Bismarck\u00a0 (NDHP) \u00a0 To Support St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital with No Shave \/ Nail Polish November .\u00a0 The ND Highway Patrol will be participating in No\u2010Shave \/ Nail Polish November to financially support and promote the work of St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital.<\/p>\n
NDHP Colonel Brandon Solberg granted a month\u2010long exemption to the dress code policy to participants, which allows female troopers to paint their fingernails and male troopers to grow beards or goatees.<\/p>\n
Sergeant Adam Dvorak and Trooper Brandon Wade organized the event. Dvorak stated, \u201cWe all know someone who has been affected by cancer and by growing a beard or painting fingernails, the public will notice we look a little different.\u201d Wade added, \u201cHopefully this will be a conversation starter and allow us to talk about those we love who have battled cancer as\u00a0well as give us a chance to hear stories from the public.\u201d<\/p>\n
St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital opened in 1962 and was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food, because the organization believes the only thing a family should worry about is helping their child live. Many NDHP Troopers have family members and
\nfriends diagnosed with cancer and decided to contribute all funds raised to St. Jude\u2019s for their commitment to research, treatment, and support of families.<\/p>\n
