News Mar 26, 2013)&#8211; A 51 year old man from Milwaukee, faces multiple felony charges, in Southeast District court.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stem from events that occurred this month. Adrian Williams,\u00a0of \u00a0Milwaukee, was charged on March 14 with gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony.<\/p>\n<p>A criminal complaint alleges that Williams is accused of &#8220;engaging in a sexual act with another and by compelling the victim to submit by force or by threat of imminent death, serious bodily injury, or kidnapping, to be inflicted&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Williams has also been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two Class A felonies.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation alleges that Williams sold counterfeit merchandise at his store, Spotlight Clothing and Accessories, at First Avenue South in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Williams is in custody at the Stutsman County Correctional Center, with Bond set at $40,000.<\/p>\n<p>Investigations are be led by the Stutsman County Drug Task Force, and Jamestown Police.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2013 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported Monday that the two Wisconsin individuals involved in a Mar 20, 2013 traffic accident have both died from their injuries.<\/p>\n<p>They are 22 year old Kyle Truckey of Thorp, Wisconsin who died on March 22, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, and 23 year old Tiffancy Przbycien of Amery, Wisconsin, who died March 23, of her injuries, also at Fargo\u2019s Sanford Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The rollover accident occurred at 12:05 p.m., on Wednesday (Mar 20, 2013), on I-94 eastbound, 1 \u00be miles west of Exit 281, in Barnes County, injured a 23 year old woman, and 22 year old man from Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>The report says the car operated by Tiffany Przbycien, of Amery, Wisconsin, drove through a portion of the ice covered roadway, as she lost control of the vehicle, and it began to spin, going into the median and rolling over, coming to rest across the westbound lanes facing south on it\u2019s wheels.<\/p>\n<p>The driver and her passenger, Kyle Truckey, of Thorp, Wisconsin, were both ejected, and suffered life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p>They were taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City by the Barnes County Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Sanborn Fire Department and the Valley City Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; The Jamestown Fire Department is hosting a &#8220;Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Presentation&#8221; on March 26th, 2013 at the main fire station at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>On a recent Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Chief Reuther suggested that interested candidates bring along a spouse or significant other to hear the presentation and be part of the decision making process.<\/p>\n<p>He added that qualifications to be a city fire fighter initially includes be at least 21 years old, and a City Of Jamestown resident.<\/p>\n<p>The fire department over the past few years has found it hard to recruit new volunteer firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>He said Jamestown is not the only fire department that is experiencing the decrease in volunteer firefighters, noting fire departments in the western part of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Reuther pointed out that upcoming retirements at JFD will also necessitate the recruitment of additional fire fighters.<\/p>\n<p>The likelihood exists that with the addition of a fire station in southwest Jamestown to accomodate Jamestown\u2019s expansion, that more firefighters will be needed.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of reasons why I believe it\u2019s been so difficult to recruit new firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>It is a big commitment for the firefighter<\/p>\n<p>Family commitments<\/p>\n<p>Training has increased tremendously; this is mostly due to the fact of keeping the firefighter safe.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, the city fire department roster is (4) firefighters short of the full roster of (38). (March 22, 2013) \u2013 The Farm Rescue Foundation andWoodworth Fire Department will now be able to better serve the community, thanks to the support of local farmer, James Odenbach, and America\u2019s Farmers Grow Communities.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation will use the donation to provide assistance to farm families who have experienced a major injury or illness so they may have an opportunity to continue their livelihood.<\/p>\n<p>The fire department will use the funds to purchase turnout gear and to equip a used truck it recently acquired.<\/p>\n<p>Odenbach said, &#8220;I am happy to direct the Grow Communities donations to these two organizations. The Farm Rescue Foundation has helped me before when I was injured, and I am a volunteer for the fire department. I know they both are always in need of funding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, Grow Communities provides farmers in eligible counties the chance to win a $2,500 donation for a local nonprofit organization of their choice.<\/p>\n<p>To further support counties declared natural disaster areas by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) due to the drought this year, winning farmers in these counties are able to direct double donations, a total of $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>Stutsman County was declared a disaster area by the USDA, giving Odenbach the opportunity to choose two organizations to receive $2,500 donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>From Sen. News Mar 22, 2013) <strong>&#8211;<\/strong> U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp has announced she will host a series of discussion sessions in North Dakota over the Congressional Work Period focused on housing issues in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Heitkamp will attend the Thursday, April 4, 2013 Housing Meeting in Valley City from 10:00 \u201311:00am CT at the Regional Technology Center,415 Winter Show Road, SE in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>She says, North Dakota has experienced serious housing challenges in recent years, and adds, she will work with community and industry leaders to seek solutions.<\/p>\n<p>In the news release Senator Heitkamp says:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;North Dakota as a whole is experiencing a serious housing crisis, Western North Dakota is seeing almost constant changes due to the oil boom, but equally important are the other areas of our state that face challenges all their own. News Mar 25, 2013) &#8212; The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports, the drawdown of Lake Ashtabula, is expected to be completed by the March, 31, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>At last report, 500 cubic feet per second (CFS) is being released from Bald Hill Dam, into the Sheyenne River, with the last reported lake elevation late last week at just over 1258 feet.<\/p>\n<p>The summer pool elevation is 1266 feet.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) \u2013 Valley City State University will host a Regional Science Olympiad for teams of high school and junior high students on campus Thursday, March 28, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Most events will be held in the new Rhoades Science Center, with additional competition taking place in Foss Music Hall, Graichen Gym and the City Auditorium<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-three high school teams and 16 junior high teams \u2013 comprising 500 to 600 students \u2013 will compete at VCSU.<\/p>\n<p>The VCSU event is one of five regional competitions throughout the state. Winning teams from each of the regionals will advance to the state competition April 20 at North Dakota State University.