Jamestown\u00a0\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Medora Musical will host Veterans Appreciation Day on July 8th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

On Thursday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Stutsman County Veterans Service Officer, David Bratton pointed out that, the Medora Musical website has more information to be place on the schedule.<\/p>\n

The event features a free Keg Social at 4:30-p.m., Pitchfork Fondue at 5:30-p.m., with the Medora Musical starting at 7:30-p.m.<\/p>\n

All veterans are encouraged to wear their\u00a0 service caps to honor their branch of the service.<\/p>\n

The Warriors on the Water, Flying fishing event is August 11th, at New Town, North Dakota.<\/p>\n

The Camp Grafton\u00a0 Disabled Veterans Hunt is set for November 19 and 20th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Applications accepted until October 10th<\/sup> at the Barnes County Veterans Service Office in Valley City.\u00a0 Contact the Barnes County Veterans Serive Officer, Angela Hunt, at 845-8511, or from any Veterans Service Office. Those veterans must have at least a 50 percent disability to participate.<\/p>\n

He added that the his office in the lower level of the Law Enforcement Center now has a flag disposal box available for flag that are no longer usable.\u00a0 Just come down to the office and place the flag in the box.<\/p>\n

Flags will then be properly disposed of by the Boys Scouts, or American Legion.<\/p>\n

He added that the U.S. House of Representatives has passed House Resolution 299, concerning\u00a0 the Blue Water Navy, Viet Nam Veterans Act of 2017.<\/p>\n

The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate for action.<\/p>\n

He noted that the Williston V.A. Clinic has opened the expanded facility.<\/p>\n

The facility is twice the size of the old one at 7,500 square feet (697 square meters<\/p>\n

The tours featured a new blood drawing room, tele-retinal and tele-health rooms, new patient exam rooms and a room dedicated to women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

The clinic will also have a full-time medical doctor on staff.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Broadcasting personality Ed Schultz, whose career took him from quarterbacking at a Minnesota college to national radio and television, has died. He was 64.<\/p>\n

His son, David Schultz, tells The Associated Press that his father died of natural causes Thursday morning in Washington, D.C., where he anchored “News with Ed Schultz” on RT America, formerly Russia Today. Schultz also hosted “The Ed Show” on MSNBC from 2009 to 2015.<\/p>\n

Schultz was a standout quarterback at Minnesota State University-Moorhead in the 1970s. He went on to a career as a sportscaster at TV and radio stations in the area around Moorhead, Minnesota, and Fargo, North Dakota.<\/p>\n

He later became a conservative radio talk show host. But he was a fiery liberal by the time he took his show into national syndication in 2004.<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A county in northern North Dakota is preparing to use produced water from the oil field to help control dust on some gravel roads.<\/p>\n

The Minot Daily News reports<\/a> that the Ward County Commission approved Highway Engineer Dana Larsen’s request Tuesday to purchase a brine storage tank and distribution equipment.<\/p>\n

Brine is water trapped in underground formations that’s brought to the surface during oil and gas production. The produced water contains magnesium and calcium chlorides, which are commonly used in dust control.<\/p>\n

The county is looking to obtain produced water from a neighboring county’s well that the state Health Department says has safe water when used appropriately.<\/p>\n

Larsen hopes to get the brine facilities in place this year so that the county could start using the produced water next year.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s Health Department is warning residents to avoid blue-green algae that can develop in bodies of water.<\/p>\n

Hot summer weather contributes to the production of the algae that’s also known as cyanobacteria. People and animals who ingest affected water can get sick and even die. There’s no known antidote for toxins blue-green algae can produce.<\/p>\n

People are urged to avoid water that looks discolored or scummy or has a foul odor. Mike Ell of the department’s Division of Water Quality says algae blooms are most common in the late summer in North Dakota.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Trump tweets he has accepted resignation of scandal-plagued EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.<\/a><\/p>\n

Trump tweeted, \u201cWithin the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump,\u00a0 added that EPA Deputy Administrator Andrew Wheeler would take over as acting administrator effective Monday.<\/p>\n

UKHIYA, Bangladesh (AP) \u2014 For Rohingya women who became pregnant during the Myanmar military\u2019s traumatizing campaign of rape and other violence last year, the stigma has been severe. Some ended their pregnancies early by taking cheap abortion drugs. Others agonized over whether to give their unloved babies away. One woman was so worried about her neighbors discovering her pregnancy that she labored in silence, stuffing a scarf in her mouth to swallow her screams.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told President Donald Trump in a recent private phone call that he shouldn\u2019t appoint someone to the Supreme Court who opposes the right to abortion or the 2010 health care law. That\u2019s according to a person familiar with the call who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the details publicly. The person says the New York Democrat told Trump such a nominee would be tremendously divisive and hurt Trump\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump\u2019s campaign-style rallies have found a receptive audience at Fox News Channel. Unlike the other cable news networks, Fox often carries his speeches live and in their entirety. Critics say Fox is essentially giving Trump free access to his supporters. Fox says it is simply covering newsworthy events.<\/p>\n

LONDON (AP) \u2014 British police have confirmed that a man and woman critically ill from nerve-agent poisoning were exposed to the toxin by handling a contaminated item. The finding bolsters the theory that Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley may have stumbled across traces of the Novichok nerve agent used to poison former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar says the government will meet court deadlines to reunite migrant children with their parents. But reunited families may well remain in the custody of immigration authorities. Azar told reporters on Thursday that officials have identified \u201cunder 3,000\u201d children potentially separated from parents at the border by immigration authorities. A federal judge in California ordered the youngest children reunited by Tuesday, the rest by the end of the month.<\/p>\n
