News Mar 13, 2013) &#8212; Jamestown Public Schools has been recommended for reaccreditation.<\/p>\n<p>Global agency, AdvanceEd made the announcement following an extensive three day examination of the school district.<\/p>\n<p>The re-accreditation comes in the middle of a five-year process review process. The next time the district is up for accreditation will be in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>30 administrators and teachers and five public school board members were on hand for the announcement at the middle school&#8217;s Thompson Room, Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The accreditation agency, works with more than 30,000 schools in 70 nations, including all Department of Defense schools, encompassing 15 million students and 3 million teachers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports a car semi accident Wednesday (Mar 13, 2013) about 12:30 p.m., on Highway 52 at Buchanan, injured two individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The report says, a car operated by 24 year old Brittany Nelson, of Camden, South Carolina and a semi pulling an enclosed semi trailer driven by 27 year old Amelia Vanniekerk of Jamestown were both southbound.<\/p>\n<p>Where the area transitions from two to four lanes, the car changed from the right lane to the left lane and struck the truck.<\/p>\n<p>The car spun out of control and continued to strike the left side of the truck and trailer, until the car entered the east ditch and came to rest.<\/p>\n<p>Injuries to the occupants of the car Brittany Nelson and four year old Emma Nelson were reported as minimal, and were taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center by Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n<p>All involved were wearing seatbelts.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Patrol also reports, that no injuries were reported at the Highway 52 bypass intersection a half mile north of Jamestown about 8:40-a.m., Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The report says, a Freightliner pulling an enclosed semi trailer operated by 64 year old Mirjana Rorbek of Maple Ridge, B.C. was stopped at a stop sign facing eastbound at the interchange.<\/p>\n<p>A car driven by 34 year old Anne Keffeler of Buchanan was southbound on Highway 52 traveling about 50 mph.<\/p>\n<p>The truck failed to yield at the intersection and pulled out in front of the southbound car, to continue north. The truck driver said sunrise was a factor.<\/p>\n<p>The car slid into the truck\u2019s trailer causing substantial damage to the windshield area of the car.<\/p>\n<p>The accident remains under investigation by the NDHP.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Mar 13, 2013) &#8212; The Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office reports an accident between a pickup and school bus Wednesday morning about 9:30 on I-94 near Eckelson led to an injury.<\/p>\n<p>The injured person was taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>No children were reportedly on the bus at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Wednesday morning a van rollover occurred on I- 94 near Sanborn, and a pickup rollover, also near the Eckelson exit. With a total of five accidents reported at the Barnes County Dispatch Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Mar 13, 2013) &#8212; The Jamestown Police Department wants to warn Jamestown residents of a convicted sex offender who is working in the City of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>53 year old Eric David Lacey is a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall weighing 280 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n<p>He is currently residing at the Stutsman County jail, and has no vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Lacey has been assinged a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee, Office of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n<p>He was convicted on April 9, 2009 in federal court, in California, on a North Dakota federal warrant, for possession of child pornography.<\/p>\n<p>Disposition: 60 months supervised probation.<\/p>\n<p>On November 18, 2008 Lacey was convicted in Federal Court in North Dakota of possession of material-sex exploitation of minors, after a search of his Bismarck residence.<\/p>\n<p>FBI agents found DVD movies depicting child pornography.<\/p>\n<p>Disposition: 60 months supervised probation.<\/p>\n<p>Lacey is not wanted by police at this time and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts to harass, intimidate, or threaten these offenders or their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Printed handouts of Lacey\u2019s photo and demographics are available at the Jamestown Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>More information on registered offenders is available on the North Dakota Attorney General\u2019s web site:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sexoffender.ned.gov\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>www.sexoffender.ned.gov<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown City Council met in Special Session, and then recessed into closed Executive Session on Wednesday morning, (Mar 13, 2013) at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the session was to consult with the City Attorney concerning territorial service claims made by Stutsman Rural Water District.