News) \u2013 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported Monday that the two Wisconsin individuals involved in a Mar 20, 2013 traffic accident have both died from their injuries.<\/p>\n<p>They are 22 year old Kyle Truckey of Thorp, Wisconsin who died on March 22, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, and 23 year old Tiffancy Przbycien of Amery, Wisconsin, who died March 23, of her injuries, also at Fargo\u2019s Sanford Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The rollover accident occurred at 12:05 p.m., on Wednesday (Mar 20, 2013), on I-94 eastbound, 1 \u00be miles west of Exit 281, in Barnes County, injured a 23 year old woman, and 22 year old man from Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>The report says the car operated by Tiffany Przbycien, of Amery, Wisconsin, drove through a portion of the ice covered roadway, as she lost control of the vehicle, and it began to spin, going into the median and rolling over, coming to rest across the westbound lanes facing south on it\u2019s wheels.<\/p>\n<p>The driver and her passenger, Kyle Truckey, of Thorp, Wisconsin, were both ejected, and suffered life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p>They were taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City by the Barnes County Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Sanborn Fire Department and the Valley City Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Fire Department is hosting a &#8220;Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Presentation&#8221; on March 26th, 2013 at the main fire station at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>On a recent Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Chief Reuther suggested that interested candidates bring along a spouse or significant other to hear the presentation and be part of the decision making process.<\/p>\n<p>He added that qualifications to be a city fire fighter initially includes be at least 21 years old, and a City Of Jamestown resident.<\/p>\n<p>The fire department over the past few years has found it hard to recruit new volunteer firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>He said Jamestown is not the only fire department that is experiencing the decrease in volunteer firefighters, noting fire departments in the western part of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Reuther pointed out that upcoming retirements at JFD will also necessitate the recruitment of additional fire fighters.<\/p>\n<p>The likelihood exists that with the addition of a fire station in southwest Jamestown to accomodate Jamestown\u2019s expansion, that more firefighters will be needed.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of reasons why I believe it\u2019s been so difficult to recruit new firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>It is a big commitment for the firefighter<\/p>\n<p>Family commitments<\/p>\n<p>Training has increased tremendously; this is mostly due to the fact of keeping the firefighter safe.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, the city fire department roster is (4) firefighters short of the full roster of (38). (March 22, 2013) \u2013 The Farm Rescue Foundation andWoodworth Fire Department will now be able to better serve the community, thanks to the support of local farmer, James Odenbach, and America\u2019s Farmers Grow Communities.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation will use the donation to provide assistance to farm families who have experienced a major injury or illness so they may have an opportunity to continue their livelihood.<\/p>\n<p>The fire department will use the funds to purchase turnout gear and to equip a used truck it recently acquired.<\/p>\n<p>Odenbach said, &#8220;I am happy to direct the Grow Communities donations to these two organizations. The Farm Rescue Foundation has helped me before when I was injured, and I am a volunteer for the fire department. I know they both are always in need of funding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, Grow Communities provides farmers in eligible counties the chance to win a $2,500 donation for a local nonprofit organization of their choice.<\/p>\n<p>To further support counties declared natural disaster areas by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) due to the drought this year, winning farmers in these counties are able to direct double donations, a total of $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County was declared a disaster area by the USDA, giving Odenbach the opportunity to choose two organizations to receive $2,500 donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>From Sen. News) &#8212; VCSU is making plans for Earth Week activities on campus and the 2nd Annual VCSU Earth Day Festival. (AP) &#8211; More than 300 abortion-rights activists attended a rally at the state Capitol in Bismarck to protest a package of measures that would give the state the toughest abortion restrictions in the nation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The newly formed Stand Up For Women North Dakota also planned rallies Monday in Fargo, Grand Forks and Minot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Organizer Robin Nelson says the intent of the rallies is to show solidarity for women&#8217;s rights issues.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature has passed several anti-abortion measures this session. Most are awaiting the signature of Republican Gov. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says residents in the Fargo area won&#8217;t have to worry about getting enough money from the state to help with an expected spring flood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple on Monday met with federal, state and local officials to outline plans to tackle high water from the Red River and its tributaries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The governor says Fargo has &#8220;the best flood-fighting team in the United States.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Weather Service says the river has a 50-50 chance of reaching 38 feet in Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minn., which would be 20 feet above flood stage.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It would be the fourth major flood in five years for Fargo-Moorhead residents.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo officials plan to open an emergency operations center on April 2. John Hoeven says he expects a funding bill that includes a Red River flood diversion project to reach the Senate floor in April or May.