Severe weather may be possible during this time<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board will meet this Thursday morning at\u00a0 11:30 the CSi Technology Center, at Historic Franklin School.<\/p>\n<p>There are no grant requests on the agenda, however the meeting will centered on the 2019 budget.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund projects another reduction in tax revenues.<\/p>\n<p>He says that puts Jamestown Tourism in a position to reduce the budget by $12,500.<\/p>\n<p>He adds reductions will change the operations of Jamestown Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Swedlund will propose three budget solutions to be presented at the meeting. Each one focuses the reductions in either marketing, operations, or grants.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, ND &#8211;The North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Dickey County Sheriff&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>Department conducted a DUI checkpoint in Dickey County on Friday, July 13.<\/p>\n<p>Saturation patrols were conducted in Dickey, Logan, and McIntosh Counties<\/p>\n<p>on July 13 and 14.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint and no citations<\/p>\n<p>were issued. During the saturation patrol, 23 citations were issued to include 2 open container citations, 1 DUI, and 6 drug charges.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of alcohol enforcement saturation is to remove impaired drivers from roadways. Highvisibility enforcement is one element of a collaborative effort to help meet the goal of zero motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.<\/p>\n<p>Through July 15, 23.3 percent of North Dakota\u2019s 43 fatal crashes have<\/p>\n<p>been alcohol-related.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<article id=\"story_content\" class=\"ng-binding\">RAY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Minot man is dead in a semitrailer crash that led to the shutdown of a portion of U.S. Highway 2 due to a fuel spill.The Highway Patrol says the semi with two trailers went into the median about 3 miles west of Ray and overturned about 4 a.m. Monday.The 67-year-old driver died at the scene. He wasn&#8217;t immediately identified.The semi was hauling about 9,000 gallons of gasoline and 1,000 gallons of diesel. It wasn&#8217;t immediately known how much spilled. The highway was closed so the spill could be cleaned up, with traffic rerouted.\u00a0<\/article>\n<p>WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A county emergency manager is pushing for better weather radar coverage in western North Dakota after a tornado ripped through the area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bismarcktribune.com\/bakken\/weather-radar-coverage-for-western-n-d-questioned-after-tornado\/article_a2ff5d36-d429-5cd2-9fcf-07a009481ea6.html\">The Bismarck Tribune reports<\/a> that the closest Doppler radars to Watford City are about 140 miles (225 kilometers) away near Minot. Warning coordination meteorologist John Paul Martin says radars at that distance detect storms forming at least 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) above ground.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency manager Karolin Jappe is advocating for a radar closer to McKenzie County, which leads the state in oil production. Watford City faced an EF2 classification tornado <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apnews.com\/23641a05a22d4598b961b448d83ccccb\">last week<\/a> that killed a newborn baby and injured more than two dozen.<\/p>\n<p>Officials aren&#8217;t clear whether better radar coverage would&#8217;ve changed the outcome, but Gov. (AP) \u2014 Work will begin this summer on the new outdoor practice area for the University of South Dakota&#8217;s football team.<\/p>\n<p>The Argus Leader reports that the Coyotes may be able to use the new outdoor fields later this fall or when practice begins in the spring.<\/p>\n<p>The project is part of the university&#8217;s $26.3 million transformation of its athletic facilities. University athletic director David Herbster says more detailed renderings of the finished product will be available later this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Work will also replace the portable bleachers with permanent seats. The American Civil Liberties Union filed paperwork saying attorneys were concerned about rumors of \u201cmass deportations\u201d following reunification of children ages five to 17 with their parents. Judge Dana Sabraw said Monday he\u2019d order a temporary halt to any deportations for a week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>LOS FRESNOS, Texas (AP) \u2014 The Trump administration has made it harder for Central Americans fleeing gangs and domestic violence to travel to the U.S. and ask for asylum. Attorneys representing asylum seekers say their clients are being more frequently denied \u201ccredible fear\u201d of bodily harm or death in their home countries since Attorney General Jeff Sessions tightened who can qualify. They also say immigration judges are reluctant to reverse those decisions on appeal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 A New York state agency is investigating tenant harassment claims in a Brooklyn apartment building owned by the Kushner Cos. The probe by Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s Tenant Protection Unit comes after a report by The Associated Press uncovered allegations that noisy construction was used to harass tenants. On Monday, 20 tenants and former tenants filed suit against Jared Kushner\u2019s family firm for allegedly making living conditions in their building intolerable.