<\/p>\n<p>At issue is whether the City of Jamestown, or Stutsman Rural Water District is to serve the area west of Jamestown, in this case, specifically the Titan Machinery building, under construction, across from Jamestown Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Attending the Executive Session were: Mayor Andersen, City Council Members Kourajian, and Brubakken\u2026.City Administrator Jeff Fuchs, Assistant City Attorney Mary Jensen, City Attorney Ken Dalsted on the phone, along with legal counsel Tammy Norgaard, from the Vogel Law Office in Fargo, also on the phone, and City Engineer Reed Schwartzkopf, along with City Fire Chief Jim Reuther.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Following the closed Executive Session, the City Council reconvened into the open Special Session.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Andersen said there was no action to be taken by the City Council and the meeting was adjourned.<\/p>\n<p>The open portion of the meeting was shown live on CSi 67.<\/p>\n<p>Under a previous Resolution, the City Council, on March 6, 2013, tabled consideration of awarding bids for the water and sewer district that would service the Titan Machinery building under construction across from Jamestown Regional Medical Center, which needs to be awarded by March 30<sup>th<\/sup> this year, or re-bid.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the continued impasse, construction on the Titan building has restarted.<\/p>\n<p>C.I. Construction, President and project manager for the Titan Machinery project, Robert Thompson says, construction workers have installed a water line from the building to the east edge of the property, allowing continued construction of the building and space around the structure.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson adds the plan is to finish the building and have either the City of Jamestown or Stutsman Rural Water connect to its line after a decision is reached, as to which entity will provide Titan with water.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The 35<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Runnin\u2019 O\u2019 The Green will be taking off on Saturday March 16, 2013, from the hill by Frontier Fort.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds go to the Elks Camp Grassik, and local cancer patients.<\/p>\n<p>Registration the day of starts at the Frontier Fort at 10a.m.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday\u2019s (Mar 13, 2013) Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Larry Knoblich said the 2012 had an all time high number of registrants, at 2,300.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that there is no requirement to consume alcoholic beverages to be a part of the run.<\/p>\n<p>Last year a total of $7,600 was given to cancer patients, and $25,000 in cash or in-kind donations went to the Elks Camp Grassik.<\/p>\n<p>Each registrant pays a fee of $10, which goes to benefit the Elks Camp Grassick, and area cancer patients.<\/p>\n<p>All participants must be at least 21 years of age, and no alcoholic beverages are allowed outside of any establishment.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are asked to walk on streets and sidewalks, and not on private property.<\/p>\n<p>Dispose of litter in the Dumpsters placed along the route.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>In 2012 a number of individuals were cited by police for such offenses as DUI, open container of alcohol, minor in possession, assault and urinating in public.<\/p>\n<p>The event will have six &#8220;heats&#8221; of 400 each, starting at 2-p.m., and then every ten minutes until all runners have left.<\/p>\n<p>Runners will have their cards checked at the participating pubs, along the route\u2026The Buff Bar, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, Wonder bar, Corner Bar the Office Bar, and the All Vets Club, finishing at Shady\u2019s at the Gladstone Inn &amp; Suites.<\/p>\n<p>Those establishments with outside fenced in areas, are the only locations that alcoholic beverages will be allowed outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>Again this year rides will be given to the start area, with the designated drivers operating on tips only, and any money given to them will be given to Relay for Life, or other charities.<\/p>\n<p>Again this year Iverson Construction will be the official drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Only persons with the CALL A DESIGNATED DRIVER FOUR COLOR CARD IN THE VEHICLE WINDOWS ARE THE OFFICIAL DRIVERS.<\/p>\n<p>Those phone numbers are 701-658-0087, or 701-320-3751.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown City Council has approved street closings, and vendor policies for the 2013 Runnin &#8216;O The green on March 16th, in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>At last report the Council approved a Resolution to approve the (10) requests for street closings and\/or permits to allow alcoholic beverages in fenced areas for the March 16, 2013, St. Patrick\u2019s Day Run, for the following: Buffalo Lanes, Inc.; Buffalo City Rotisserie Grill; Corner Bar; Cork and Barrel, Inc.(Elk\u2019s location); Frontier Fort &amp; Grill; Knights of Columbus; Office Bar &amp; Lounge; Shady\u2019s; Vets Club; and Wonder Bar Sports Bar.