Dangerous wind chills Sunday night through Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Strong northwest winds between 25 mph and 40 mph Saturday night
\ninto Sunday afternoon may result in blowing and drifting snow and
\nreduced visibilities across east central North Dakota.<\/p>\n

This would include the Turtle Mountains south through the James River Valley.
\nRecent snowfall, especially across the southern James River
\nValley, when combined with the strong winds, may result in
\nvisibilities down to one half mile at times.<\/p>\n

Please allow extra time if traveling across east central North
\nDakota Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. Check back for

The beginning of the work week will be bitterly cold with more<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Public Works informs residents, that city crews will begin the full snow plowing program starting Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 5:00 a.m. beginning with the Emergency routes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

City crews will begin plowing residential areas at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019.<\/p>\n

Crews will continue work during the night with the Downtown district beginning at 11:00 pm.<\/p>\n

City Ordinance Section 25-10 requires that a property owner keep the sidewalk adjoining the property clear of snow and ice. Do not deposit snow or ice on the city street after the city plow has cleared the street. These violations are class B misdemeanors under the general penalty and will result in a fine.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 As Valley City public works crews are removing \u00a0snow, Valley City Police Chief, Phil Hatcher reminds residents that the maximum time limit for vehicles or trailers\u00a0 allowed to park on city streets or city owned parking lots is no longer than 72 hours.\u00a0\u00a0 Marked vehicles by police will be removed at the owner\u2019s expense.<\/p>\n

He adds, that\u00a0\u00a0 no vehicles or trailers are allowed to park on a snow emergency route during a snowfall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Those vehicles will be towed immediately at the owner\u2019s expense. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Snow emergency routes are clearly marked with signage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to the All Vets Club kitchen at 1:36 Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

First Captain Frank Schumacher says work was being performed on the fryer when a flare up occurred.<\/p>\n

He says the fire was self-extinguished and ventilated.\u00a0 No damages to the kitchen and no injuries.<\/p>\n

Thee City Fire Units and 13 fire fighters were on the scene about 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (JU)\u00a0 Plans are underway at the University of Jamestown for the 33rd<\/sup> Annual Dine and Bid \u201cMonopoly: Knight Edition.\u201d The benefit auction will take place Saturday, April 13, 2019, in the new Harold Newman Arena on the University of Jamestown campus. A social will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The event features the opportunity to bid on an array of unique items in silent and live auctions and the chance to win exciting raffles throughout the evening. Several unique items will be auctioned including a vacation at a beachfront home in Belize; a Mother\u2019s Day package to New York City to see the musical Hamilton<\/em>; a custom-made University of Jamestown electronic dartboard; and much more. All proceeds benefit student scholarships.<\/p>\n

University of Jamestown students participate in the event by providing entertainment via a talent competition for a 50\/50 raffle, managing valet parking, greeting attendees, serving the meal, and assisting with delivery of large auction items to buyers\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Dine and Bid will feature two emcees who have led the event for the past several years: Casey Stoudt and Warren Abrahamson (a 2013 UJ graduate). Dinner will be provided by a Sodexo executive chef. The event is open to the community. Tickets can be purchased at uj.edu\/dine-and-bid.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Government officials say the five-month shutdown of a North Dakota highway during protests against the Dakota Access oil pipeline was not aimed at manipulating the media or an American Indian tribe fighting the project.Their argument comes in a lawsuit by Standing Rock Sioux tribal members and others who say the closure was aimed not only at protesters but also at influencing the tribe’s position and the media’s coverage. They seek unspecified monetary damages.Defense attorneys in recent court filings say the shutdown had nothing to do with any negotiations with the tribe or with impeding the press.They say government officials shut down the highway in the interest of ensuring public safety and limiting disruptions to a project deemed by President Donald Trump to be in the national interest.<\/article>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota’s court system is rolling out a revitalized website to modernize its 20-year-old platform.<\/p>\n

The Bismarck Tribune reports<\/a> that State Court Administrator Sally Holewa says the new NDCourts.gov is expected to be revealed in the next week. Holewa says the new platform will mainly reorganize what’s already online.<\/p>\n

The existing website dates back to 1999 and was primarily run by former North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Dale Sandstrom, who retired in 2016.<\/p>\n

The decision follows a recent trend in state government as several agencies unveil new platforms, including Secretary of State Al Jaeger’s FirstStop hub for online business functions.<\/p>\n

The state Information Technology Department has been working on IT “unification” since 2017, striving for an “organizationally centric” approach to state government online.<\/p>\n

CASSELTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota health officials say three people have contracted Legionnaire’s disease linked to a hotel water park in Casselton.The three people became sick between last July and January, and all three reported spending some time at the Days Inn of Casselton.The Health Department says anyone who spent time at the hotel this month and has become sick should see a doctor.Legionnaire’s is a type of pneumonia caused by the Legionella bacteria. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, chills, shortness of breath, loss of appetite and coughing. Ten cases were reported in the state last year.\u00a0<\/article>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Equipment failure is being blamed for the spill of about 11,000 gallons of saltwater at a well in Williams County.North Dakota’s Oil and Gas Division says Equinor Energy LP reported Thursday that 260 barrels of saltwater spilled at a well about 6 miles northeast of Williston due to a pipeline valve leak. Saltwater, or brine, is a byproduct of oil production.All of the brine was contained on site and recovered, and a state inspector has visited the site.<\/article>\n

\"\"(VCSU.com<\/a>) Valley City State University senior Kaitlin Connor<\/a> has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women\u2019s Basketball Team.<\/p>\n

Selected by CoSIDA members (College Sports Information Directors of America), the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes nationwide for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The honor was announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

A native of Madison, Minn., Connor was named to the Academic All-District Second Team in NAIA District 3, which features all NAIA schools in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Connor has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her Viking career while juggling the heavy time demands of being a two-sport athlete in women\u2019s basketball and track and field. She is majoring in psychology. This season Connor became Valley City State\u2019s all-time leader in career blocks (119) and also set new school records for single-season blocks (43) and single-game blocks (6).<\/p>\n

CHICAGO (AP) \u2014 R&B star R. Kelly is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday in Chicago after he was charged with sexual abuse allegations spanning more than a decade. Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx on Friday afternoon announced the 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse. They involve four victims, at least three of whom were younger than 17. Foxx said the sentencing range for aggravated sexual assault is up to seven years in prison.<\/article>\n

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) \u2014 Police say New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft faces misdemeanor charges of soliciting a prostitute after he was twice videotaped in a sex act at a Florida massage parlor. The case that could get him in trouble with the NFL. The 77-year-old Kraft denies any wrongdoing. He was not immediately arrested. Jupiter, Florida, police said a warrant will be issued and his attorneys will be notified. They said details about the charges will not be released until next week.<\/article>\n

So it’s no surprise that Smollett drew wall-to-wall news coverage. Experts say the story showed where news outlets teeter on the line between driving social media and being driven by it. Charles Whitaker is interim dean of the Northwestern University’s school of journalism. He says media consumers increasingly view such events though their own political lens.ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) \u2014 A federal magistrate has told the government it must disclose to him and to plaintiffs’ attorneys a list of private organizations that receive access to the government’s list of known or suspected terrorists. The judge issued the ruling Friday during a hearing in which he angrily questioned government lawyers about their failure to previously disclose that hundreds of private entities receive access to the list.
