FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A travel alert was issued Thursday afternoon \u00a0for southeast North Dakota.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Department of Transportation says the area includes the cities of Jamestown, Ellendale, Edgeley, Valley City, Wahpeton, Fargo, Hillsboro and surrounding areas.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Motorists can still travel in the areas but should be advised that heavy snow and blowing snow is reducing visibility in icy conditions.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department is encouraging motorists to reduce speeds and drive according to conditions.<\/p>\n

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — About 25 interested individuals attended the public meeting, on Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Airport as the topic was the growing needs at the airport.<\/p>\n

Specially building t-hangars at the airport was discussed.<\/p>\n

The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority presented a preliminary tentative plan for the t-hangars that would be located in the southwest parcel of airport land.<\/p>\n

Another option is building the hangar in the southeast corner.<\/p>\n

As Jamestown Regional Airport Mnager Matt Leitner said on a recent Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, the plan includes constructing ten hangars, two smaller and eight larger.<\/p>\n

The plan also calls for one set of 10 hangars to be constructed initially and then build any additional sets based demand.<\/p>\n

He said options include the airport owning and then leasing the hangars or having the hangars privately owned.<\/p>\n

The t-hangars presently at the airport are currently owned privately.<\/p>\n

The project is eligible for federal funding, and would likely pay for most of the cost of the aprons leading to the hangars.<\/p>\n

Pilots suggested that rent of $200 per month was too high and should not be more than $165 per month.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Regional Airport Authority Chairman, Jim Boyd, says building the first set of hangars may start this year, pending interest for the hangars.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A New Town man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Twenty-two-year-old Vincent Espinoza was accused of fleeing from a traffic stop in New Town last November, and in the process dragging an officer about half a city block. U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says the officer struck her head on the roadway and had to be hospitalized.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Espinoza faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced July 19 in Bismarck.<\/p>\n

\u00a0FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The lawyer for a former North Dakota bank executive convicted in a fraud scheme is sparring with prosecutors about potential financial penalties.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sixty-seven-year-old Betty Kolling, a former trust officer at Bank of the West in Dickinson, pleaded guilty a year ago to conspiring to commit bank fraud. Investigators say she stole nearly $800,000 from five clients.
\n\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A court document filed by defense attorney Irv Nodland says the plea agreement calls for Kolling to pay back $790,000 for victims’ losses, known as restitution, but she should not be required to surrender other assets, known as forfeiture.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prosecutors say any sentence that does not include restitution and forfeiture would be illegal.
\n\u00a0

\u00a0\u00a0WASHINGTON (AP) – Supporters of tougher gun laws have won a key vote in the Senate — but according to Majority Leader Harry Reid, “The hard work starts now.” Conservatives were defeated Thursday in an attempt to block the gun proposals from coming to the floor for debate and a vote. But many Republicans and some moderate Democrats still say the proposals go too far, and supporters may still face an uphill battle to get any major restrictions approved.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 HOUSTON (AP) – An attorney for a man accused of stabbing more than a dozen people at a Houston-area college this week says his client is on suicide watch. The lawyer for Dylan Quick says Quick will remain jailed without bond so he can continue a psychological evaluation. Harris County authorities have said Quick told them he had been fantasizing for years about stabbing people. Quick is charged with three counts of aggravated assault for the attack at Lone Star Community College in Cypress.

LOUIS (AP) – At least one death has been blamed on a strong spring storm system that’s brought everything from tornadoes to ice and snow to much of the Midwest and parts of the southeast U.S. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says one person has died and several are injured after a reported tornado in Kemper County in the far eastern part of the state. In Missouri, the National Weather Service now confirms that the St. Louis suburb of Hazelwood was hit by a tornado last night.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 WASHINGTON (AP) – House Speaker John Boehner (BAY’-nur) is taking issue with comments by a Republican colleague about the White House proposal to slow the growth of Social Security. Greg Walden of Oregon, who chairs the committee overseeing Republican House campaigns next year, said the proposal is an attack on America’s elderly. Boehner disagrees, saying even more should be done to control entitlement spending. Democrats say Walden’s remarks were hypocritical, since Republicans have advocated reining-in the growth of Social Security and Medicare.
