The program consists of ten seminars-seven of which are held around the state of ND, one in MN, one in Washington DC, and most recently an International seminar was held in Brazil. Her lecture and slide show at the Barnes County Museum on April 25 will include her experiences in understanding community issues, culture, and agriculture in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 15 Presents: \u00a0Kevin Nold \u201cUnited States Coins; Investing or Collecting\u201d 7PM Thursday April 18, 2013, at the Barnes County Museum.<\/p>\n<p>There are many types of coin collectors and collections.\u00a0 In his presentation, Kevn Nold will be looking at US coins and bullion as a potential investment option discussing the pros and cons and also some items to be aware of.\u00a0 He will examine various resources for the coin collectors ex: magazines, books, newsletters, coin clubs, libraries, museums, as well as professional organizations.\u00a0 Kevin will talk about how to locate or find coins, Coin Etiquette and the proper handling and storage, storage options with examples.\u00a0 He will mention insurance issues as well as how to determine values of US Coins and how coins are graded, with examples.\u00a0 There will also be a quick discussion on currency and exonumia (tokens, wooden nickels, stamps, medals, poker chips.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Nold was introduced to coin collecting at age 6 by his Grandfather.\u00a0 He attended his first coin show in 1963 in Fargo at age 7 and has been collecting US Coins and Currency for the past 50 years. He started buying and selling coins and currency 3 years ago and is licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota.\u00a0 Kevin is a member Central States Numismatic Society and currently serves as Treasurer of the Red River Valley Coin Club. He would like to restart the &#8220;Sheyenne Valley Coin Club.\u201d\u00a0 He has lived in Valley City since 1978 and is employed by the Barnes County Housing Authority, working as the Maintenance Supervisor since 1988.
