(AP) \u2014 Fire has destroyed the historic community center in Pingree.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say the building that burned Sunday evening was nearly 90 years old and at one time had been used as a school gymnasium before it became the community center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kfgo.com\/news\/articles\/2018\/sep\/10\/historic-building-in-pingree-north-dakota-leveled-in-fire\/\">KFGO<\/a> reports resident Troy Thomas had been in the building before it caught fire and thought he could smell smoke when he turned on the lights.<\/p>\n<p>Pingree is about 20 miles northwest of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says, the suspect in the SuperPumper armed robbery, Travis James Allcock is in custody.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken into custody in Clay County Minnesota Friday\u00a0 morning.<\/p>\n<p>In the news release, the Chief thanks\u00a0 everyone who contacted law enforcement with information over the last few days, and to all of the area law enforcement agencies that assisted with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Am underground fault, in Northeast Jamestown was the cause of an early morning power outage in Jamestown, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Otter Tail Power reports the outage occurred between 2:30-a.m., and 4:30-a.m., and affected around 400 customers including the University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Police report the driver of a car that went front end first into a street construction hole on Wednesday September 5th was not injured.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened at First Avenue \u00a0North,\u00a0and Thirteenth Street.<\/p>\n<p>The report says 62 year old Dale Quenzer, was\u00a0operating \u00a0a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu northbound\u00a0 on\u00a0the 1200 block of First Avenue North.<\/p>\n<p>He attempted\u00a0to turn\u00a0left onto\u00a0Thirteenth Street Northwest when the car\u00a0wen into the\u00a0construction pit.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the incident, workers with \u00a0Scherbenske Inc.\u00a0were\u00a0 pulling equipment out of the hole, temporarily removing\u00a0 barricades.<\/p>\n<p>Quenzer\u00a0told police that\u00a0he\u00a0failed to\u00a0see the hole after\u00a0 going around various construction trailers on First Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The report says no signal person was at the site,\u00a0to\u00a0point out\u00a0that area of the road was closed.<\/p>\n<p>Quenzer was wearing a seat belt, and was able to\u00a0get out of the car, not being hurt.<\/p>\n<p>Minor damage was sustained\u00a0to the auto\u2019s undercarriage, which was\u00a0\u00a0 towed from the scene<\/p>\n<p>The report indicated no citations issued.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck\u00a0 (CSi) Jamestown will\u00a0be the site of\u00a0the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association\u00a0 state convention Sept. 11-12.<\/p>\n<p>The event hosted by the Stutsman County Area Retired Teachers Association, will be held at the Gladstone Inn &amp; Suites.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers slated\u00a0include Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent, Robert Lech, and a representative of the North Dakota Teachers Fund for Retirement.<\/p>\n<p>Retired teachers interested in attending the convention or becoming a member of the Stutsman County Association can contact Art Mitzel at 252-4229.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown From (Deb Lee)\u00a0 Tuesday 9-11-2018 the Jamestown Freedom Walk starts at 6-p.m., from Zonta Park, \u00a0ending \u00a0at the All Vet\u2019s Club.<\/p>\n<p>This is a day to honor first responders and fellow Americans who lost their lives on 9-11-2001 and to remember those who have since perished in the global war on terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>Lynn Tally of Mary\u2019s Place will have a program following the walk. Officers entered and arrested the woman without incident.She&#8217;s being held in the Clay County Jail. (AP) \u2014 Fargo police have arrested a North Dakota man in a homicide at a hotel over the weekend.Officers were called to a disturbance at the AmericInn Hotel around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and found a man lying in the hallway with an apparent stab wound to his lower torso.The victim was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. He is identified as 23-year-old Jakob Dirks of West Fargo.Police arrested a 21-year-old Cooperstown man in connection with Dirks&#8217; death.An autopsy was ordered. The death is still under investigation.<\/article>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Grand Forks police say the death of a 5-month-old girl has been ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n<p>KFGO radio reports 18-year-old Mason Kamrowski was arrested Friday and charged with murder in the death of Brynley Rymer.<\/p>\n<p>The infant died May 22 at a Fargo hospital, a day after she was brought to a Grand Forks hospital by a caretaker.<\/p>\n<p>Kamrowski is being held in the Grand Forks County jail. Court records do not list an attorney for him.