friday morning at 10 a.m. on Field A, followed by the BU taking on DaSU at 12 p.m. The double-elimination continues with a loser\u2019s out game on Friday at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
Friday\u2019s winners will advance to the next round on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. on Field A. The loser of that game and the winner of Friday\u2019s loser out game will square off in an elimination game of the Gold Bracket on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Field D.<\/p>\n
The Gold Bracket championship game is set for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on Field D, vying for a berth in the NSAA Conference Championship game. If the team with no loss in the Gold Bracket loses that game, an \u2018if necessary\u2019 game will be played on Sunday at 12 p.m.<\/p>\n
Valley City State (N.D.) (37-10 overall record, 20-5 NSAA) is the No. 2 seed and will play in the Navy Bracket along with No. 3 seed Dickinson State (N.D.) (23-17 overall record, 14-9 NSAA), No. 6 seed Waldorf (Iowa) (10-31 overall record, 9-17 NSAA) and No. 7 seed Presentation (S.D.) (17-28 overall record, 8-16 NSAA).<\/p>\n
The Vikings kick off the Navy Bracket versus the Saints at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Blue Hawks taking on the Warriors at 12:30 p.m. The double-elimination tournament continues with a loser\u2019s out game at 2:30 p.m. Friday\u2019s Navy Bracket games will be played on Field D.<\/p>\n
Friday\u2019s winners advance to the winner\u2019s bracket on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Field D. The loser of that game will play in an elimination game on Field A on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the bracket\u2019s championship game versus the undefeated team in the Navy Bracket.<\/p>\n
The final two remaining teams in Navy will compete for the NSAA championship berth on Saturday at 4 p.m. on Field A. If undefeated team in the Navy Bracket loses that game, an \u2018if necessary\u2019 game is set for Sunday at 12 p.m. on Field A.<\/p>\n
Gold Bracket and Navy Bracket winners will meet in the NSAA Championship Game on Field D, featuring a best-of-three series format. Depending on the outcome of each bracket, the first championship game is set for either 12 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The second game of the best-of-three series is slated for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. or Monday at 11 a.m. The third and \u2018if necessary\u2019 game is set for Monday at 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The tournament champion receives the NSAA\u2019s automatic berth to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, which will be played on May 14-16 at ten different campus announced by the NAIA.<\/p>\n
