A winter weather advisory Friday evening through Saturday afternoon, including all but the southwest and counties along the Devils Lake <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=basin\">basin<\/a> and James River Valley.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory should end <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=Sat\">Sat<\/a> afternoon as the snow end from north to south <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/glossary.php?word=Sat\">Sat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 With\u00a0 eligible Stutsman County voters casting Early Voting ballots, 2,247 ballots were cast just before 3-p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>That compares to the total for early voting in the November 2016 General Election at 2,395.\u00a0 That\u2019s 12 percent of 19,963 residents eligible to vote in Stutsman County.<\/p>\n<p>Friday is the final day for Early Voting at the Stutsman County Courthouse, from 8-a.m., to 5-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Absentee ballots are accepted though Monday November 5, with a postmark of November 5 or earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Absentee ballots received after November 5<sup>th<\/sup> will be counted, with the proper postmark.<\/p>\n<p>On election day, November 6th vote in person at the Jamestown Civic Center, from 7-a.m. to 7-p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Kiwanis Club is excited to be holding their eighth food packing event for Kids Against Hunger and look forward to the opportunity to feed starving families across the region. Since the Kiwanis Club started the project they have packed over 1.1 million meals for those in need.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, they are partnering with the Great Plains Food Bank to distribute the meals to those in need across North Dakota and parts of Western Minnesota.\u00a0 In 2017 Great Plains Food Bank used up their donation of 100,000 meals within six months.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown Kiwanis Club board member, Tim Perkins says, \u201cFood stamps only go so far.\u00a0 We do this for the kids. Every year, when we talk about hungry children, Kiwanis says \u2018we won\u2019t stand for that.\u2019 And every year, the community supports us. Jamestown is a kind and generous community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On a recent, Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, Jamestown Kiwanis Club member Michelle Watne said, <strong>the next packing event is Saturday, November 3, from 9-a.m., to 12-noon, at Stutsman Harley Davidson in Jamestown<\/strong>, with the goal to pack another 80,000 meals.\u00a0 Each meal costs only 25\u00a2, so gifts small or large make a big difference.<\/p>\n<p>The meals of soy, rice, dehydrate vegetables, containing 21 essential vitamins are distributed throughout North Dakota and Minnesota through the Great Plains Food Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Families need only to add boiling water to make the meal.<\/p>\n<p>Donations can be made at First Community Credit Union, on the Jamestown Kiwanis Facebook page,\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.Facebook.com\/JamestownKiwanis\">www.Facebook.com\/JamestownKiwanis<\/a> or email <a href=\"mailto:JamestownKiwnais@gmail.com\">JamestownKiwnais@gmail.com<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 www.gofundme.com\/kids-against-hunger-2018, or directly to any Kiwanis member.<\/p>\n<p>The Kiwanis greatly appreciates donation, and so will the families that you\u2019re helping to feed.<\/p>\n<p>Those unable to donate funds for the food, may consider donating their time. (AP) \u2014 McKenzie County sheriff&#8217;s officials say officers shot and wounded a man in Alexander.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff&#8217;s department responded to a domestic disturbance involving an armed man Wednesday night. Authorities didn&#8217;t say what prompted officers to fire their weapons. The man is in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been asked to review the shooting. The officers are on standard administrative leave.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<article id=\"story_content\" class=\"ng-binding\">BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A federal judge has denied a request from an American Indian tribe in North Dakota to block the state&#8217;s voter ID law just days before the election.North Dakota&#8217;s law requires voters to show ID with a residential street address, a provision that American Indians have argued is not always evident on reservations.<\/p>\n<p>The Spirit Lake Sioux tribe sued the state Tuesday seeking a temporary restraining order.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland in Bismarck ruled Thursday that the tribe&#8217;s allegations caused him concern but that he was denying the emergency motion because it would cause confusion so close to the election.<\/p>\n<p>The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa sued over the voter ID requirements in 2016. The U.S. Supreme Court this year upheld the law.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Legendary musician David Crosby is the new voice of a campaign to legalize recreational marijuana in North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The founding member of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and the Byrds is doing a radio ad that begins airing Thursday. <a href=\"https:\/\/kfgo.com\/news\/articles\/2018\/nov\/01\/musician-david-crosby-ad-supports-north-dakota-marijuana-measure-on-north-dakota-ballot\/\">KFGO<\/a> says Crosby is encouraging voters to pass Measure 3 on the ballot to end adult marijuana arrests and let police focus on violent crime.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents say legalizing marijuana will lead to an increase in violent crimes, impaired driving and workplace problems. Supporters of the measure dispute that.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal seeks to legalize marijuana for people 21 and older and also seal the records of anyone convicted of a marijuana-related crime that would be made legal under the measure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014\u00a0 Former Vice President Joe Biden brushed aside a case of laryngitis to help Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp kick off a statewide tour as her race neared its end.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s first order of a business at the Fargo Air Museum Thursday was to apologize for having to whisper. He proceeded to quietly outline many problems in the country he said have been made worse by the &#8220;forces of hate&#8221; and the &#8220;lack of dignity in the national dialogue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Biden said there is no better example of character in public life than Heitkamp, and he urged attendees to help get out the vote in the final days before the election.<\/p>\n<p>Heitkamp, who is seen as trailing in her re-election campaign against Republican Rep. Rubin has denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PITTSBURGH (AP) \u2014 The anti-Semitic truck driver accused of gunning down 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue has pleaded not guilty to federal charges that could put him on death row.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Bowers was arraigned Thursday, one day after a grand jury issued a 44-count indictment that charges him with murder, hate crimes, obstructing the practice of religion and other crimes.<\/p>\n<p>It was his second brief appearance in a federal courtroom since the weekend massacre at Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh&#8217;s Squirrel Hill neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say the 46-year-old Bowers raged against Jews during and after the rampage. It was the deadliest attack on Jews in American history.<\/p>\n<p>Funerals for the victims are being held all week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>JUCHITAN, Mexico (AP) \u2014 Mexican immigration authorities so far haven&#8217;t tried to detain migrants in largest caravan of Central Americans now walking through the southern part of the country. But it&#8217;s a different story with the second, smaller caravan of migrants about 200 miles behind them.<\/p>\n<p>A federal official who was not authorized to be quoted by name says 153 migrants were detained Wednesday during highway inspections in the southernmost state of Chiapas.<\/p>\n<p>While the precise size of that caravan is unclear, that could be equivalent to about 10 percent of those participating.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico&#8217;s immigration agency does normally operate highway inspection checkpoints in the area near the Guatemalan border. But Wednesday&#8217;s detentions appear to mark a shift in enforcement strategy toward the caravans.<\/p>\n<p>Officials haven&#8217;t tried to detain the first, larger group, instead offering free trips home or legal status in Mexico.