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the investigation remains open.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Rhode Island woman accused of funneling lottery scam money between the U.S. and Jamaica through her airline job goes on trial in federal court in North Dakota this week. She is the last of 27 defendants in the case that began seven years ago this month. Here&#8217;s a look at the case and the upcoming trial of Melinda Bulgin, which is expected to last up to 10 days.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Trade Commission estimates that lottery scams could be a billion-dollar-a-year industry in Jamaica. This is believed to be the first large-scale Jamaican lottery scam tried in U.S. courts, and it will create a template for future investigations, Assistant U.S. Attorney Clare Hochhalter said.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. attorney&#8217;s office expects many more investigations in both the U.S. and Jamaica, though Hochhalter believes it will take a combined effort of governments, citizens and law officers to put a serious dent in the Jamaican lottery scam industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MANDAN, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Police say a 17-year-old boy is suspected of stabbing two people in Mandan.<\/p>\n<p>Mandan police say a 25-year-old female and a 27-year-old male were injured in the incident early Friday morning. Police say they were taken to a Bismarck hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The Bismarck Tribune reports the teen suspect faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held at the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A judge has denied a new trial for a Minot man convicted of murder in the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend last year.<\/p>\n<p>A jury in May convicted 28-year-old Bradley Morales in the August 2017 death of 25-year-old Sharmaine Leake after an apparent domestic dispute. He faces life in prison when he&#8217;s sentenced Sept. 28.<\/p>\n<p>Morales objected to a presentence investigation and requested a new trial. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.minotdailynews.com\/news\/local-news\/2018\/09\/bradley-morales-minot-is-denied-a-new-murder-trial\/\">The Minot Daily News reports<\/a> that Judge Doug Mattson declined, saying there was sufficient evidence to convict Morales of murder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Events are being planned across North Dakota as the centennial of the end of World War I approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Bismarck&#8217;s Darrell Dorgan is heading up the committee spearheading the effort. He tells the Minot Daily News that the group is asking communities across the state to get involved, and to inform the committee of events already planned so they can be included on a website .<\/p>\n<p>A list of those who died during the war also is to be included on the site.<\/p>\n<p>The committee also is asking county veterans services officers and local veterans organizations to read the names of the more than 1,300 North Dakotans who died. The committee has requested the names be read aloud from the steps of county courthouses or other public places on Nov. 11.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota geologists are attempting to locate local sources of sand to be used for hydraulic fracturing as the oil industry demand grows.<\/p>\n<p>The Bismarck Tribune reports that the North Dakota Geological Survey is collecting sandstone samples from Billings and McKenzie counties.<\/p>\n<p>The agency had already collected samples in other areas and authored a 2011 study that found the state&#8217;s sand sources are lower in quality than other U.S. sources. Myles Jack scored on a 32-yard interception return early in the fourth quarter to give Jacksonville a 20-9 lead before Barkley&#8217;s TD. Blake Bortles threw for 176 yards and a touchdown for the Jags, who finished the game without Leonard Fournette because of a hamstring injury suffered in the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Brady threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns as the Patriots opened with a 27-20 victory over Houston. Rob Gronkowski grabbed a 21-yard scoring strike from Brady and finished with seven receptions for 123 yards. Mahomes was 15 of 27 for 256 yards in the Chiefs&#8217; ninth straight win over the Chargers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Clayton Fejedelem scored on an 83-yard fumble return with 24 seconds to go to seal the Bengals&#8217; 34-23 victory at Indianapolis. Andy Dalton rallied Cincinnati with three scores in the final 19 minutes of the team&#8217;s first win in its last nine visits to Indianapolis. Andrew Luck was 39 of 53 for two touchdowns and one interception in his first start in more than 20 months.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Joe Flacco threw for three touchdowns and was 25 of 34 for 236 yards before being replaced in the third quarter of the Ravens&#8217; 47-3 pounding of the Bills. The Ravens held Buffalo to 33 yards and no first downs in going up 26-0 at the half.
