Highlighting the mix of educational speakers, entertainment and policy debate will be the unveiling of a Family Farms chopper and formal introduction of <em>Our Family Farm,<\/em> a children\u2019s book commissioned by North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU).<\/p>\n<p>NDFU President Mark Watne says consumer education has always been a high priority for Farmers Union. \u00a0He adds, \u201cWe created the chopper and book as educational tools to grab consumers\u2019 attention and help broaden their understanding of family farm agriculture. We know there is value in what we do as farmers and ranchers. We want them to understand that, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A conversation between Watne and Paul Teutul, Jr., who designed the bike, will be featured in 2019 on an episode of \u201cAmerican Chopper,\u201d a Discovery Channel (CSi Cable 19) \u00a0television show, along with footage from the convention where the bike will be revealed for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-155858\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/SullivanDana-300x217.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/SullivanDana-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/SullivanDana-768x556.png 768w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/SullivanDana-242x175.png 242w, https:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/SullivanDana.png 912w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The author of the children\u2019s book, Dana Sullivan, will be sharing his creation with convention-goers, as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Adnan Akyuz, state climatologist, and Dr. Frayne Olson, crop economist at NDSU, will be hosting seminars at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday morning, respectively. National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson will be addressing NDFU members Saturday afternoon. Policy debate, election of officers, Farmers Union Insurance\u2019s annual meeting, live and silent auctions, the Torchbearer Award ceremony honoring youth, and entertainment by Two Old Two Stand and the Johnny Holm Band round out the two-day celebration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The convention is open to the public.
