A strong low transitions towards the southern James River Valley by Wednesday night. Rain will change back to snow southwest Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Snowfall accumulations range from a tenth of an inch central to around 1 inch far southwest.<\/p>\n

Rain showers during the day Wednesday for most of the forecast area, however the northwest will see the lowest chances.<\/p>\n

Rain showers will mix with and change to snow showers Wednesday night as they shift into the James River Valley.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Jamestown Public Works reports, that due to City utility repairs along 9th St NE between 2nd Ave & 3rd Ave NE, there will be temporary water outages on Thursday, May 2, 2019.<\/strong> The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to a utility pole \u00a0where smoke was coming from, about \u2013 2 p.m., Sunday about\u00a0 2:04-p.m., in the 900 block of 10th<\/sup> Street Northeast.<\/p>\n

Lt. Sheldon Mohr says,\u00a0 city fire fighters were on standby until a crew from Otter Tail Power Company arrived on scene.<\/p>\n

He said two city fire units were on scene, and 19 city fire fighters.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 <\/strong>The Kiwanis Club of Jamestown will fire up the griddles at the Knights of Columbus for the annual Kiwanis Pancake Day to raise money for local children\u2019s projects. The goal is to raise at least $10,000.\u00a0 The event is Monday May 6, from 11-a.m., to 7-p.m., at the Jamestown Knights of Columbus Hall.<\/p>\n

As it has in previous years, the Kiwanis Club of Jamestown will offer pancakes, sausage, coffee and milk.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Kiwanis Club President, Sara Griego says, \u201cWe know kids need Kiwanis, in our community and around the world.This is an opportunity to invest in our community\u2019s children.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, were Jamestown Kiwanis Club representative, Katie Ryan-Anderson, and Amanda Thrift.<\/p>\n

Katie pointed out that Key Club members from Jamestown High School and Aktion Club members from the community will assist with making pancakes, busing tables and cleaning up.<\/p>\n

The fundraiser provides resources for club projects such as Anne Carlsen Center, Salvation Army, Community Action, Jamestown High School, Kids Against Hunger and many more.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for children ages 5 and under. Bulk discounts are available. Tickets can be purchased from any Kiwanis member or online at<\/p>\n

Amanda added that The Kiwanis Club of Jamestown welcomes new members who want to serve their community. Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The week of April 29th<\/sup> has been designated, \u201cSevere Summer Weather Awareness Week,\u201d for the entire state of North Dakota.\u00a0 This annual event is intended to remind the public of the dangers associated with severe summer weather including:\u00a0 lightning, high winds, large hail, flash floods and tornadoes. All of which, can cause severe property damage, personal injury, and even death.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Stutsman County Emergency Manager, Jerry Bergquist says, as part of the awareness week activities, Stutsman County will conduct a tornado exercise that will begin at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 1st<\/sup><\/u><\/strong>. The exercise will simulate what occurs locally when a tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The tornado exercise will be testing internal notification procedures county-wide along with siren activation capabilities.\u00a0 Sirens will be activated in many area communities including the Cities of Jamestown, Buchanan, Cleveland, Medina and Streeter.\u00a0 In most communities, sirens will be activated for approximately 3 minutes. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Because the National Weather Service will not directly be involved with the exercise, the simulated warning will not<\/u> be broadcast through the National Weather Service all-hazards weather radio system.\u00a0 Also, the Emergency Alert System (EAS) for local AM\/FM radio stations and cable television providers will not<\/u> be activated. The Stutsman Alert\u2019s notification system powered by Everbridge also will not<\/u> be activated for this test.<\/p>\n

However\u2026the CSi Cable interrupt system WILL be tested at approximately the time of the Tornado Drill activated by the Jamestown Law Enforcement Center in Jamestown.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most common reason a community\u2019s warning sirens are activated is to warn the public of a possible tornado.\u00a0 However, sirens could also be activated to alert the public of other types of events that could be a danger to the community.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (UJ)\u00a0 \u00a0Since March 23, 2019, Will Bernhagen has been walking from his home in Sheridan, Wyo. towards University of Jamestown. Rain or shine, Will is scheduled to arrive at UJ on May 1, 2019. Community members are invited to wear orange, join Will on his walk, and celebrate his 600-mile journey.<\/p>\n