<\/p>\n<p>VCSU science students and faculty members, assisted by Science Olympiad team coaches, will run the various events on topics including anatomy and physiology, food science, astronomy, forestry, rocks and minerals, thermodynamics, water quality, musical sounds, circuits, chemistry, and genetics, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Most events will be held in the new Rhoades Science Center, with additional competition taking place in Foss Music Hall, Graichen Gym and the City Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>From VCSU Newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) &#8212; VCSU is making plans for Earth Week activities on campus and the 2nd Annual VCSU Earth Day Festival. The festival will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at Medicine Wheel Park and will serve as the kick off to campus activities designed to create awareness of our environment and the impact we make now and into the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n<p>Beginning at 5:00 pm, the festival will include vendors with information and samples from food and personal consumables to energy. (AP) &#8211; Authorities say one worker had singed hair on his beard and two others reported hearing loss after an explosion inside a Bismarck business, but there were no serious injuries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The blast at BEP Petroleum &amp; Tank on Monday afternoon blew a hole in the roof of the building. Fire officials say workers welding on a tanker used to transport petroleum products ignited fumes inside the tank.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Damage was estimated at about $50,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Two people have been killed after a camper caught fire in Williston. Fire Chief Dave Benth\u00a0says \u00a0the Williston Rural Fire Department responded to the call at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday morning and had the fire extinguished in about 15 minutes. Sheriff Scott Busching didn&#8217;t provide details of the circumstances, but two people are dead.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; A burglary suspect who took police back to his mobile home to show them items he allegedly stole pulled out a gun and killed himself.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPolice took 44-year-old David Doda into custody Saturday afternoon after a woman called to report a burglary.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sgt. Mark Buschena says officers arrived and found Doda coming out of the woman&#8217;s mobile home. They interviewed Doda at the police department and he agreed to show them stolen items at his mobile home.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A detective and two patrol officers accompanied Doda to his home. Buschena says as officers searched, Doda pulled out a gun and fatally shot himself in the head.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Buschena says the department will review policies and procedures to determine if anything could have been done differently.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple says residents in the Fargo area won&#8217;t have to worry about getting enough money from the state to help with an expected spring flood.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dalrymple on Monday met with federal, state and local officials to outline plans to tackle high water from the Red River and its tributaries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The governor says Fargo has &#8220;the best flood-fighting team in the United States.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven says he expects a funding bill that includes a Red River flood diversion project to reach the Senate floor in April or May.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoeven was in Fargo Monday at a meeting of federal, state and local officials who are making plans to protect Fargo and Cass County against spring flooding along the Red River and its tributaries.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The White House has signed off on a 36-mile diversion channel that would move water around Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., but the nearly $2 billion project needs approval from Congress.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hoeven says he believes the project will pass the Senate. Then it will go to the House.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; The North Dakota National Guard leader says there are more than 2,000 soldiers and airmen who are prepared to help with spring flooding.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commander Dave Sprynczynatyk (sprihn-suh-NAT&#8217;-ik) says Guard members have been conducting exercises to help with flood fighting and have identified &#8220;worst-case scenarios.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sprynczynatyk says the state military plans next week to take inventory of equipment and supplies that could be used in the flood protection effort.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The most serious flooding in North Dakota is expected along the Red River and its tributaries. The National Weather Service says the river has a 50-50 chance to going 20 feet above flood stage in Fargo.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More than 3,000 National Guard soldiers and airmen participated in flood-fighting operations in North Dakota in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Nearly 30 members of the North Dakota Air National Guard&#8217;s 119th Security Forces Squadron have left for a six-month deployment to Afghanistan. The Fargo-based unit just completed a nearly three-month hiatus from overseas deployments &#8211; its first since shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The airmen will work in three squads to perform security missions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) &#8211; More than 300 abortion-rights activists attended a rally at the state Capitol in Bismarck, Monday, \u00a0to protest a package of measures that would give the state the toughest abortion restrictions in the nation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The newly formed Stand Up For Women North Dakota also planned rallies Monday in Fargo, Grand Forks and Minot.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Organizer Robin Nelson says the intent of the rallies is to show solidarity for women&#8217;s rights issues.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Legislature has passed several anti-abortion measures this session. Most are awaiting the signature of Republican Gov. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota lawmakers have endorsed a bill that would reimburse business owners for signage incurred from a new statewide smoking ban. The Senate unanimously passed the measure yesterday. The new law passed by voters in November expands the ban to bars, motels, private nursing homes, cabs and public transportation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) &#8211; Officials at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota are recruiting workers who lost their jobs at a Fargo biomedical research company.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 More than 300 PRACS Institute employees were laid off last week when the company announced it was headed toward bankruptcy. The company had operated in Fargo for three decades.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Blue Cross officials have scheduled a job fair for PRACS workers on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0SHARON, N.D. (AP) &#8211; North Dakota rancher Chris Johnson is seeing double a lot this spring.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Out of the first roughly 100 cows that gave birth on his ranch near Sharon, 19 had twins, for a rate of about 20 percent. Typically, the rate for twin calves is about 3 percent.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Johnson tells Agweek\u00a0 that twin calves are more curse than blessing because they usually require more care and attention than single calves.
