Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown City Council will hold a public input meeting on Tuesday August 21, 2012, at 4:00 PM, at the Building, Planning and Zoning Committee meeting.<\/p>\n

Input will be gathered concerning Section 8 of Appendix B of the Jamestown City Code relative to subdivision development improvements and suggested changes.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public an opportunity to comment and provide assistance to the City Council in determining future ordinance changes\/policies.<\/p>\n

Copies of Section 8–Appendix B are available at Jamestown City Hall, or can be viewed on the City website jamestownnd.org<\/span><\/em> under the government tab\/municipal code, click on Appendix B \u2013 Subdivisions.<\/p>\n

\u00a0BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A Montana man charged with kidnapping and murdering a Georgia man working in North Dakota told investigators he felt compelled to kill two people in Bismarck after having a dream about them.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forty-two-year-old John Bridges, of Missoula, Mont., is accused of killing 40-year-old Lee Clay, who was a passenger in a van that Bridges was driving.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol says the van crashed and went in the ditch off Interstate 94 just east of Bismarck on July 6. Clay was found dead in the vehicle.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The two men apparently met while working at a temp agency.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tim Myers with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation testified that Bridges said he had a dream on July 5 that made him suspicious of Clay.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Sanford Health is starting construction on a
\n$541 million medical center in North Dakota’s largest city.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Groundbreaking for the Fargo campus was Tuesday. Sanford
\nPresident and CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft called it a historic day.<\/p>\n

The facility is to open in 2016, serving more than 4,200 patients
\ndaily.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 10-story medical center will include 460 hospital beds, 32
\noperating rooms and 51 emergency department bays.<\/p>\n

\u00a0By 2018 it is to be staffed by more than 260 physicians working in 48 different specialties.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sanford already employs more than 7,500 people in Fargo and
\nneighboring Moorhead, Minn.<\/p>\n

The new medical center will create an\u00a0 additional 2,000 full-time positions.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sanford is based in Fargo and in Sioux Falls, S.D. It has a
\npresence in more than 100 communities in seven states.<\/p>\n

\u00a0MINOT, N.D. (AP) – A New York-based software company has closed
\nits Minot location and opened a smaller office in Grand Forks.
\nInfoTech had been releasing employees and closed the Minot Technology Center for good last week. It has opened an office at the University of North
\nDakota’s Center for Innovation.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 InfoTech opened in Minot five years ago with the help of
\n$400,000 in financial assistance from the city’s economic
\ndevelopment fund.<\/p>\n

Company President Matti Kon says the Navy contract that was the core of Minot operations fell victim to defense cost-cutting, and that skyrocketing wages in the western oil fields inflated employee salaries in Minot.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 InfoTech employed more than 40 workers in Minot. Kon says all
\nhave found new jobs, including some who relocated to Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

\u00a0WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – The head of Williston’s hospital says
\nNorth Dakota should establish a center in that city to train health
\ncare professionals.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mercy Medical Center CEO Matt Grimshaw told a group of state
\nlegislators Monday that he thinks developing home-grown health
\nprofessionals is the long-term solution to meeting health care
\nneeds in the western oil patch.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Williston hospital has 450 employees and 50 open positions. Grimshaw says the hospital continues to see record numbers of emergency room visits, births and clinic patients.<\/p>\n

He suggests integrating programs from the University of North Dakota medical school and Williston State College with educational opportunities at the hospital and other regional partners.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 UND medical school dean Joshua Wynne says UND is working to meet
\nthe needs of western North Dakota.<\/p>\n

\u00a0GLENWOOD, Minn. (AP) – Charges say the man accused of driving
\ndrunk and killing a Minnesota coach’s son had a blood-alcohol
\ncontent more than four times the legal limit.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Thirty-eight-year-old Dana Schoen (shohn) of Starbuck faces
\nthree criminal vehicular homicide or operation charges.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The West Central Tribune (http:\/\/bit.ly\/OHnQv2<\/a>) reports the
\ncomplaint says a breath test showed Schoen had a blood-alcohol
\ncontent of 0.351 percent. Minnesota’s legal limit is 0.08 percent.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Schoen’s pickup collided head-on Saturday with a sport utility
\nvehicle carrying Southwest State University men’s basketball coach
\nBrad Bigler.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bigler’s 5-month-old son, Drake, was killed. Bigler was
\ncritically injured.<\/p>\n

His wife, Heather, who was driving the SUV, and
\nher 74-year-old grandmother, Sharon Schuler of Granite Falls, also
\nwere hurt.<\/p>\n

Bigler’s surgeon says Bigler is making good progress and that
\nSchuler also is doing well.<\/p>\n

The election year announcement comes as Obama aims to show he is being tough on Iran amid criticism from Republican rival Mitt Romney.

\u00a0FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) – An Army sergeant has been sentenced to 30 days in prison for his role in the alleged hazing and suicide of a fellow soldier.<\/p>\n

Sgt. Adam Holcomb was convicted yesterday by a military jury in North Carolina that cleared him of the most serious charge, negligent homicide.<\/p>\n

In addition to the 30-day sentence, he forfeits a month of pay and will be demoted.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A bitter, 4-year-old court fight over California’s voter-approved ban on same-sex marriages could soon be resolved.<\/p>\n

Backers of the ban are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overrule a federal appeals court, which said the ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

If the high court declines to take the case, it would clear the way for same-sex marriages to resume in California.
