RECOGNITION OF MAYOR FOR A DAY\u2026 FOR CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Valley City 3rd<\/sup> graders wrote 70 essays, about being mayor of Valley City.<\/strong><\/p>\n Journey was given a plaque in recognition of the honor of being Mayor for a Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n 8th<\/sup> Grade students will also be involved with city government.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n THE<\/strong> CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK PROCLAMATION WAS READ BY MAYOR CARLSUD. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A PRESENTATION WAS MADE OF THE SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT THAT WAS GIVEN, BY THE NORTH DAKOTA WATER COMMISSION.<\/strong><\/p>\n WADE HESCH RECEIVED THE CERTIFICATE ON BEHALF OF THE VALLEY CITY WATER DEPARTMENT.<\/strong><\/p>\n APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS<\/strong><\/p>\n Monthly Reports from the Fire Chief, Building Inspector, Auditor, Municipal Judge and Public Works Accountant.<\/p>\n Monthly Bills for the City and Public Works in the Amount of $1,729,048.34<\/p>\n Approved was an Application to Block off Street for Sheyenne Valley Backing the Badge 6K Run on May 4, 2019 for route as submitted<\/p>\n Approved an Application to Block off Street for Sheyenne Valley Soapbox Derby on June 8-9, 2019 on Central Avenue from 3rd Street N to 9th Street N<\/p>\n Approved Raffle Permits for Education Foundation for Valley City Public Schools, Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce<\/p>\n Approved Tree Trimming & Removal Service License for Mike\u2019s Construction & Repair<\/p>\n Approved a Raffle Permit of APLC.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PUBLIC COMMENTS No One Spoke<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n RESOLUTION <\/strong><\/p>\n City Commissioners approved a Resolution Approving Final Plans and Specifications for Permanent Flood Protection Phase 2A and Permanent Flood Protection Phase 3 and Authorizing Engineer to Advertise for Bids.<\/p>\n NEW BUSINESS <\/strong><\/p>\n Approved the Valley City Fire Department, Officer List from\u00a0 Fire Chief \u00a0Scott Magnuson.<\/p>\n Commissioner Duane Magnuson abstained from the vote.<\/p>\n That \u00a0was followed by:<\/p>\n The Oath of Office\u00a0 administered\u00a0 for the Assistant Fire Chief Lance Coit\u00a0 by mayor Dave Carlsrud, and the Presentation was made of VCFD Officers,by Fire Chief Scott Magnuson.<\/p>\n City Commissioners approved the bid for new sander truck. City Administrator Schelkoph .\u00a0 City Administrator Schelkoph said there were multiple bids, with the bid recommended for acceptance by Jeff Differding to Sanitation Products at $147,010, around $20,000 under budget.\u00a0 The truck\u2019s life expectancy is 12-15 years.<\/p>\n Approved was the 2019 City Forester Contract with Willis Wager.<\/p>\n CITY ADMINISTRATOR\u2019S REPORT <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n David Schelkoph said there have been 4-5 days of a good slow snow melt.<\/p>\n He said Barnes County Emergency Manager, Sue Lloyd requested a Flood Emergency Declaration from the Barnes County Commission, that was approved in order have paper work in place in the event\u00a0 a flooding event occurs and needs state and federal funds in a flood fight.<\/p>\n Schelkoph added as of Wednesday Bald Hill Dam is releasing between 1,000 1,200 cfs of water, and is likely to be increased.\u00a0 The water flow through Valley City on the Sheyenne River is currently at 1,600 t0 2,000 cfs.\u00a0 He said present river level is below the flood action stage.\u00a0 The pool level of Lake Ashtabula is at an elevation of 1260.9 feet.
