TUCSON, Ariz. (uj.edu) — Runs came early and often for the No. 24 University of Jamestown softball team Thursday against Bethel College.<\/p>\n
The Jimmies set a program record for runs in a game, defeating the Pilots 22-3 in five innings.<\/p>\n
Lorigan Steuben<\/a> (FR\/Yacolt, Wash.) was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and three RBI to lead the UJ offense. Katie Reisdorfer<\/a> (SO\/Fresno, CA) rapped a pair of doubles among her three hits. Mariah Wick<\/a> (SO\/Jamestown, N.D.), Sydney Prussia<\/a> (SO\/Detroit Lakes, MN), Santina Zito<\/a> (FR\/Boise, Idaho), and Steph Cota<\/a> (FR\/Tucson, Ariz.) all had a pair of hits.<\/p>\n Jamestown pushed home six runs in the first and fifth innings, added three in the second and third, then scored four more in the fourth.<\/p>\n The last time the Jimmies tallied 20 runs in a game was on April 19, 2015, against Presentation (S.D.) College in a 20-1 victory. Jamestown had scored double digits just once in its first 14 games this season, but have accomplished the feat four times in their last six games in Arizona.<\/p>\n Katie Merchant<\/a> (FR\/South Haven, Minn.) (7-3)\u00a0pitched two scoreless innings before yielding to Meghan Ramage<\/a> (SR\/Grand Forks, ND) for the final three frames.<\/p>\n UJ finished the sweep on Thursday with a 6-1 victory over Madonna (Mich.) University.<\/p>\n Katie Reisdorfer<\/a>, Allie McCain<\/a> (SR\/Duvall, WA), Mariah Martinez<\/a> (FR\/Visalia, Calif.), and Morgan Geiszler<\/a> (SO\/Horace, ND) drove in runs as Jamestown erased a 1-0 deficit with a four-run fourth. The Jimmies added two more runs on a fielding error in the bottom of the sixth.<\/p>\n Kat Miska<\/a> (SO\/Pequot Lakes, MN) struck out six over seven innings to get the win. She scattered five hits and allowed just one run to improve her record to 6-2.<\/p>\n Martinez was 2-for-3 while McCain, Geiszler, Sydney Prussia<\/a>, Meghan Ramage<\/a>, Katie Reisdorfer<\/a>, and Mariah Wick<\/a> also had hits.<\/p>\n Jamestown (15-6) finishes its Tucson trip with a single game against Park (Mo.)
