Madison, SD\u00a0\u00a0 \u2013 \u00a0(PlayNorthStar.com)- Valley City State University track and field athletes\u00a0Mackenzie Huber\u00a0and\u00a0Lenzel Koskela\u00a0have been selected as North Star Athletic Association Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Huber, a sophomore from Clark, S.D., was named the Women\u2019s Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new school record and qualifying for nationals in the discus. Koskela was named Men\u2019s Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this year after running a season-best time in the 400-meter dash.<\/p>\n
North Star Athletic Association Men\u2019s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Lenzel Koskela\u00a0\u2013 Valley City State (N.D.) \u2013 Senior \u2013 Plymouth, Minn.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Koskela was the top NAIA finisher in the 400-meter dash as he ran a season-best time of 49.91 seconds at Ron Masanz Classic meet for Valley City State (N.D.). That ties him for the top time in the NSAA this season. \nMackenzie Huber\u00a0\u2013 Valley City State (N.D.) \u2013 Sophomore \u2013 Clark, S.D.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Huber set a new school record in the discus throw with her national qualifying throw of 42.73 meters (140 feet, 2 inches) at the Cobber Twilight meet for Valley City State (N.D.).\u00a0 It is also the top throw in the North Star conference by more than a meter.\u00a0 She doubled up with a victory in the shot put at the same meet, tossing a measurement of 12.61 meters (41 feet, 4.5 inches).\u00a0 Huber also placed fourth in both discus throw and shot put at the Ron Masanz Classic meet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
