(AP) \u2014 A pilot has died in a crop duster crash into the Missouri River in western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bismarcktribune.com\/news\/local\/mandan\/pilot-dies-after-crop-duster-plane-crash-in-morton-county\/article_0b67d441-e40f-55fe-ad4f-d30a1bd59486.html\">The Bismarck Tribune<\/a> reports the plane crashed into the river near Fort Rice on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for the Morton County Sheriff&#8217;s Department says the plane crashed shortly after 3 p.m. less than a mile north of the Fort Rice boat ramp.<\/p>\n<p>The plane was partially submerged in the water. A dive team boat from the Burleigh County Sheriff&#8217;s Department dragged the plane to the Hazelton boat ramp.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A suspect in a high speed pursuit remains at large after running from his disabled vehicle in Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop in West Fargo shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday. <a href=\"http:\/\/kfgo.com\/news\/articles\/2018\/jul\/18\/suspect-in-metro-police-pursuit-remains-on-the-run\/\">KFGO<\/a> reports the driver headed into Fargo and drove into a field near Interstate 29.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect ran from the vehicle after it struck a curb and became disabled. A police dog tracked the suspect to a garage, but there was no trace of the man.<\/p>\n<p>West Fargo Police Lt. Jason Dura says a weapon and burglary tools were found in the abandoned vehicle. Police say the man is wanted on outstanding warrants.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Nearly $100,000 has been raised so far to help people affected by a tornado that hit Watford City.<\/p>\n<p>McKenzie County Emergency Manager Karolin Jappe <a href=\"https:\/\/bismarcktribune.com\/bakken\/watford-city-tornado-relief-fund-raises-so-far\/article_233155db-17dd-5282-97b8-2fdbbc56b325.html\">tells The Bismarck Tribune<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/ndcf.fcsuite.com\/erp\/donate\/create?setc=1&amp;funit_id=1512\">a local relief fund<\/a> will go directly to families impacted by the storm.<\/p>\n<p>The tornado that tore through a recreational vehicle park early on July 10 killed a baby, injured more than two dozen people and displaced about 200. Jappe says one injured woman is expected to remain hospitalized for at least another month.<\/p>\n<p>The community is working to raise funds to help people with medical bills, housing expenses and other needs. (AP) \u2014 Development of spring wheat, corn and soybean crops in North Dakota is ahead of the average pace.The federal Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report that 94 percent of the spring wheat crop has headed, 19 percent of the soybeans have pods, and corn silking is at 33 percent.The majority of most crops in North Dakota remain rated in good condition, with 77 percent of the sugar beet crop rated as excellent.Eighty-three percent of subsoil moisture supplies and 87 percent of topsoil moistures supplies statewide are rated adequate to surplus.<\/p>\n<p>Stockwater supplies are rated 89 percent in those categories, and pastures are rated 71 percent in good to excellent condition.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Republican U.S. House candidate Kelly Armstrong continues to hold a fundraising advantage over Democrat Mac Schneider.<\/p>\n<p>Federal filings show Armstrong raised more than $381,000 in the second quarter, compared with about $215,000 for Schneider. Armstrong reported more than $407,000 cash on hand, compared with $281,600 for Schneider.<\/p>\n<p>Armstrong has raised more than $1 million to date, include a $300,000 loan to himself. Schneider has raised a total of about $340,000.<\/p>\n<p>Armstrong is a lawyer and state senator from Dickinson. He also is the former state GOP party chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Schneider is an attorney and former state senator from Grand Forks.<\/p>\n<p>North Dakota&#8217;s lone House seat is being vacated by Republican Rep. (AP) \u2014 The case of a Bismarck man accused of possessing and sending child pornography has been moved from state to federal court.<\/p>\n<p>The Bismarck Tribune reports that 50-year-old Curtis McGarvey is charged in U.S. District Court with production or attempted production of images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors and possession of images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.<\/p>\n<p>McGarvey was charged in Burleigh County with 21 counts of promoting obscenity to minors, six counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor, one count of child neglect, one count of terrorizing and a misdemeanor count of stalking. Those charges have been dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators say McGarvey also planted covert cameras in his residence.<\/p>\n<p>McGarvey is scheduled to appear in federal court in Bismarck on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities have euthanized a bear that caused a stir when it wandered into Grand Forks and decided to take an afternoon nap in a tree in a park.<\/p>\n<p>Bears are an unusual sight in North Dakota, and hundreds of people came out to see the animal Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>A team from Fargo&#8217;s Red River Zoo eventually was brought in Monday night to tranquilize the animal so it could be lowered to the ground.<\/p>\n<p>WDAZ-TV reports that police on Tuesday said they consulted with wildlife experts and decided the bear would not survive the incident, so it was humanely euthanized.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A company has begun site work for an oil refinery about 3 miles (5 kilometers) from Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Meridian Energy Group says it&#8217;s hired a Minnesota-based company to handle such work as grading land, installing erosion control devices and developing storm water ponds. Meridian spokesman Adam Williams says the work began Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Several environmental groups oppose the Davis Refinery, fearing it will impact the park&#8217;s scenery. They&#8217;ve launched several challenges, including a lawsuit over a state air quality permit that allows construction to proceed.<\/p>\n<p>North Dakota Air Quality Director Terry O&#8217;Clair has said that in light of the lawsuit, Meridian is proceeding at its own risk.<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the $800 million refinery itself isn&#8217;t planned until next year, with operations to start in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<article id=\"story_content\" class=\"ng-binding\">GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle will help lead the search for a University of North Dakota law school dean.The Grand Forks school says VandeWalle and law professor James Grijalva will be co-chairmen of the 13-person search committee.The dean position most recently was held by Kathryn Rand, who stepped down to return to teaching full time. The school features development of the whole person through its distinctive Journey to Success experience.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Valley City Public Schools superintendent Josh Johnson and Dacotah Bank\u2019s Market President, Dick Gulmon, have jointly announced the new Hanna Field Athletic Complex, \u00a0will be named Dacotah Bank Track.<\/p>\n<p>For the naming rights, Dacotah Bank made a significant donation to the multi-phase project as part of the overall $4 million improvement plan.<\/p>\n<p>The local bank\u2019s contribution helps fund the initial $500,000 phase which will include a new track, redesigned water drainage, and construction of an athletic field house.