<\/p>\n<p>Also approved is a Resolution to approve the following policy relative to street vendors<\/p>\n<p>during the St. Patrick\u2019s Day Run:<\/p>\n<p>1) Closing of 2nd Street SE in the 100 Block for vendors;<\/p>\n<p>2) Allowing vendors to apply for a permit to locate on Second Street SE in the 100 Block, based on permit applications being submitted and processed, and city staff assigning them to a specific space based on the order of submitted applications;<\/p>\n<p>3) That the City Council require a vendor permit fee of $50 for each vendor on 2nd Street SE in the 100 Block to cover the cost of closing the street and providing waste containers for the refuse.<\/p>\n<p>4) That all vendors participating in the St Patrick\u2019s Day activities only be allowed to park adjacent to curbs in order to maintain a fire lane down the center of the street;<\/p>\n<p>5) Any bar which has been approved for the closure of a street will be allowed to have a vendor(s) in their authorized closed area without the payment of the $50 City vendor fee.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission says 8,000 more passengers boarded airlines in the state than during the previous February<\/p>\n<p>Williston led the way with a boarding increase of 138 percent, but Minot, Bismarck, Grand Forks and Fargo also had their best Februarys on record.<\/p>\n<p>Statewide, boardings climbed by more than 10 percent to 93,679 in February.<\/p>\n<p>Boardings at Jamestown Regional Airport in February 2013 were 184, compared to 797 in February of 2012. The lowest number sine 149 passengers boarded in Jamestown in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Commission director Larry Taborsky says statewide, airlines have been responding to increased demand by increasing the number of flights and available seats.<\/p>\n<p>Taborsky says that if North Dakota airports had additional capacity, the numbers would be even higher.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>From Jamestown City Fire Chief, Jim Reuther<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2014 The Jamestown Fire Department is hosting a &#8220;Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Presentation&#8221; on March 26th, 2013 at the main fire station at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says &#8220;The fire department over the past few years has found it hard to recruit new volunteer firefighters; we are not the only fire department that is experiencing the decrease in volunteer firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of reasons why I believe it\u2019s been so difficult to recruit new firefighters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is a big commitment for the firefighter<\/p>\n<p>Family commitments<\/p>\n<p>Training has increased tremendously; this is mostly due to the fact of keeping the firefighter safe.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Reuther goes on to say, &#8220;At this time, our department roster is (4) firefighters short of the full roster of (38). (AP) &#8211; Fire and health officials are investigating a blaze at an industrial building in the western North Dakota oil patch.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0 Steve&#8217;s Spray Foam about a mile southeast of Watford City caught fire Tuesday morning, sending multi-colored smoke into the air.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Some nearby homes and a crew camp were evacuated as a precaution. McKenzie County Emergency Manager Jerry Samuelson says residents were allowed back in a few hours and no injuries were reported.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The company provides insulation for tanks used in the oil fields. Samuelson says company officials told authorities there were no toxic chemicals on site.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Trial has been scheduled next month for a Dickinson insurance agent accused of stealing $30,000 from a client.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assistant Attorney General Jon Byers says Scott Biggs has rejected a proposed plea agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Zane Anderson set trial for April 3-5.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Biggs has pleaded not guilty to five felony theft of property charges. He could face 45 years in prison if convicted.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 State Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm has ordered Biggs to stop doing business in North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction and sentence of a North Dakota woman convicted of embezzling from the Spirit Lake Tribe.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Patricia Robertson was convicted in October 2011 on theft and embezzlement charges. She was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay back nearly $5,500.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Robertson argued in her appeal that the conviction should be overturned because of errors during jury instructions, and the sentence was not valid because of a special condition prohibiting her from consuming alcohol.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied both claims in a ruling released earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A former stockbroker in Grand Forks and Grafton who scammed six clients out of about $1.9 million has been sentenced to two years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Laurie Fontaine also ordered 59-year-old Ross Haugen to pay back the money and to serve nine years of supervised probation after his prison term.<\/p>\n<p>Haugen pleaded guilty to seven felony charges in January.