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoeven was in Fargo Monday at a meeting of federal, state and local officials who are making plans to protect Fargo and Cass County against spring flooding along the Red River and its tributaries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The White House has signed off on a 36-mile diversion channel that would move water around Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., but the nearly $2 billion project needs approval from Congress.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoeven says he believes the project will pass the Senate. Then it will go to the House.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The National Weather Service is predicting the fourth major flood in five years for the Fargo-Moorhead area.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two people have been killed after a camper caught fire in Williston.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fire Chief Dave Benthsays the Williston Rural Fire Department responded to the call at about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and had the fire extinguished in about 15 minutes.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sheriff Scott Busching says didn&#8217;t provide details of the circumstances but two people are dead. Their names have not yet been released.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Benth said no members of the fire department or sheriff&#8217;s office were injured.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The fire also spread to a transmission line pole and forced Montana-Dakota Utilities to shut down power to a substation to allow crews access to the camper. Power was back up in the Williston area by about 8:30 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A burglary suspect who took police back to his mobile home to show them items he allegedly stole pulled out a gun and killed himself.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPolice took 44-year-old David Doda into custody Saturday afternoon after a woman called to report a burglary.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Mark Buschena says officers arrived and found Doda coming out of the woman&#8217;s mobile home. They interviewed Doda at the police department and he agreed to show them stolen items at his mobile home.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A detective and two patrol officers accompanied Doda to his home. Buschena says as officers searched, Doda pulled out a gun and fatally shot himself in the head.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Buschena says the department will review policies and procedures to determine if anything could have been done differently.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Police in North Dakota&#8217;s largest city say their investment in a pair of $800 graffiti sensors appears to be paying off.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fargo police have been using the sensors since 2010, installing them in areas that are common targets for graffiti. The sensors detect fumes from spray paint and alert authorities.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lt. Joel Vettel says eight people were charged with graffiti offenses last year, and all the cases involved multiple violations.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vettel says cameras installed near graffiti-prone areas also are helping cut down on the crime.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota ranchers are braving cold weather to care for their cattle during calving season.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kidder County Extension Agent Penny Nester says the below-normal temperatures require ranchers to check cows more often and make sure calves are warm, drinking property and moving around to build their own energy.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nester says calves left out in the cold risk losing ears or tails to frostbite.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The average temperature for March in the Bismarck area has been 21.3 degrees, compared to the average temperature of 29.9 degrees for that month in the last 20 years.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nester notes that calving season is stressful even in warm weather.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In world and national news&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>KABUL (AP) &#8211; Afghan President Hamid Karzai says his recent comments that made officials in Washington so angry had been misinterpreted by the media. Karzai had accused Washington of colluding with Taliban insurgents to keep Afghanistan weak, even as the Obama administration moved ahead with plans to hand off security responsibility to Afghan forces. After meeting today with visiting Secretary of State John Kerry, Karzai also defended allegations he has made about American troops abusing Afghan civilians, saying the comments weren&#8217;t meant to &#8220;offend&#8221; anyone, but simply to protect his people.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SEATTLE (AP) &#8211; A man who plotted to attack a Seattle military complex with machine guns and grenades has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. A federal judge Monday also sentenced Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif to 10 years supervised release. He had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder U.S. officers and conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction. Authorities say he and a co-defendant had discussed how they wanted to gun down people in the Military Entrance Processing Station in Seattle as revenge for what they said were atrocities by U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DOHA, Qatar (AP) &#8211; Libya&#8217;s foreign minister says the widow of the late ruler Moammar Gadhafi and other family members have been granted asylum in Oman. He says it&#8217;s &#8220;too soon&#8221; to discuss whether Libya will eventually seek their extradition. The Libyan official says the Gadhafi family members moved to Oman from Algeria after receiving the offer of asylum.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) &#8211; The administration of Florida Gov. Rick Scott is shutting down the lieutenant governor&#8217;s office for now. Former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll resigned earlier this month after she was interviewed as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged widespread gambling ring. She has not been accused of any wrongdoing. But the remaining four employees in Carroll&#8217;s office are losing their jobs.
