The event will occur simultaneously with over 1,500 other ceremonies at locations in the United States and beyond, and will be highlighted by the placement of military service ceremonial wreaths by veterans of each respective service. The ceremonial wreath presenters were nominated by the community, and selected via a random drawing. The event will culminate with adorning<br \/>\ngravesites with a holiday wreath. Bismarck CAP anticipates they will be able to fit everybody inside the cemetery, so parking on Highway 1806 should be avoided unless an attendant directs otherwise. Overflow parking will also be available at Ft. Lincoln like in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>Once a ceremony is over, all participants will be given instructions on how the wreath placement part of the event will occur. The current weather forecast calls for reasonable winter weather, but attendees are encouraged to check conditions before leaving home and dress accordingly. The Chapel building at the Veterans Cemetery will be open, but is set aside for those participants who may be especially sensitive to being outside in the cold.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<article id=\"story_content\" class=\"ng-binding\">FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The Standing Rock Sioux tribe is getting $291,000 from the federal government to expand and improve the All Nations Veterans Cemetery in Fort Yates.The money is through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The agency last year gave the tribe nearly $5 million to build the cemetery.The 8-acre cemetery is expected to serve more than 2,200 tribal veterans and their families.\u00a0<\/p>\n<article id=\"story_content\" class=\"ng-binding\">BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Gov. Doug Burgum wants to exempt military pay and pensions from North Dakota income taxes, arguing in part that retaining veterans could help the state fill thousands of open jobs.Legislators have ignored similar pleas in the past, but supporters say the economic benefits of keeping veterans in the state would more than make up for lost revenue.North Dakota has more than 13,000 unfilled advertised jobs, though Burgum believes the number of all open jobs is at least twice that.Military members generally may retire after 20 years, leaving many of them in their late 30s or early 40s in search of a new career.\u00a0<\/article>\n<\/article>\n<article id=\"story_content\" class=\"ng-binding\">BOTTINEAU, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Voters in the Bottineau school district have overwhelmingly approved a $7.6 million school upgrade.Nearly 1,000 people voted Wednesday, and unofficial results show 85 percent of them favored a bond issue to fund the project. Sixty percent approval was required.Superintendent Pat Renden says the district will build a new preschool through second grade addition onto its existing elementary and high school. Officials hope to break ground in the spring and have the project complete by the fall of 2020.The district covers Bottineau County as well as parts of Rolette, Pierce, and McHenry Counties. Brenden says the owner of a $200,000 home will pay about $59 more per year in taxes to pay off the bond.\u00a0<\/article>\n<p>MINNEAPOLIS (AP) \u2014 Opponents of Enbridge Energy&#8217;s proposed Line 3 crude oil pipeline replacement may turn their attention to fighting the project on other fronts as a Minnesota regulatory panel prepares to take one of its final steps to allow it to proceed.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Utilities Commission on Thursday was scheduled to discuss petitions by environmental and tribal groups for the panel to reconsider its decision in June to approve a route permit for the line across northern Minnesota. Those opponents acknowledge that they hold out little hope, given that the commission earlier this month quickly and unanimously rejected their petitions to reconsider the project&#8217;s certificate of need.<\/p>\n<p>That vote triggered a walkout and a march to the office of Gov.-elect Tim Walz, a Democrat. Both sides since then have been mobilizing their supporters to attend Thursday&#8217;s PUC meeting. The Jobs for Minnesotans business-labor-community coalition expects that a large contingent of blue-hatted Line 3 supporters will arrive early, spokesman Mike Zipko said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In sports&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>VALLEY CITY\u00a0 (VCSU)\u00a0 \u00a0\u2013 The Valley City State and University of Jamestown women\u2019s basketball teams delivered another classic rivalry game Wednesday night, battling to a two-point contest in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown\u2019s Noelle Josephson scored inside to break a 52-52 tie with 50 seconds remaining, and the Jimmies held on in the final seconds for a 56-54 win.<\/p>\n<p>After Josephson\u2019s bucket, the Vikings had chances to answer back, but a turnover with 31 seconds to go led to a Jimmie free throw. Valley City State\u2019s <a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/24\/2\/2491\" data-original-title=\"\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/24\/2\/2491\">Mackenzie Huber<\/a> was fouled inside and made both free throws with 17 seconds left, bringing VCSU to within 55-54. The Vikings and Jimmies split their season series, with the Vikings winning 67-55 back on Nov. 5 in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown scored the first seven points of the game and led 17-9 after the first quarter. The Jimmies built their largest lead of the game, 24-12, early in the second quarter. (AP) \u2014 South Dakota State has advanced to the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals for the second straight year \u2014 and its reward is a matchup against powerful rivals North Dakota State.<\/p>\n<p>The 13-0 Bison will play host to the 10-2 Jacks Friday night in the Fargodome, (7-p.m., on CSi 18 ESPN 2) where North Dakota State is 23-1 in FCS playoff games. The Bison are seeking their seventh national championship in eight years.<\/p>\n<p>Despite playing second fiddle in the series, the Jackrabbits are the last team to beat the Bison, in 2017, and also defeated them in the Fargodome, in 2016.
